Oh, I wore DS in my green elephant B'roo to Lowe's and Target today. Then I wrapped him for a commissary trip. THEN I wore him in the B'roo again to the BX and Kmart. Whew! It was a long day of hunting down specific small items that we need to finish getting this house set up. At least we're getting closer to having a more normal life.
glad to know about the knee to knee, from what i saw in the mirror at the store jade seems to be fitting in there pretty good (maybe her length is compensated by the total and utter lack of width! ) but i was curious about the back support height 'rules' and the leg support 'rules' for a SSC. i'll try to get pics tom and see what you ladies think if you don't mind. can't wait to get a pic of dh wearing her in the new one!!
for your pleasure, my enlightened man (honestly i've NEVER seen a man wearing in this city) so proud of the husbands here that do!!!
haha the most common complaint about the ergo was colour/style i think this one is pretty!!
I wore Ron in at a healthy children's expo in a back carry in the me I tei. So many people commented on how he had the best seat in the house. I was going to wear him at some markets today but my back was sore from the bed I slept in last night. I did however seen tons of others babywearing, lots of ergos out and about today. I also pointed an ergo out to hubby and told him I wanted one as well as a woven wrap, a new ring sling and a new me I tei and he made no comment. I would obviously sell the ones I already have
Love the purple Ergo!
Good to know about the knee to knee...I am pretty confident that her legs are in the right position even though the body is definitely smaller than you describe on her now, but I will double check next time for sure.
Wore her today to the dog park. Gorgeous morning to be out and about!
I think the new Ergos are cute too! Mara, I like yours!
My DH loves to baby-wear. It's nice.
I'm about to start packing after I get DD down for a nap. Wish me luck!
That one is pretty! When I saw the orange organic Ergo up on baby steals last summer I grabbed it quickly because it's so much cuter than many of them (has flower stitching and rainbow inside).
My husband volunteers to BW more and more, which is funny b/c I found BWing a baby much easier than BWing a toddler. lol
Wendy, you totally need those carriers! Besides, you'll need them for #2 eventually anyways.
So close Mara for your trip! Eeee.
got a ton of compliments on the ergo today! let her walk to the store (6 blocks) but i know she never makes it home without begging for 'up' so i put the waist on, cross buckled the shoulder straps at the waist and off we went, on the way home i stopped in front of the library to put her up there and everyone stopped to watch! she was in and ready to go in no time and everyone thought it was so cool, they didn't even notice that i'd had it on in the first place! rocked it home and got smiles and nods all the way home. next outing is in about 2 hours to get dh, it's just so much easier to walk the dog with her riding than in the stroller or walking, honeysuckle HATES jade speed!
jackie i so wish i had snagged one when they were on babysteals wasn't an option at the time though they were a great deal. looking forward to our next outing with dh to see what he says about wearing her, he works till wed so that would be the earliest. ita baby was easier! dh found it to intimidating! lol!
wendy i would so get another one if you can, i love dh's noncommittal answers, he knows by now it means i take it as a go sign!
leigh i love wearing for the dog park, she can see the other pups, i can handle ours and no poopy kid shoes when we get home! glad your weather was nice!
yay mara good luck! getting soo close!
Haven't been on preg.org lately - so I'm catching up!
Mara - I hope the trip back to the states goes well!
Mara - love the new Ergo - georgous color, purple is my favorite!!
Jackie - OOOOOO!!!!! Congratulations! So exciting. That will make your son a little over 2 when baby arrives, right?
Wendy - you so should get at least one of the carriers you want!
Wore DD to the grocery store Friday and to Target Saturday. She fell asleep in it at the grocery store which was awesome, and I even took DS to the potty at the store! There was NO WAY IN HECK I could have managed that without wearing her without her crying. Instead we got DS to the potty, kept both kids happy and had a good trip. Also kept her happy for a long trip at Target wearing her. Laughed to myself at the end. There was a family behind us with three children, maybe 6, 3 and 1.5. The mom was stressed out, pushing an empty stroller, holding the baby on her hip while trying to keep the older children from running all over. She seriously needed a carrier, but didn't even seem interested in mine.....don't understand some people!!
Mara, sounds like you had a great BWing day!
Mel, yep DS's birthday is Nov 2nd and this new one is due the 15th. lol.
The only wearing I did today was when DS drug my wrap around the house, wrapped himself up in it, and then brought it to me. It was super cute.
No wearing today, but my friends finally posted some pics from their trip to visit us last weekend, and one was great AND BW related:
Although DD is totally giving the stink eye, hahaha. (Nice to have friends with real cameras and a talent for photography!)
Mel, that story made me roll my eyes...I don't understand some people either!
What a great family photo! TFS.
Leigh, was a truly wonderful picture!!! I love it!
Well I do have about $150 extra coming to me soon ( a bonus for getting DS fully immunised up to 18 months) so maybe an ergo could be on the cards or a new RS and mei tei. A lady on a cloth nappy group I am part of is looking at selling some RS's as well.
SUCH a cute family photo Leigh!!! You are gorgeous!
Wendy-yay for extra $$ for a new carrier! So you get $ for having you kids immunized?
Aw, thanks guys. It's funny--it looks like such a staged portrait, but really I was just checking on DD and our friend called our names to look over and this is what he got. I love that her piggy is in it too Jackie--see, she's not quite knee to knee (I'd say her knees stick out a good inch and a half on the underside of her leg) but her position still seems fine, right?
Wendy, that's great that you might get a little baby-related windfall to spend on a carrier. Have fun shopping
While knee to knee is best practices, as long as she's comfortable and you're comfortable I say you're good!
Wendy, hope you're able to use that money for carriers!
Yes and no, they give this payment to you twice, once at 18 months and once at 4/5 years if all immunisations are completed, but I have also heard that they will still provide it to those who are listed as conscientious objectors (ie not immunising for various reasons) as workmate's sister doesn't immunise and nor do some of her friends and they still received it. DS has to be immunised for daycare anyway and it's something I would be doing anyway so it's just a nice little bonus for me. That ageency also owes me a ton of money, but hubby needs to do his tax return first
Jackie, I'm hoping to use that money either on carriers of hypnobabies, can't decide yet, but I think if I hold off on hypnobabies until I am pregnant next I will find the cash for it, I mean I budget spending money for me each week and rarely use it.
Yeah, if I had managed to get that green Ergo I was totally going to offer to divert my spending money toward it until it was paid off too. Good plan Weird that they give immunization bonuses to conscientious objectors...I mean, I am delaying/being picky about them myself, and it's cool that everyone gets money but maybe call it something else? Huh.
Beautiful family shot, Leigh! Though Addy seriously is giving the stank eye. She gives adorable stank eye.
Great photo Leigh! I love little ones that hold onto stuffed animals when they are in carriers! so adorable!
Wendy - that's hard to decide between a carrier and Hypnobabies! Makes sense to get the carrier first though!
mel that's so great about the shopping day out, some ppl are just so wrapped up in their own stuff that they fail to notice that bonuses right in front of them!
jackie that's too funny! not hard to tell he likes it then!
leigh great pic! that peep over the piggy stank eye is too cute lol!
wendy (ange? still learning names!) yay for bonus $$ and great plan to use it on!
haha jade's piggy bank chipped in too for her ergo, we usually spend the cash and transfer $ to her account when it's available (IOU style!) just moved it a little early! and hey i spent her money on her so it's allowed right?!
went to the pool today, LOVE wearing again, she falls asleep after and even my smallest stroller doesn't fit in the locker, and i'm NOT leaving $100+ worth of stroller out for anyone. ran to the store first to get new suit, my legs are killing, did squats to keep her busy waiting for the bus! had tons of compliments, my fav though is the 'OMG there is someone there?' HAHA think blue tooth prank only its a baby wear and no one can see her in the jacket!
Only BWing today was a quick ruck with my wrap (I really need a shorty if I keep rucking :p) while DH and I hung pictures downstairs. We are 98% done unpacking and setting up the downstairs. Unfortunately we haven't even opened a single box in our bedroom. Ha ha.
Wait I lied. DH reminded me that I wore DS in my green elephant B'roo SSC to Kmart after dinner tonight. Whoops. Losing my mind already!

I hope it's not the case for you...but if baby-brain was bad for me the first time, it is infinitely worse the second time around!!!!
It's actually called the maternity immunisation allowance. I can't afford to pay for each vaccine indivually (they are free on schedule or if needed delayed, but if you just choose to delay it's the full vaccine cost which can run around $400 per vaccine fom what my GP told me) and day care wouldn't take Ronin with out full vaccinations
I find that sad. If I lived there I'd feel like I was being punished for wanting to spread out the vaccines!
Yeah baby-brain for #2 was def. worse! I hope when I get around to #3 that it's not even worse!
Went to a great park this morning - animals, toddler playground, little kid playground, large sand area etc. We had so much fun. I wore Olivia when we walked between each area as well as at the little kid playground (nothing really for her to play on). She was an angel, had so much fun but loved being with mommy too. Love BWing! Oh and I brought the bag I have that goes over my shoulder, wore it under the carrier and it worked great! Thanks Ladies!
wow talk about incentive to use their schedule, we opted for a delayed schedule and really happy that it's all covered. agree with jackie that it seems unfair to punish for delay, is there a problem with ppl not doing it? i can't imagine worse baby brain that must suck! i resorted to lists with everything right done to meals and daily chores that were needed!
cause of mommy/baby brain: (total joke) hormones shift upon body realizing that it must now create life, brain cells are diverted to other tasks and soon burn out leaving one super cell, this one poor lonely brain cell is now dubbed the 'mommy brain' cell, and let me tell you that poor cell gets TIRED! so there you have it! lol!
walked the mall today (west ed mall!) with bug, wore her after lunch for some toy shopping, was out and about with dh's friend who now gets why baby wearing saves lives!!! even though jade was being a pest she was still the best behaved, most easily managed child in the toy section! and i was the only mom in there not pulling hair, literally, we saw two moms pull their hair, take a breathe and start the dealing process over!! his eyes bugged out when he saw my put the ergo on 'what you're going to do that by yourself?' um yeah watch! two seconds later she was up and done he was impressed! heehee he's dating a young lady with a 1 1/2 yr old, he mentioned looking into it for her, she has three older kids! thanks for the tip on the ergo ladies!
It is a pain, I don't want to do the varicella immunisation because I would prefer Ronin to get chicken pox naturally and if by a later age he hadn't had them get it then. I am hearing a lot of teenagers are getting shingles now due to the varicella vaccination. Unfortunatly he has to have it for day care so I have to do it. Poor kid gets two needles instead of 1 this time because they have updated one of them, but the new formulation ( a new strain added IIRC) didn't become available until the week after his 12 month needles.
A workmate is looking more into it as she is going to be overseas when some of her new babies needles are due and what will happen around this because they would be nearly 2 months late by the time they get back.
Just one quick ruck for DS to take a cat nap this morning.
It's been an exhausting, emotional day. Went to the base clinic to confirm the pregnancy for insurance purposes and their blood yes/no test came back negative! Came home completely devastated only to take 3 HPTs that are extremely dark and showed up within 30 seconds. So friggin' confused right now. *sigh*
Wendy - what happens if the child is sick and can't go to the appointment, or they don't think it's safe to immunize? Olivia has had a bunch delayed because she always seems to be sick and my doctor is very cautious about when they are sick giving shots.
Big Hugs!!! How many DPO are you?
wendy i wanted to wait with jade too but they mixed all 4 (MMR-VAX) here so it was 3 (or 4 i can't remember now) all in one, ended up being one extra too since it was time for a booster on something, poor girl. wow i hope your workmate can get that being that it's a preplanned outing.
jackie WTF? that's weird for sure, when are you able to go back and try again? i know dh's family history (women) tend to show neg on the blood for a long time and it's a short window for the yes, nephew showed now on blood until the ultrasound proved the hpt's right. :bigarmhug: and best wishes, that's gotta hurt. KUP
mel sounds like a good doc to see that and respond safely, most of the docs here are 'just do it' yesmen.
LOL okay jackie started a trend, or rather aiden did, got home from the mall, took the ergo out and jade quickly handed it too me and requested 'go get daddy'! we ended up walking the 1 1/2 miles each way to pick him up at work and show her off, there are no sidewalks so wearing her is the only safe way to bring her to his warehouse, were all the office ladies want to see her!
My post on the Nov 12 BB: http://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboards/showthread.php?691221-Emotional-Day
I'm seriously confused and just don't know what to think right now! I'm guessing I'm around 25-27 DPO so ummmm yeah, pretty far along when you think about it that way! Tomorrow marks cycle day 42!
If I don't want Aiden to get a shot, I just don't take him to the immunizations clinic. With military base care, the ped office and immunizations is completely separate.
Mara, that is totally cute!!!
Jackie, :bigarmhug: I am so sorry you have to wonder and worry like this! Please do KUP, and I hope you get it figured out SOON.
No BW today...too cold to leave the house (yes it's 60 and I am a huge wimp).
If they are unwell you just hold off until they are well again, usually minor illnesses pass quickly. If it's not safe to immunise for any reason then the doctors can make that call and be able to make allowances for that. According to my GP if you just decide to space them out yourself id when you pay.
Took this just for ya'll at the zoo today
She usually wants to get down right away at the zoo, but today she actually rode in it contentedly for over twenty minutes, eating peanuts and enjoying the beautiful spring weather. As we walked from the polar bear exhibit toward the tortoises, a light breeze in our hair, I heard a little voice from my back: "Happy."
Um. My life is complete!
That is so cute! So glad you took a pic to share.
No BWing today. I've spent the day a nervous wreck. No results yet on my beta! :banghead:
Ugh. HUGS. I've been thinking about you!!!
Leigh, that is an adorable picture and a ridiculously cute story. Why doesn't my kid say cute things like that?
Jackie- I don't think I've offered any sympathy you way yet- so sorry for what you're going through!! I can't imagine. I hope that, like so many people said, it comes down to some silly lab mess up. Hope your beta numbers come back soon!!!
No baby-wearing for us... Not til Saturday when it will be necessary. Have you all seen the article going around about the family with the tantruming 2year old that got kicked off a plane?? Its on the debate board now. I really hope Beni takes this whole traveling for 24 hours just with mom in stride!!!
Ugh, I don't think I want to hear about that! I have a solo flight with the shorty in June and I am NOT looking forward to it. I am sending you so many peaceful, happy toddler vibes for your trip...
Ridiculously adorable story, Leigh. It appears that Addy is really picking up on this month's theme at daycare.
Flying along with a toddler is intimidating but really its not all that bad if you come prepared. If you're the sort of parent who will let your kid scream for hours on end then I imagine flying might be stressful for the people around you. Since I know that neither of you are that sort of parent then I have no doubt that it'll go well. It'll probably be stressful at times and you'll be exhausted by the end of it but you'll make it through unscathed. Bring several new "blinky-bloopy" toys (as well call the annoying electronic toys) and your little ladies will be in heaven. Leigh, I'd let you borrown T's blinky-bloopy toys but then I'd have nothing to distract her in the car with ;).
I feel like such a slacker. I haven't done any BWing in a few weeks. We've been working hard on the backyard the past few weekends and T has come to really enjoy pushing her little red wagon (or riding in it) on our evening walks. Maybe this weekend at the Farmer's Market.
I wrapped up DS for a catnap when I went to change my insurance over so I never, ever have to deal with this base clinic again if I don't want to! (Aiden's head is rest on the other ruck strap, it's not actually as slumped as it looks lol)
And yes, my beta came back as me being very pregnant. Nurse was an idiot. And she's the one who has to see every pregnant lady first before they get referred off base!
Side note: My husband is getting really great at volunteering to take BWing pics for me when he's out with us! lol
Super cute pic, Jackie! Dare I say you've got preggo glow? Looks like a gorgeous day today. We've finally got our nice weather back today!
Thank goodness!!! I had a feeling...with my two early m/cs, the lines were very faint. Dark, immediate lines are not to be ignored Poor pg ladies getting freaked out by this woman...so glad you don't have to deal with her anymore!!!
Adorable BW pics. My DH is so bad about taking pics (he was a photography major in college...!??!) I'm in almost no photos unless we're with other people.
leigh that's a cute pic!! tfs! such a great zoo day!
mara that airline was out of line in my opinion! if it was truly 5 min tantrum, i flew last year and had a 20 min delay for someone with a history of heart issues, didn't tell the airline that and then had a palpitation before take off, they got to stay and we flew with them on board. then again west jet is ppl plane so they're more lenient. good luck, mini magna doodlehttp://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=10&e=creativekidsproduct&pid=51088
ours is pink! saved the day by far!
haha love 'blinky-bloopy' toys! we ended up with backyardigans on my cell phone in airplane mode!
jackie great pics! boo nurse, yay dh!! mines getting good at knowing what to do for adjustments (hat, glasses, shirt down, straps just right) without asking! NO MORE meanie nurses!
wonderful trip to the pool and back again today, past out on the way home, i'm loving the hood for that! need to go out again later today, dh offered to carry all the heavy bags and let me get my 'workout' in instead of carrying her, but at least he acknowledged it as an option! he knows it's my exercise right now though! even got her into bed, rolled out of the ergo and back to sleep as soon as we got home!
even got her into bed, rolled out of the ergo and back to sleep as soon as we got home!
That's advanced BW!
Great picture and story Leigh!
YAY Jackie!!!! Great news! Idiot nurse!!!!!!
DH is taking tomorrow off and we're headed to the playground. I'll try to remember to get him to take a picture of Olivia in the O&A.
Just a little wear in the bubbalugga tonight because Ronin had a hissy fit while I was trying to do dinner and the ring sling and mei tei were down in the car. I have a big baby wearing day on Sunday though, we are going to a big market day for a festival my town has so even though we are taking the pram I will also have the mei tei (it's been insanely hot since the rain) as I have to be there for an event for Guides but they haven't published what time that is or told the competitors either so I basically have to be there from the start until the parade, which is likely to run into Ronin's sleep time. I will be the baby wearing scarecrow.
I will be the baby wearing scarecrow.
