LONG couple days of full blown terrible twos, not much wearing unfortunately the weather has been garbage. might wear today to go pick up dh!!
hope everyone is having a good day and YAY on new linen coming in!!
No baby wearing the last few days, that would be risking getting peed on as I am trying to have Ronin in jocks most of the time when we are home, but I do have a picture from a little while ago when we took him to the pool.
I know the rings are too low but I had been getting ready to take it off whem hubby took the picture
I love that picture!
no wearing today. Probably none tomorrow b/c I'm feeling sick. Unless something changes for the better overnight, I think I'm canceling our plans for tomorrow which would of had us BWing. *sigh*
Great pic! I've been super sick with strep, so no BW the past couple of days (although on Saturday before I realized how sick I was and it got totally terrible, I needed something to entertain her while DH was busy that was low energy for me, so I did wear her to the zoo and just mainly follow her around.) On the mend now, THANK GOODNESS.
No BWing for me recently... I also had a stomach bug on the weekend, which seemed to only last the one day. I puked twice on Sunday, and then just took it easy. All of a sudden today I feel sick again. Not cool. I hope it doesn't start all over.
In happy news, my ring sling came today, and it is very pretty (it's an "oatmeal" color with a white stripe, and has very pretty stitching). It wasn't threaded though, so I have to figure out how to do it well. I'm not good at doing that. I wasn't sure if I chose the right size, but I tried it on badly threaded and it looks like it will fit just fine, so yay!
Yay for your new sling, Mara! I can't wait to see pics!
I'm so glad you're feeling better, Leigh! The Easter Egg Hunt tickets are burning a hole in my virtual pocket and I was starting to worry someone would be too sick to go. Izzy's finally over what he thinks was probably also Strep. Teagan seems to be doing better after a bought with vomiting, congestion, and probably a sore throat. I've just got some mild congestion so hopefully I'm in the clear. At least I'd better be! I'm so excited for this weekend! Teagan picked out her Easter dress and we're going to have a great time on Saturday. Then Sunday morning its Easter toyfest! I really want to try and get out of the city and go for a hike. I need to clear my head! Perhaps some mountain BWing is in order!
I KNOW, I am so excited for that! It's going to be the cutest thing ever. Don't YOU go getting sick now. Addy's got some congestion/runny nose too, but so far that's all she's got so I'm not worrying about it too much unless it morphs into something worse (please no). It's also our anniversary this weekend, so in addition to Easter fun, we are planning a date night. Sickness begone! (You too, Mara! Nothing worse than being sick while pregnant )
Your sling sounds pretty! The Maya threading instructions had you gather it up like pleats to thread it through, so that it would be evenly distributed and not bunchy. I'm sure there's video on this here internet somewhere...
There's a video about threading on the Sekura Bloom youtube videos. I think Sleeping Baby Productions has info too to help. Glad your RS came in!
Still no BWing here. Aiden and I are both sick and doing lots of chilling on the couch.
some wearing to get daddy but other than that it's been all about walking! weather is good and she's remembered that she can do over 2 miles in one trek before getting tired! like to have it handy though for close to naps or when i know it'll be a long walk (like daddy) DEF bringing it monday though for her birthday, start swimming at 10 am, party room 11-1 with lunch build a bear, cake and the option of more swimming, wish it was legal to just wear her in the car instead of having to transfer her, we may end up spending the day at west ed just to let her nap on me and not have to move her!
oh no ladies i hope sicknesses either don't come back, are short lived or both! for those and all doing an easter egg hunt have a blast! and mara i can't wait for pics it sounds really pretty!! hope everyone is having a great day!
I know! What's with everybody being sick?! Don't our bodies know that it's spring now?
Got a BWing daddy photo tonight!DH voluntarily grabbed our Beanslings MT and put DS on his back! But then asked me how he was supposed to tie it.
Can't get much better than a BWing daddy doing the dishes though.
Love the BWing Daddy! I don't think i've see that MT either yet, what's the pattern on it?
No BWing here for days. DD has been very independent and wanting to walk around and play a lot this week so no need!
As for me, ugh, BW fail, meaning I totally should have and didn't (thinking I'd just throw her in the cart) and ended up going to a second store without carts and blah blah blah CRANKY WITH SORE ARMS.
Here's a slightly better pic of the Beanslings MT (it's turtles):
I haven't used it as much since I got my wrap in January. It's a GREAT big baby and toddler MT since it's so large bodied. It's super comfortable, even now.
BTDT Leigh! Apparently DH refused to BW when he took DS to the commissary tonight. And then came home and complained about how Aiden kept trying to climb out and then was opening food packages DH gave him to distract him with. All because he didn't want to be THAT guy in uniform BWing at the commissary. lol
I've totally been going to the store like once a day the last couple days and DD is being SO clingy and needy... and for some reason I haven't been bringing a sling or carrier! Ugh. She refuses to sit in the cart or walk (mostly- she will sometimes)...if I go again, I am so bringing the Ergo!
Can't get much better than a BWing daddy doing the dishes though.
This picture is almost like porn for mommies...
I love it!!

I put that picture up on FB and it got a few comments including a well liked one from Erin stating "that's hot."
Pretty sure Aiden greatly enjoyed being worn again.
Love the turtles! How large bodied compared to other SSC or MeiTais?
BTDT with the forgetting or thinking I didn't need the carrier! that's the worst! DD is finally almost 20lbs and carrying her is killing my arm when I forget to wear her.
Each of her carriers are slightly different sizes (she gets bored making them all the same size I guess), but they're all generously sized.
Mine is (copied off of the etsy page i bought it from):
Shoulder strap length ~ 88 x 4 1/2 (27 inches of shoulder padding)
Waist ~ 82 x 4 1/2 (23 1/2 inches of padded waist)
Body size ~ 16 x 24 1/2 (including waist)
The straps are too long for me, but I won't chop them in case I ever get brave enough to sell. A lot of moms REALLY want those really long straps!
Wore DD today at Aldi and Walmart - we were gone from the house for 2.5 hours and other thn the quick car rides she was on my back! This is probably TMI, but I really had to go to the bathroom at Walmart and I reallly didn't want to take DD out of the carrier in their icky bathrooms - I managed to pee while wearing her. crazy
Hahaha...I've done that more than once
I've peed many, many times while wearing DS. As a new mom I couldn't figure out how to pee when out with Aiden in a stroller, so it forced me to baby wear more when out. Where we were living often times my stroller wouldn't fit in the bathroom stalls or twist around the halls to get to the bathrooms!
I brought the Ergo along today, but never used it. We spent the afternoon with my mom at the park. Beni had a great time.
OMG, I pee while wearing Beni all the time! Heck yeah!
I love the parents rooms here, they have a grown up size toilet and toddler size toilet in a big space. I did sit Ron in on my lap to pee once at a petrol station because we were by ourselves and there was nowhere else to put him.
Today I wore him in the ring sling while waiting at a petting zoo. The tail on the ring sling is great for amusing them while waiting as well because you can play peekaboo with it. The girl on the gate at the petting zoo got into a being discussion with me because her older sister is a bwer. End result of the petting zoo trip were two almost squished with excitement chicks and a Guinea pig with ptsd after Ronin was done with them
We are going (with Erin, Izzy, and Teagan) to the Easter Egg hunt at the zoo in a couple of hours. I don't know how much I will need it but I will certainly be wearing at least a little. Yesterday I gave her the option of mommy's back or the cart at the grocery store and she picked cart so it's been a few days.
Too funny Wendy!
I wore Aiden in a ring sling for a few hours today. I went out looking at cars with DH trying to narrow down what to get as our 2nd car (one car family we are not lol). Got a few compliments and one hugely raised eyebrow that I was able to comfortably wear my 25 pound kiddo in a ring sling. BWing made looking at cars so easy. I was able to climb into back seats, front seats, and really check stuff out. I can't imagine looking at cars with a toddler without BWing!
Wow, seriously, I don't know how you would either! Find anything?
The zoo was fun, although the big kids raced in and got all the eggs so Addy and Teagan only got 5 between them. Still, they had fun toddling around, and I was glad to have my Ergo since Adair was in a busy/defiant mood and kept wanting to wander off or just plop down and not move. It was an up/down/up/down kind of morning...perfect for SSC BW
I was too busy to get any really good pics but the DHs got some so maybe forthcoming.
I really should have brought the Ergo into the zoo today. I don't know why but I figured she'd be fine running around the entire time. Oh well. We managed. Perhaps I'll go check if DH has any pics of Addy in the Ergo. Or other adorable pics to share ....
We honestly don't know what we want other than if we stay stateside we have to get rid of DH's vehicle (it's quite literally falling apart) and we can't do just one car full time. We looked at small commuter cars, family cars, SUVs, and minivans. Those poor salesmen today were so confused by us. Can't blame them. We can't decide if we want to get rid of DH's car and buy a commuter car with great gas mileage OR get rid of DH's car, have him take my car, and get a bigger family car (3 rows) we can grow into. With #1 we'd have to replace my car when #3 comes along (which could be in 3 years or 10 years, but hopefully more like 3). With #2 we can drive both cars for many, many years (my current car has at least another 8 good years probably several more than that). We're over thinkers.
If you're planning to have #3 any time in the next 5 years, I say go with the 3rd row. Have you looked at the Mazda5? Relatively inexpensive, 3rd row, and not terrible gas mileage. We want to avoid a 3rd row if we can for mileage reasons. We're keeping it at two max but DH's back problems make two car seats in the back difficult. We're hoping that a FF carseat and a RF carseat will work out OK. Our plan is to drive the Subaru into the ground then buy an electric vehicle.
I would say go for the third row if you are planning on number 3, I know a couple of people who have recently had their 3rd with a normal sedan and it's crazy trying to fit seats in, they managed but I can't see how they get the child in the centre in
I did climb into a Mazda 5 yesterday. Loved it other than I felt like a sardine in the back and couldn't sit properly. Other than small kids no body is fitting back there! We can buy a 3rd row for our RAV, but it would be like the Mazda 5 - squished and kinda pointless in the end for us. I think we're going to end up with a *gulp* mini-van. :banghead: They have the space, storage, and better gas mileage.
Honestly, I'm at the age where practical considerations trump almost everything else. If a minivan suits your needs...embrace it We really want to get rid of our truck and get a small crossover (something we can throw the dogs in the back of but gets decent gas mileage) but we just can't afford it quite yet...since that thing has 308,000+ miles on it, though, it's going to make the decision for us before TOO long.
2 should be doable in almost anything, but I agree that 3 in a row is a major PITA. My SIL has 3 kids and they do fit in a Toyota Matrix but it is TIGHT. Their other car is an Expedition, which is comfortable for them but gets awful gas mileage.
I currently drive a Toyota RAV 4 and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Seriously love it. Gets fantastic gas mileage (much better than the sticker says). It's been perfect for our family of 3 with all of our traveling. However, there is no way to fit 3 carseats in it because the middle seatbelt is incredibly wonky. We've had it for 3 years now and I bet we'll get at least 8 more if not another 10-15 years with it. If we do get a mini van DH will drive it as his car for awhile because I don't know if I'm willing to give up my RAV just yet.
I really want a RAV 4, or a CRV. Someday....
We have a CRV. We really like it, but even the CRV would be awful for 3 carseats. If your oldest only needed a booster when you had #3 it would be okay, but otherwise, not so much. Also, with the CRV (unless the models have changed enough), the only carseat that would fit three across would be the Radians. Problem with the Radian - you can't get a good rear-facing set-up according to many car seat techs. The CRV is quite narrow in the 2nd row IMHO.
I think we are going to end up with a minivan when #3 is in the works as well. We'll probably keep our Corolla as the commuter car and trade in/sell the CRV for the minivan. really don't want a minivan, but it's so much easier to get into the 3rd row than any SUV with a 3rd row that I've seen.
#3 is not a problem for us since we're not at all sure we even want a #2, but we still need to trade up eventually. Our family car right now is a Jetta, which has a tiny backseat and would be a pain even to have 2 in, especially since when DH is driving he puts the seat ALL the way back, and there is no way a RF car seat could fit behind it (actually even FF would be a problem unless the kid keeps her legs folded up--her feet stick out between the front seats when he's driving)
Um, ladies... this is the BABY-WEARING board! Ha ha... just kidding! We currently drive a VW Golf... we'll fit two in the back, but, of course, no way we'll do three...and I think two is going to be uncomfortable since they will both be RF. But we're definitely stuck with the car for now, so...
No BWing today... but the weather has been beautiful, if very windy, the last few days, so Beni has been super enjoying running around in the sunshine. I got her a new sun hat in her Easter basket... it's a bit big, and super floppy... she had it on today, and it looked comical. But at least the sun was off her face.
I upgraded my car last year from a Mazda 121 to a honda odyessy. I love my mini van, though would like a newer model one day when we can afford it. Right now we are busy working on getting rid of all debt bar our mortgage so we weren't willing to take on a car loan.
Baby wearing today was to calm Ronin down after hubby left for work because he had a massive melt down and wanted Daddy.
Ignore the dirty mirror and the pushed down back on the MT, Ronin kept pushing it down, oh and my pj's.
OMG a Boba in the colour I was looking at buying has just come up on a local buy swap sell facebook page. When I say Local it's 1.5 hours away, but I'm sure I can arrange pick up. Hopefully I can talk down the price too, but it's only $60 and according to the listing used twice and by the pictures looks to be good condition, and no postage
been a bit but wow what chaos! not much wearing lately, the weather has either been so gross we're inside or so nice that she's bouncing and needs the walk! lol! today will be bringing it for sure though, it's her birthday and we're going to west ed waterpark, considering she woke up at 6:30am i'm thinking it would be silly not to have it handy for a nap at least!
sounds like everyone has been having fun! some great scores and good outings (and some not so great! lol!) i currently ride around on the most roomy vehicle i could get… the bus! lol! haha have a great one ladies!
Ha, if the bus near my house ran more than every 1/2 hour and didn't take such a ridiculously winding route that would make going nearly anywhere other than downtown (which I hardly ever need to go to) take one million times longer than necessary, I would totally take the bus more! It's so much easier to walk out the door with DD in the Ergo and hop on the bus than deal with car seats and driving. We rode it to the rodeo in February since we weren't in a hurry and parking there is a nightmare--and it was delightful!
No BW for us the past few days...no need.
Happy Birthday, Jade!
Wow! Can't believe Jade is 2 already! I still very clearly remember you announcing your pregnancy. Hope she has a fun day.
I wore DS at the park today at a cloth diaper meeting. He played some and was worn on my back some in my woven wrap.
I think I saw one bus here once? It can't go on base, so wouldn't do me much good cause I'd have to walk a good ways to get to it's route. I can't recall ever seeing bus stop signs honestly here so I'm not sure how useful it is. I've never lived in an area where the bus route is actually close enough to me to take. In TX it was a 20 minute drive to get to the closet bus stop that just took you up and down the main drag of the city. I remember being surprised that there was a bus there period, so I looked it up. lol
Oh my aching calves. We took a family hike yesterday after the Easter Bunny extravaganza. I wore T in the Kelty frame pack. We hadn't taken this trail before so we weren't aware of how difficult the terrain would be. The way out was mostly down hill and covered in slippery rocks, which is incredibly difficult being top heavy with a toddler who is making it her mission to try and throw you off balance by leaning as far as she can to either side. I was exhausted about an hour in. DH offered to wear her back but he's got a bad back that just gets worse the longer he's wearing her so he put her up and took off practically running up the hill. Chasing him up after the work out I got coming down was ... not fun. Anyway, it was a lovely hike aside from the physical exhaustion and T had a great time. The pack did its duty. We're just out of shape
I was exhausted about an hour in.... We're just out of shape
Uh, considering I would have been exhausted after about twenty minutes of that, I think you're doing pretty darn well!
Happy Birthday Jade!
yeah, Erin - no way I'm doing that kind of hike with a child on my back! I went to the gym Saturday and lifted weights for the first time since 2008 - can you say sore - my legs are still killing me! No way I could hike, I'm so out of shape!
No BWing since Friday. Yesterday was so busy with family here and the meal and such and today was an easy dinner and daycare day. My legs hurt so much I'm not sure if we'll do much tomorrow either...we'll see!
Erin pretty sure at this point I wouldn't last the hour!
So I made sure to bring my Ergo out and about today because I knew I needed to go to Target and Meijer (grocery store)...and Beni was TOTALLY into the cart today! Lately, she's been SO anti-cart...totally silly. I only ended up wearing her for the check-out at the second store and out to the car. But, hey, even those 15 minutes were made easier by wearing!
Happy birthday to Jade! I'm planning Beni's second birthday party now too...crazy!
As for me... I was trying to go on daily walks, but I guess it seems we've just been really busy... or I have been talking Beni to the park instead. But when I walk, I use the stroller, and I have constant contractions (just BH, but still). There would be no hiking for me right now!
yep bus SUCKS but its cheaper than a car so we deal! ITA easier though!
hope the meet was good! LOL when everyone drives they dont see a need i guess!
glad you had a great hike erin! and i wouldn't even want to try uneven terrain at this point i'm soo used to flat city walks! great job!
sometimes it's those little wears that makes or breaks the day!! good luck with party planning, today was chaos but good! lol!
wave pool was a blast! jade lasted till 7pm when we did early bedtime, 15 min crash in the ergo, then 10min crash in the car was it for nap (usually 1-3 hours still) but she was soo good! EVERYONE at the pool thought it was genius for wearing her in the wave pool (she had fallen asleep and i wanted to stand in the pool!) and for wearing her up the stairs (many stairs) to the inner tube rides!!! ergo buckles into a thick belt so it was great to wear her up, belt it and go!!
for your viewing bw'ing pleasure! the washable ergo!!
and thanks for the bday wishes jade loves seeing all your kids in the siggy's!!
Sounds like a good day Mara and happy birthday to Jade. Ronin loves seeing kids in siggies as well and yells bubba at the screen and tries to touch them.
Guess whose getting and SSC this week, yup, me. I am finally shelling out the cash for a Boba and because my Mum can pick it up and is coming past here on the weekend I get it by the end of the week. So excited, I can use it uptown rather than the pram and we have ANZAC day coming up so I can wear him for the march.
That's awesome that you will finally get your Boba!! Pics when you get it, please
Mara, Jade is so cute. Glad she had a good birthday! I'm not quite sure what you mean about rolling up the Ergo...you mean you are able to keep it snapped up in a roll around your waist? That sounds handy...I'm going to have to remember that
Addy loves the siggy pics too. When she sees Teagan she always yells "TEA TEA!!!!!" and when she sees herself (in the current picture) she yells "EAT!" (not sure if you can see but she's holding a box of In-N-Out french fries in that picture, hahaha)...the others she points with big eyes and says "Baby..."
