Um, no thanks!

that looks way too complicated for me!!! And look how low that baby is on her. Definitely not ever close enough to kiss. Plus being that low will hurt the parent's back way quicker.
Funny how this seems to me like someone trying to outdo or really improve on your standard mei-tai/ssc....but is such a horrible failure, it isn't even funny. There is a reason why mei tais and ssc (which are really just mei tais with buckles instead of long straps, you know?) are used, and have been used since forever.
You know, a relative of mine in Latvia once had a "carrier" that was essentially a Moses basket that had a strap so you could wear it- like, almost like how they carry hot dogs and what not at the ball game. So ridiculous. But, that was a product of the "don't put the baby in any position that they can't hold on their own" mentality. So yeah...if the baby can't sit, don't hold them in a sitting position, if they can't stand, don't hold them upright, and whatever you do, don't you dare put weight on their feet!

So true Mara! Pods are making a big comeback lately. I've been seeing more and more people asking for someone to make them one and then they're popping up on swaps a lot. Pods are exactly what you see in paintings and such from hundreds of years ago in Asian countries (Korea a lot I want to say??). They're basically mei tais with a longer body and no waist straps.
I love these babywearing through the ages photos: Nine Davids: Babywearing through the ages
Uh, that thing is TERRIFYING. And yes, a total (poorly conceived) attempt to reinvent the wheel. No, thanks!
ETA: those photos are so cool, Jackie! I especially love that last one. Doesn't look super comfy but how beautiful!
