The MRI is over :D
Once again, I'm majorly impressed by this hospital and our experience was a million times better than having the CT scan at the other hospital (that isn't a children's hospital). Instead of being in a waiting room with 50+ people and trying to get her to drink the barium stuff, we had a private room and an awesome tech that checked on us repeatedly to see if we needed anything. Alana did vomit about 1/2 way through and she had her lay on her side to rest for a little bit. It did help. The MRI room was pretty neat. One whole wall was glass so we could see a small garden outside. The MRI machine was covered in jungle animals which Alana thought was pretty neat. And the tech was great about explaining everything to her before it happened. Alana was only mildly anxious.
I got to sit near her head and we made silly faces together for the next 45 minutes or so. Then they administered the meds through the IV and she instantly became sick. Poor thing vomited for over 5 minutes and had diarrhea during the process. Worst part was she couldn't move and had to lay there for another 15 minutes or so. She handled it better than I would have, lol. She's pretty much a rockstar and I told her so. She did have a reaction to the tape used for the IV and we were told to ask for paper tape next time.
They made sure she could hold down Gatorade and crackers before we left and then we were on our way. We were told to push fluids today to flush out her kidneys so she's been drinking pretty good. She has had some rough bouts of diarrhea and is refusing to eat which does concern me a little bit. She didn't have this issue when she drank the barium the last time. I'm assuming she'll wake up tomorrow and feel back to normal.
We turned in the last of the stool samples today and we'll get all of the results at our appointment on the 2nd.
I hope they finally learn some useful stuff!!!! (((hugs))) that sounds pretty horrible to have to watch her go through.
Sounds like they are being thorough and taking you seriously.
Jan 2nd is not far off!
Alana is back to "normal" today. She feels better but still isn't eating much. She had a pack of crackers for breakfast, most of a slice of pizza for lunch, and a few bites of pork & rice for dinner. She rarely loses her appetite!
Also, poor thing hurt her finger tonight. She tripped and jammed it on the wall. It is swollen about twice the normal size, even after icing it. Hopefully it looks/feels better in the morning!
How did things go on the 2nd?
