She's doing wonderful! She finished the Suprax (strong antibiotic) a few weeks ago and has been symptom free since! I'm not sure if it was the medicine or eliminating the foods that we now know she's allergic to (or both). Regardless, she isn't coughing and her peak flow readings are consistently high. Yay! The ridiculously high pollen counts don't even seem to be bothering her.
She had another competition this past weekend and did outstanding. She won the "Sugar & Spice" award (a fun little personality award), 1st runner up for Petite Miss Starpower, and 2nd place overall! We were ecstatic! She's such a hard little worker and I'm glad it is paying off for her.
I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but Alana has been battling these stubborn warts on her hands for the last few years. We've tried everything to get rid of them, including duct tape (suggested by the Pedi). Unfortunately they kept getting bigger and multiplying. The Pedi said her body just wasn't strong enough to fight the virus because the meds she's on lowers the immune system, so she referred us to a dermatologist. The dermatologist applied some sort of medicine to the warts which caused them to blister and peel. The first round was minimally bothersome for her, but this second round (she got yesterday afternoon) was excruciating. I felt so terrible for her but she was insistent that it was worth it (she's very embarrassed by the warts). I let her stay home from school today so I could give her Motrin (I needed a day off too! lol) but she's doing much better now, running and playing. She goes for round 3 on the 11th and I hope it isn't too bad for her!
