I know you've been a little shy around these parts but you're planning a beautiful natural birth and you'll be so glad that these last 4 weeks of pregnancy will be recorded. So tell us a bit about yourself, your pregancy and your hopes for the upcoming birth!
I can't belive how fast this pregnancy has gone! I am excited that it is coming to a close and soon we will be able to hold out little boy but I will also miss feeling his squimrs hits and kicks in my tummy, I will even miss my baby belly!
so heres a little bit about us... DH and I ment when I was very young around 12 years old.... we ment at a ball torunment in his home town played together over the weekend and then didn't see each another again until I was 15. At the time My friend was dating his cousin. Shortly after we ment up for the second time we became a couple and have been together ever sicne March 29th 1998.
DH and I started ttc a few months before we got married (August 6th 2005). We had both always talked about and known we wanted to have lots of babies and expected that getting pregnant just happened and we would not have to wait very long... we were very wrong about that. my cycles were irreagular so it made things hard I had come off the pilla nd it really did a number on my body after a year of trying I started looking up various things on line and came across some information on Vitex (angus-cactus) and decied to give it a try as it was said to help regulte things and it did work for me i took it for about 4 months and my periods begain coming on time again and I was on a regular schdule again. Last summer I had a dr appointment at which time i brought up to my Dr. that Dh and i had been trying to concieve with no success and advised of the duration of time we had been trying since it had been so long he referred my to the ob/gyno right away. My first visit with her went wells he explained what we would be doing. I was going to have to give some blood to check my hormones and things like that and then Dh had to give his sample too. everythign came back good on his test and mine was all fine except one hormone that was alittlee off but nothing she advised that shold prevent me from getting preggers. She booked me to have a procedure doen in whcih then injected dye in to me and check for blockages and abnomatiltes in my tubes and such. all that checked out fine i had that procedure done on June 12 08. I was a slightly painful process with lots of after cramping. DH and I decied that month we would not ttc and time things etc but would still do the bd if we felt like it... July 13th i was doing some cleaning and sorting through some clothes and came across some pregnancy tests (i used to buy in bulk online and tst often) so i didn't think it was possible to be pregnant but I figured i would take the test anywas ( i had three of them) just for the heck of it as i figured since i only had three i would need to order more anyways...
So I took the first test June 13th and throw it in the garbage another dissapointing neg.. however fors oem reason a little later i was drwan back to look at it again... and low and behold there was the faintest positive line on the test... my thoughts were oh well it stat to long it must be invaild.. so i took another test and waited a minute and up popped the faint postive line again... at that point i was shocked but still not beleiving that it was really positive. I didn't tell anyone including DH and decied to wait till then next morning and try the test again with a fresh first morning sample and again i got that same result. That day when DH got home from work i handed him the three tests (all nicely secure in a zip lock bag) and asked him what he say and he said two pink lines.. so i told him what that ment and we then went to the drug store to get a different brand just to be sure... we bought a two pack and came home and i took the first one and it showed witout a doubt a dark pink + on it... we were both very excited after trying for so long. I booked my appt with the ob/gyn who had seem me before and she confirmed my pregnancy and gave us our edd of March 20th 09.
We decied to wait and tell people that wew ere expecting I had a gre fear of something happening like misscarriage after having waited so long to get pregnant. so at week 13 we told my parents... my mom at first didn't belive me.. and i suppose it I should explain why. Because we were not having any luck ttc and rather then have people know and ask about it all the time I always told most people my parents included that I had no plans for kids it was easier to tell them that for us atleast. So my mom was shocked to know we were. my dads response was that we were making him old before his time said with a grin of course! he loves kids and is excited to have a second grandson. After we told my parents we then proceeded to tell a few close friends and the in laws. and then the ret of the world... lol basically who ever would listen.
Pregnancy for the most part (aside from the worry during the first trimester) has been relatively easy I would say i did have 24/7 nesaue from the time i was about 6 weeks till i was 14 weeks.
We heard the bays heart for the first time on September 9th. I had tears in my eyes when we heard it it was such a wonderful sound! The dr said basied on the old wives tail of the heart rate we would have a girl.
November 4th we had our first ultrasound... it was a overwhelming experience. The tech who did the ultrasound had me so scared that something was seriously wrong with the baby the whole time she was doing what ever it is they do she had a stoney face and never said a word to me. However once she finsihed what she had to do and invited DH in the room to see the baby for the first time she assured me everything was prefect and as it needed to be. we got 5 pictures of the baby. During the ulrta sound the baby when passing over his legs spread them wide opena dn iw as sure i saw boy parts. but the tech would not confirm anything for me as they do not tell you here what the sex is.
At 17 weeks I started feeling the baby moving. and it didn't take long for those little movements to be more noticable kicks and punches. Dh felt baby move for the first time on November 15th.
From then on it seemed that i felt more and more movement each day and i enjoyed each and every little one of them. things contiuned to progess well. Ine of the drs that i saw requested that i take the 1 hour GD test which i was not overly happy to do becuase of the high false postiive rate, reluctlantly i took the test and as suspected it came back positive. Which then led to me having to take the two hour GD test this one came back fine.
my next visit to the Dr. resulted in them saying they suspected i was carrying a big baby and the requested a growth scan. again something i really didn't wish to do becuase they too aren't accurate. I did the growth scan and according to the dr that did it babys head and femer were right on where they should be but his belly was about a week and a half ahead he then started on about GD... i advised him that i had passed the two hour test to which he advised i should go to the clinic anways... by the time i can get in to this clinic i will be 10 days from my due date and as the blood work that they wanted and insisted i do came back and said things were fine we are opting not to do this. as i should have been more firm on with the groth scan and tests in the first place.
My next appt will be coming up soon (next wednesday) so i am interested to see just what my dr will say about the results. Our goal is to have a natural vaginal birth and I do not plan on being talked in to early induction or a section because of a suspected large baby. Women have given birth to large babies for years without these interventions and I can too. I have complete faith in my bodies ability to brith. I have a great support system for my birthing team and I have a great birth plan too. I am firm in what I want for the birth, i do realize sometimes things do not go according to plan and if that happens we will deal with it at the time.
So that is pretty mucha summary of things so far ( i guess it's hard to call something this long a summary) if you've made it this far thanks for sitcking it out!
I love hearing about your Dad's little grin when you told him... he's always so "manly", it's nice to see a soft spot.
Welcome to your lodge!!!
Congrats on your lodge! Not my first baby, but my son was 9 pounds and still was birthed faster than my 6pd 5oz DD. (And I am only 5'3"). My MW routinely births babies around the 10 pound mark, even FTMs. The moms have bigger babies because they wait until the baby is done cooking rather than induce. Obviously there are a few exceptions, but I bet your body has grown just the perfect size baby for you. I hope you have a wonderful birth especially after all the work you have done to get to this point. Welcome to the homestretch!
