Ack, is it time for this already??? Thanks Joy! I am excited to have a lodge, I can't believe I am there already. Guess I have to work on an intro. I'll do that tonight!
In the meantime, please help by sending low BP vibes! My doc today started grumbling about possible pre-e and I had to get some extra labs done. My BP has been high the last 2 weeks and I am just PRAYING it goes down by Friday when they re-check it. I really don't want to have to be induced.

    Here's my intro:

DH and I met about 6.5 years ago, and it took us 5 years to decide to get married. We got married in August of 2007 in northern California, where we currently live. He's 32 and I'm 30.
DH is from Pittsburgh, I'm from Maine. But we are loving northern Cali and we've been out here for about 4 years. It's difficult being so far away from our familiies, but we love it here. I'm the Education Program Manager for a non-profit environmental organization, and DH is in the outdoor education/adventure industry, so it has been great living up here.
After a little agonizing, we decided we weren't getting any younger and there was never going to be a perfect time to have kids, and since we knew we wanted them, we decided to go for it, despite being a a little anxious about money and giving up our carefree California lifestyle Then it still took us some time to actually decide to start trying. We figured we would have 4-6 months or so of trying before we conceived. Wrong! It happened pretty much on the first try. It was a bit of a shock at first, and took both of us some time to get over the initial "woah!" but now we are both so excited and can't wait to meet this little dude.
This is our first baby and according to the ultrasound we had at 20 weeks, it's a boy. DH met a little kid in the airport named Griffin (who came up to him and asked to look at his Surfer magazine--cute!) and he really liked the name. It took me some time to warm up to it, but I really like the name now too, and we plan to call him Fin for short. Donovan is a family name and that will be his middle name.
When I first got pregnant, I was already afraid of labor. I knew I wanted to do it naturally, but was so terrified I wasn't sure I'd really be able to do it. I went in assuming I would get the drugs if I felt like I needed them. But then I read a few books, including the Henci Goer Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth and Ina May Gaskin's Guide To Childbirth and realized it wasn't the labor as much as the hospital setting and clinical nature of modern birthing that scared me. So I was sold on the natural birth thing. Somehow I came across Hypnobabies and decided to give it a try, so I have been practicing that, and after doing a little research we also decided to try a water birth. So, that's the plan right now.
Unfortunately, my BP has been elevated for a few weeks and my doc is keeping an eye on me for pre-e. If my BP isn't down by Friday, we have to discuss possibiliites. So, I am trying to relax and chill out over the holidays and hopefully get my BP down so I can go ahead with the birth I have planned. Below is a pic from our wedding day, our furbabies Lexie and Angus and a belly pic of me taken on Thanksgiving.

You guys are sooooo cute! Great intro also. How did you find out you were pregnant? What happened when you found out?

Oh, I guess I left that part out.
I had bought some pregnancy tests and was waiting until it was late enough to test without getting a false negative. I had been having some minor symptoms, mostly I noticed my sense of smell was stronger than normal, so I suspected but also thought it could be wishful thinking.
I woke up on mother's day having had a dream that I was inside my body and saw a bloody slimy thing and in the dream this meant I was pregnant. It was tubelike, so maybe a fallopian tube or something?
Anyway, it was still too early to test, but then I thought about how perfect it would be if I found out on mother's day! So I took the test expecting it to show up negative and I'd be disappointed and annoyed with myself for not holding out. But then there was a faint positive line! I jumped up and down around my house. DH was out of town, so I called my parents and only my dad was home, so I told him and then I called my mom and told her, and she screeched into the phone (which is NOT like her, I think she was not expecting that news yet). It was a good mother's day present for her.
I didn't tell DH yet b/c I wanted to tell him in person. I wrapped up the test like a gift to give to him as a surprise. I had to wait 3 days for him to get home, it was torture!!
A few days later I had some spotting and figured I was miscarrying (another reason not to test so early), but I tested again a week later and the line was even stronger. It's been a relatively easy pregnancy, the first trimester was a little unpleasant, but since then it has been pretty smooth sailing up until this BP thing.
