***Joy's (joysiloo's) Birth Lodge!!!***

YES! I get to start a lodge! I think...I'm allowed to do this, right? If someone already did this, please ignore me and post on the first one. But I didn't see one already started.

Welcome to your lodge, Joy!

Tyson and I have been together for 7.5 years. We've been married for 4.5. I met him the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college. I had a summer job in Tahoe working as a deck hand/beach girl for a 55ft. catamaran that did day sails. He was taking time off after college (thought he was going to go to med school) to be a snowboard bum and was working at the Hyatt up there. He used to call all the time to make guest reservations on the boat. Now Tyson has an amazingly sexy voice. Seriously, it's nice. Anyway, I commented on it to a coworker who then told Tyson I had the hots for him...after that he would ham it up on the phone with basically a porno voice. lol. Anyway, he came down to the beach and met me for the first time, asked me on a date and the rest is history. We knew within a week that we were going to marry some day.

Since then, we've lived all over the country, moving both for his job and for mine. Our last move was to Austin, TX. We came here so I could quit my job in NYC and go back to school for my master's in nursing. That's about to be put on hold, as DH got a really great job opportunity in Tianjin, China. We're about 90% sure we're moving there this spring.

I'm a former egg donor (donated 4 times successfully...all couples conceived), so we never thought we'd have trouble getting pregnant. When I went off the pill though, my period never came. I tried taking progesterone multiple times to get things going. It would work that once and then my body would stall out again. I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on clomid. We did six unsuccessful rounds of clomid. I then tried two cycles of Femara...both unsuccessful. We moved directly onto IVF because we already knew I wasn't a good candidate for IUIs (produce too many eggs under stimulation drugs). We got lucky on our first IVF cycle. We transferred two embryos. They both implanted, but one of them never developed a heart beat. My hormone levels were sky high though, so they put me on Lovenox (a blood thinner) to prevent me from getting a blood clot. I was so over taking daily shots...but did it because it would prevent miscarriage.

During the first trimester, I had some major dizzy spells. I chalked it up to pregnancy symptoms. Then, one day at work, I was in major pain. I went to the ER and they thought I had appendicitis. They didn't do emergency surgery because the anesthesia would have harmed the baby. So we decided to wait it out and make sure that's what it was. While I was there, my blood pressure dropped so low that the nurse told me she'd never seen someone coherent with bp that low. That led to them finding and diagnosing a burst blood vessel in my abdomen. I was bleeding internally from the damn Lovenox. I was super anemic at that point. I stayed in the hospital a few more days, was taken off of the Lovenox, and I've been fine since.

I never really had any morning sickness this pregnancy. Actually, aside from the bleeding incident, I've had a wonderful pregnancy.

On Monday I had my first internal exam. I was 90% effaced and 1 cm dilated. I've been contracting in regular intervals since Sunday. Last night I was contracting every 3-4 minutes, with them lasting about 30 secs each. I'm nervous that the baby is going to come before she's 37 weeks.

I'm looking forward to my NCB. I figure after so many interventions to get pregnant, I'd like to have the baby as naturally as possible. Due to the bleeding episode, I risked out of the birthing center here in town. I'm not comfortable with a homebirth. So, I'll be birthing at a hospital with a doula present. My OB is pretty NCB friendly, so that's nice.

One of these is my baby, this is on transfer day...I'm all valiumed out:

Wow! What a captivating story. Sounds like you have lived in as many (probably even more) places than DH and I have -- we were also in NYC at one point; perhaps we overlapped. Smile And, how exciting that you, DH and your baby girl will probably be moving to China. Lots to look forward to. Anyway, congratulations on being so close to your NCB! I look forward to following the rest of your journey. Here's hoping you make it to 37 weeks!

The whole Lovenox thing was such a debacle. I really didn't want to take it, I was afraid. But my IVF clinic (in NJ, different from my fertility doc/OB in Austin) played the whole "dead baby" card on me and scared me into taking it. I never felt right about it. My fertility doc here didn't think it was necessary either, and he's the one that managed my OHSS. I turns out that my instincts and my local doc were right. I'm glad that we have 5 embryos on ice so that next time I won't have to go through all of that again.

We had our last child birth class today. DH was joking that I should just go upstairs to L&D and get checked out since I was contracting through the class. It seems like I start contracting every afternoon and it goes in a somewhat regular pattern (although not getting closer together or stronger) until about 1-2am. Then it lets up until the next day. I'm trying to drink tons of water because I'm thinking maybe the cx are due to me not drinking enough.

I go in for my 36.5 week appt. tomorrow at 11:45.

Great intro!! Hope your appt goes well tomorrow. How did you like your child birthing classes?
I have been having conx as well since Thursday. They were really regular for about 4-5 hrs, but since then, just random (as of Friday, I was 2cm, 30%). I never had this with my son, it made me a bit nervous. It just seems too early.

I hope you make it to 37 weeks! Only a few more days to go Smile

We got married in Genoa, NV. It's at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, very close to where I grew up.

I had a pretty good appointment today. I've only progressed another 1/2 cm, so I'm not as worried as I was before about going into labor too early. Baby's head is still very low. I'm measuring at 34 weeks, but he said it could be due to the baby being so low or, we're just having a small baby. He's not worried. So, I'm 90% effaced, 1.5cm dilated with a baby in position. I'd like to make it past Christmas (although DH wants a solstice baby), but I'll take anything after 37 weeks, which is Friday for me.

So this morning I woke up feeling like my hips and pelvis had been run over by a truck. Ouch. I feel all creaky and old. I've been having sciatic nerve pain on my right side for weeks, but this is rotten.

Okay. That's it for complaints. I'm really trying to keep them to a minimum since we tried so hard to get pregnant and complaining pregnant women used to really bother me.

So, on a positive note, the aches hopefully mean that LO is making plenty of room in there to ease her decent and it will make for less aches during labor (I hope).

FULL TERM!

After being worried for awhile about pre-term labor, I'm so happy to officially be full term!

I went for a prenatal massage today. My employer gave me a gift card to an Aveda spa...it was so nice. Unfortunately, they didn't have the table with a hole cut out for my belly, but it was still wonderful. My back still hurts, but at least for 50 minutes, it didn't. Smile

DH and I are having date night tonight since we probably won't be having too many of those soon. I'm looking forward to not cooking and going to a movie...it's been ages since we've seen a movie.

Have fun on your date night!! Dh and I get a babysitter once a month (or every 6 wks) and go on a date. I swear by it. Its so nice to have that special time with just the two of us...even if we end up talking about Jacob the whole time Smile

Bah. We went to dinner, but I am too sore to sit in a movie chair for two hours. Sad We're going to go to a movie tomorrow instead.

I love the Drafthouse! We weren't going to go there though...there's a big, new theatre close to our house, so we get lazy and go there.

Sorry about the movie, but hey, it is like getting two dates for the price of one!

I am pretty sure we conceived after playing literally playing hooky (I was teaching school and left during my last period plan) last May and going to Jeff Ward at the Drafthouse. (TMI!) DD went home with a friend and I was pregnant 2 weeks later. . . Oh, the Drafthouse is a wonderful place!

Yeah, we did not live particularly close either, but we drove to the Village location a few times a year just for the experience of it all!

For those of you not familiar, the Alamo Drafthouse is an awesome movie theater crossed with a full service restaurant and bar (hence the Drafthouse). They show current movies as well as special engagement events - like singalongs and quotealongs. They used to have a comedy trio that performed live comedy to bad movies called Mr. Sinus Theatre (a play on the old Mystery Science Theater 3000). Super fun evening. So many memories.

sounds like an awesome place. A movie at home sounds much better to ma at this point, at least you can pause it for the potty breaks. Glad you are full term, it is a good feeling.

Dinner was good. It was nice to hang out with just DH for awhile. We've been pretty busy lately and he's been working a lot.

The movie was good too. We went this afternoon and saw Four Christmases. It was funny because my favorite name on our list is Daphne Jo and both names came up in the movie...and there was a baby born on 1/1. I told DH it was a sign and that we have to use my name. Smile

Jo will most likely be her middle name, it's after DH's grandmother that passed away last spring. We've narrowed it down to a few names:
-Daphne Jo
-Elsa Jo
-Isla Jo
-June Joelle (June is my grandmother and Dh's sister's middle name is Joelle...after the grandma that passed away)

DH likes Elsa the best, I like Daphne the best. We both fluctuate though. I could live with any of the names, and I think he could too. We joke that it's going to come down to us pulling her name out of a hat.

I grew up in a canyon just north of Jack's Valley (Genoa area). I love it there. Of course, I'm biased, but I think the Carson-Tahoe area is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I remember traveling through Switzerland in college and thinking...that's it? lol. I love Gardnerville...it's growing so fast though. Every time I go home to visit my parents I'm surprised at the growth.
