Hi Everyone! I didn't know I had a lodge until Janel (camelnoodle) pm'd me and told me! Eek!

I will try to get pictures posted, etc. but our regular desktop computer is broken right now so all I have is the laptop. Anyway, I will be 39 weeks tomorrow! I have been having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions that are new to me since I never had those with the girls. I started losing my mucus plug yesterday, too, so that's progress. At my last midwife appointment on Monday I was 2 cm, stretchy to 3, and 80% effaced. I feel ready for the baby to come, but also feel like there's so much still to do! We have a snow day today from school/work, so I'll try to get some things done today even though it'll be harder with the girls underfoot. DH is here too, so that'll help.

More to come! I'm so excited to have a lodge!!!!!!

Peyton was 3 days early and 7 lbs 1 oz. Finley was 4 days late and was technically an augmented labor and she was 8 lbs. 14 oz.

Just got the girls to bed tonight. We went to the mall so I could walk laps inside somewhere. I walked for awhile and had lots of Braxton Hicks contractions while walking, but nothing since we've been home. I'm doing everything I can think of to get this kiddo to come out and meet us. The housecleaner comes tomorrow so maybe he'll come tomorrow after we have a clean house? Smile

We still don't really have a definite name picked out yet, either. So, we're debating that. I don't want to have him circ'd but DH does, so we're also debating that. It seems there are always loose ends.

I haven't been sleeping well at all- last night I didn't fall asleep till 4 am. My alarm is set at 5 am for work... So, I didn't go in today. Just was feeling crampy and yucky. But, I gradually felt better throughout the day and made it to my chiropractor appointment at 2. She adjusted some things and hopefully that'll give baby permission to turn back around because he's gone posterior on me again... Tonight I'm going to follow the midwife's suggestion and drink a glass of wine to help relax me.

I just joined this board, and am reading your lodge. Hi! I hope things progress quickly, if they are meant to! Relaxing sounds like a great idea. So does a clean house!

Today is going much better! I got about 5 hours of sleep last night, so not great, but better than before. I drank my wine and tried to relax. Tonight I may try listening to music instead of having the tv on. We'll see if that helps. Lots of Braxton Hicks today, especially when walking or being more active. I also felt a few contractions that were different- maybe more realish? Don't really know if that means anything. My friend who was due the day after me had her baby this morning, so that's making me all the more ready to have this kid!

Well, things are settling in so I thought I'd try to write out Canon's birth story. Here goes:

Tuesday night I went to bed as usual- trouble falling asleep, restless legs, etc. This didn't really get much better, and I was having some Braxton Hicks contractions. I was in and out of bed and I think I may have felt a few regular contraction pains, but I don't honestly remember. Around 2:30 I woke up from whatever sleep I was in and noticed strong contractions that were coming every 2-3 minutes. I turned the shower on to relax a bit and woke up DH to tell him this was it. A minute later I realized this was going to go fast, so I had DH call the midwife to tell her to come over and the photographer too. Before DH called the midwife, we prayed for a safe labor and healthy mom and baby. I got in the shower and DH was on the phone with the midwife and she was getting a feel for how often and how long my contractions were. They hung up and she was headed out. DH began to get the birth pool filled with water and I got out of the shower because I wanted to save the hot water to fill the pool. It took about 15 minutes to fill up and during that time, DH was running around- I don't really remember what all he was doing (I know he called his parents to tell them it was time, but not to come over till the morning since the girls were asleep). I labored by walking around and swaying during contractions until the pool was ready. I got in the pool as soon as the temp was okay and it was so nice! I leaned over the side of the pool a bit and labored through a few contractions and then felt the urge to push. I told DH that the baby was coming fast and he called the midwife again to see where she was. She was about 10-12 minutes away still, but I couldn't stop pushing. I felt my water bag pop and looked down and saw a bit of a tinge to the color, so a little bit of meconium. I pushed some and reached down and felt his head- very squishy and lots of hair! DH had the midwife on speaker phone at this point and when the head came out she had him check for a cord around the neck, which there wasn't one (we had been told at my last u/s a month earlier that there was one). Then I pushed more and the rest of the baby was born. DH caught him and then I turned around and sat down and DH gave Canon to me. He looked pretty purple and wasn't crying, but he was breathing. He then gave me a towel and I put it around the baby. DH then got the little bulb suction thing (don't know the technical name) and gave it to me and I suctioned the baby some, but there really wasn't anything there. I was still a bit worried, but he had started to pink up. Then DH went and let the midwife in and when they came back into the bedroom we began all of the afterbirth process. I told her it was all so fast! Canon was born at 3:32 am- about an hour after I started contractions. DH says his name suits him.

Wow! Now that's a bit of a precipitous birth, eh? Congrats! Sounds like everything went wonderfully! And yeah, the name suits him. Wink

nak...

Things are going well. He has his days and nights mixed up, but we'll get that figured out. Nursing is the biggest challenge. With all 3 kids I've gotten cracked, bleeding nipples and it's been extremely painfull. I talked to the midwife about it and she is having me put grated carrots in my nursing pads to help heal and toughen up the nipples. Hopefully that will start feeling better! Canon passed his hearing test and is back up to 8 lbs 1 oz after dropping to 7 lbs 8 oz on Friday. Smile He's a growing boy! More later- I think listening to Mahler is finally putting lil' man to sleep!

Congrats Jenny!

I'm glad everyone is settling in. Three is hard, but hopefully your girls are great helpers.

I told my husband about your birth and he said that if we have another baby (which he knows I want to do at home) he'll get out his dad's catcher's mitt. I also have fast labors.

Well, we're still doing okay. DH is back at work (pilot and out of town) but my mom is here, so that's helping. I'm going to have my hands full when my mom leaves and DH is out of town again. I'm thankful that I've gotten lots of hot and frozen meals delivered from my Sunday School class at church. So, all in all we're doing well. Canon has been going back to sleep after most of his feedings at night the past three nights, so that's been great. He's finally back up to his birth weight of 8 lbs 5 oz as of Friday. We went to the birth center for a weight check and a check on my mastitis, which is doing much better, too.

DH and I are still thinking about whether or not to have C circ'd. I don't want to, DH does. We met with a pediatric surgeon our pedi referred us to, but he wants to put C under general anesthesia for the procedure. That doesn't make any sense to me because that's a risky thing imo. There is a retired pedi that my midwife gave me the number for and we may get in touch with him. I told DH that as long as he's done his research (and I've been sending lots of links) that I'll try to be supportive of whatever decision he makes. All that said, I get very emotional over the issue and cry and have bad dreams. Sad We'll see what happens.

Jenny, I'm glad your mom is there.

I'm sorry about the circ. issue. Sad

Sorry to hear you've been stressed about circ-ing or not. It must be difficult when each parent has a different desire on the issue. Sad
