welcome to your lodge!!!!
Yay, I have a lodge!
Where to start? DH and I met when I was 19. We lived in the same house, different apartments. I was a little nervous about dating him, because if something went wrong, I would still have to see him everyday, but hormones won out. I think we had been together a month and a half when we said we loved each other. We had a rough patch after he graduated and moved away. A year after I graduated, I moved in with him, and things have been wonderful ever since.
We got engaged when I was 23, it was a total surprise, he got down on his knee at the Museum of Natural History in NYC. We got married when I was 26, knowing we wanted to have children someday, but someday far off.
I finally got Dave to agree to move off of Long Island and to upstate NY. We decided to wait to TTC until I got a teaching job and tenure. It took a year for me to find a job, and then three more to get tenure. We started TTC Dec. 2006. On my 5th cycle (I was an obsessive charter) we got pregnant, only to find out it was a blighted ovum at 11 weeks. I had a D&C on June 28, 2007.
More later after I eat dinner.
Congrats on your lodge! Can't wait to hear the rest of your story - really cute pic of you and DH!!!
mommy to the most beautiful princess
We started TTC again a month after the D&C. Unfortunately, it wasn't that easy as Dave travels extensively for work and is gone for long periods of time. We spent a lot of money on plane tickets for me trying to catch the eggie. I saw a lot more of the U.S., but didn't get pregnant. This LO wanted to be conceived at home! Dave came home for a few weeks in December. I was starting to get frustrated, and on Dec. 17, we went to my work Christmas party and I got really, really drunk, which I hadn't done in ages because of the TTC. Well, you guessed it, that was the night we conceived! I took a pregnancy test on the day AF was due, Dec. 29, because DH was leaving again for work, and he wanted to be there when I took the test. Lo and behold, a super dark line showed up!
The darkness of the line helped me relax a little and believe this pregnancy would continue.
My first trimester wasn't too bad, very little morning sickness, just extreme fatigue until week 11. Dave was able to be home for most of it. However, he's been traveling since mid-March, home for only a weekend a month, which has been really difficult. Luckily, my pregnancy has been uneventful and I've felt pretty good throughout it. As a teacher, I have the summer off, so I'm able to stop and rest when I'm tired.
We did have a bit of a scare because the baby was going between breech and transverse, but my u/s this morning showed she is now in proper position, head deep in my pelvis, and ready to go!
A few belly pics:
I've always known I wanted to have a drug free childbirth. My mom had me at a birthing center by a midwife, and she has always talked positively about her labor/delivery of me. She had both of my brothers at hospitals with obs, but natural as well. She has always talked about how great labor/delivery was, so I've never been scared of it.
I'm working with two great doulas (only one will be at delivery) and am taking Hypnobirthing classes. I'm going to deliver in a hospital, but they are used to Hypnobirthing moms. My ob/midwife practice actually encouraged me to take the class. As long as I stay low risk, I will be delivered by a midwife at the practice, and they are all very into natural birth and are excited to be a part of my birth experience.
I think that's about it! Thanks for reading!
