Here we go...........................
I'm 32, DH is 35 and DS is 2.
I met DH 12 years ago when I was attending college out of town. We met at a bar (lol) but we had mutal friends. Once we got to know each other we realized that we lived about 5 minutes away from each other most of our lives as well as attended the same highschool. I even knew at least half of his friends. How our paths never crossed is still crazy to me. I guess maybe it was because we were both in serious(ish) relationships?
We started dating pretty much right away and after finishing 1 1/2 more years of college it didn't take long for me to move in with him. We got "our" first place shortly after that and have been living together ever since.
We had a bit of a hiccup in our relationship about 5 years ago where we broke up and he moved out for a few months. We patched things up and within a year we were engaged...I waited a long time for that ring..LOL
We married 10 months after getting engaged, moved into our first house 5 months later and found out I was pregnant with DS the week after we took possession of the house. It was so nice to not have to help out too much with all the renovations
My pregnancy was pretty much uneventful. We went with an OB because DH had a lot of misconceptions about midwives and he was too nervous. I really didn't like my experience with my OB but I didn't really know any better so I dealt with it.
At 38 weeks I had noticed a little less activity coming from DS and was sent for an ultrasound. It came back fine so I figured there was nothing to worry about. At 39 weeks when the OB used the doppler there was a definite change in his heartbeat. It sound so much slower than usual and I could see the look of concern on my OB's face. She sent me immediately across the street to the hospital to be monitored. I was so freaked out and couldn't get a hold of DH. I was a crying mess and so scared.
After being monitored for over an hour the nurse and doctor decided that it was best to start an induction. They started me with cervidal (sp?) and sent me home for the rest of the night with instructions to take it out at 3:00am. Mild contractions started on their own and by the time we got to the hospital the next morning for them to start the pictocin I had dilated a little bit.
They started the IV at 10:30am and I was begging for pain medication by 2:00pm. Everything happened so fast that I just couldn't take it. At that moment my dreams of having a natural childbirth vanished
I will continue later. Time to bathe DS!
Looking forward to reading the rest of your intro. How fun that you and your DH grew up so close to eachother!
