°°°°°°°°°°°° An Introduction °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Well I was born by the river in a little ole' shack... I wasn't but I always wanted to say that :).My name is Stephanee and I am 32, I am waiting on my first baby a little boy. Ok, I was raised in north Mississippi and Tennessee, with a huge family of a lot of funny and crazy aunts and uncles. My dad is from Mexico though and that is a whole other huge crazy family branch.
I grew with very strong female figures my mom was 6`1 and rode a motorcycle, until she was diagnosed with a weird form of muscular dystrophy, after that I had to really help take care of her, so I was responsible from a young age. Anyway I left home very young and I lived in a Buddhist monastery for 2 and a half years, in beautiful central California. A nun there encouraged me to go to school so I lived in Santa Cruz for a while and attended some school, I was majorly poor so I went to community college, but it ended up being better than my 4 year school.. I ended up traveling quite a bit and after a few years and staying in portland, Oregon some ,I love the west !! I settled into Boise to finish school and made it into their nursing program and just generally did well in school, I loved science and math.
After starting clinical blocks I realized I'd be a lousy nurse and that I kind of detested the vest majority of the mainstream medical establishment. Lol I took a hobby of mine and
decided to take the school to be a mechanic and add it to my academic classes I have the world's weirdest college degree Smile I worked as a mechanic for a while and loved it, I worked on many vintage cars and specialized in the mazda rotary engine.I took a job after a while as a service consultant for mazda and lived in arizona for a while, I also worked for cadillac .
I met my DH in 2000 at a giant video game convention, he was an editor for Hachette press group in Paris and had been a video games nerd journalist since like 1980. We met through another friend journalist I was tagging along with on a trip to LA.We ended up keeping in touch and being friends online for like 4_5 years. He visited once and we fell in LOVE .....

We decided to make our home in France, he had decided to leave the rat race in Paris and try to do a small independent press co. in the south where his family is from.I came here in July 2006 , big cities I can take or leave but I love it here in the south. It is soooooo mellow and relaxed, it was hard to get used to at first but the wine and roquefort helped me acclimate ! We live right by the Roquefort caves Smile mmm cheese!

I never thought I'd be somebody with kids, but now that I stopped moving for a while and fell in love I decided I wanted a little franco-american baby. We didn't waste like anytime and so I got BFP in the beginning of June this year.Being preggo has been uneventful and great for me. I had always had a role model for NCB through my best friend since I was 8. She had her first daughter at the farm ( at my suggestion hahaha) because she was a breech and Ina May was the only MW in the parts that would deliver her. She also had a 9lbs 11oz baby girl in 2000, totally naturally and homebirthed .

So when it came to be time to plan our birth I automatically thought natural birth. However life is soo crazy and we have had a major curveball thrown at us.My LO is transverse, this apparently totally rare for baby number 1 and may have something to do with my uterus or a possible short cord.We are trying everything we can to get LO to move it! I have an acupuncture appointment on Weds. and hopefully the doc can get him moved.
If he doesn't move my the OBGYN appoint I will probably have to have a C section scheduled.
It has been a pretty emotional few days and I can't help but feel guilty. I mean I have a healthy baby here ya know? And pretty much any info I have read says it isn't really possible for him to come out if he stays like this, I just didn't expect this at all. Luckily I live in a really renowned area for childbirth and have a kicka$$ MW for support and honesty.

Anyway this is a total novel .....
thanks if you actually made it to the end I'll add some pics really soon.
OH I joined preg.org because I knew (know) nothing about babies !! they are like little aliens to me Lol they are so teeny, what do you even do with them ???

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°Update °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

Well It has been a pretty busy week here at the home front.I feel like we are both a part of "move the baby 2008' so that is cool to feel so supported.
Monday I went to the pool for an exercise class with the MW.I proceeded to do plunging type jumps and walk on my hands.MW commended me on the upside down form. Later that night - nothing much happened. Tuesday, we had an appointment with MW and just talked about the realities of the C section scenario and my phobias of surgery. I don't feel like she was pushing me into it at all, I feel like she was just helping me to deal with the possibilities in a more stress free environment versus - hospital environment of - " do it because we said so now"
She also said they only practice the multiple layers sections here, which i read in henci's book are the preferable kind. I can't even believe I have to deal with this it is seriously like a weird dream sometimes. She did a sort of stimulating massage also to get him to move a bit.
Last night he was really active with the moon maybe , But I keep having the same sensations that he is like stuck, whenever he starts to move I jump on all 4's to facilitate him.Today we went to the acupuncturist ,who was covered by our national insurance!!!! yayayayayay!!!!! Anyway He did the points on my little toes and then up to just under my knees and then performed moxabustion on my little toes. It hurt to get the moxabustion but i just breathed and kept the eyes on the prize of a turned baby. Acupuncture is so crazily effective for me, so I am optimistic , we are squeezing in 3 appointments before next tuesday. After he performed the moxabustion, I started to get contractions and baby totally started hopping around but then stopped after a while.
We went for a walk after that and now I am home trying to relax a bit.
I found out some family is coming from the US i can't believe it ! it definitely brightened my spirits.

DH says he is taking a picture next time we have an acupuncture appoint
he thinks it is like a documentary or something Lol

Thanks Cindy!

So today I went for the 2nd acupuncturist appointment, and DH brought the camera Lol I decided to wear lipstick to be a glamorous preggo ....yeah right. There is one of me waving hello but DH didn't get the legs in.

and one of the points he used , it was hard to feature the needles but as you can see he put them in my pinkie toes !! And during moxabustion he heated up the needles yowzahh
Anyhoo, my legs and feet look all kinds of pasty, this is probably the closest view I have had of them in 2 months...

°°°°° Emotionally,I feel a little nutso right now. I don't know if it is disappointment,or hormones or what I just feel really weird. For some reason my intuition and body is telling me LO has not moved yet.We have the final appoint with acupuncturist on Monday and then the big OBGYN thing at the hospital on Tuesday.
I didn't add this in my intro but my mom passed away 2 and a half years ago and I'd give anything to just be able to pick up the phone and talk with her right now.The bright spot is our baby and the fact that my aunt and uncle will come a few weeks after he is born.
C'est la vie...

You look wonderful. I'm sorry to hear that you think baby isn't moving. Have you tried filling your tub and relaxing belly down in the water? I hope that he moved while you were sleeping and you just haven't realized it yet. I look forward to an update sometime Tuesday about the OB appt.

A visit from family sounds exciting.. I of course don't know who will be more excited your aunt and uncle or you!

Hey there you!!! Welcome to your lodge!!! I have loved reading all about you and getting to know you better! You my dear are gorgeous, thanks so much for sharing all those photos!!

Sorry to hear about bubs being transverse. A looming c-sec when you are so passionate about NCB can be so very hard, I know b/c I went through it. Max (DS1) was breech and I had dangerously low amniotic fluid, I was like this for weeks and in the end a c-sec at 37.5 weeks was the right decision for me. It was a hugely emotional time for me and I too struggled with the, "but I have a healthy baby" emotions versus the "this is so not how I wanted it to be" emotions. B/c the c-sec ended up being my path there were many things I did to make sure the birth was the best experience possible and I will gladly share these with you later *if* this is the path you need to take. In the mean time I will be sending you every, *turn baby, turn* vibe I can muster!!

Hang in there hun!!!!! :bighug:

Unfortunately this apartment doesn't have a bath just a shower ..booo
I did try the pool this week though, so maybe he moved then and I just didn't feel it .
Honestly I think I was trying to not get my hopes up.
My aunt and uncle are the awsomest spoilers and nicest people on earth and I can't wait to see them they are so much fun to be in their 60's !

Thanks for the support Sarah . Yeah it has been pretty emotional for myself and DH .It is a really rare lie for a first timer and so far we just don't understand why he is like that, other than he might be stuck Lol The MW thinks it is a bit of a mystery too and said maybe he just likes it that way.I feel like a bit of a loser because it but there aren't a ton of options so
I have to do what is best for my boy even if it is frightening. I just hope that we can persuade the hospital to allow DH in the room with us if it comes to it!

You are looking great Stephanee. I really hope your little guy decides to turn soon, so you can stop worrying so much. At least you always have labor as a hope as well. One of my mom's friends had her first baby turn from a breech position to head down during labor. You just never know. Lots of good turning vibes for you.

Oh Bless your heart Stephanee! I really admire all that your doing to try and encourage your little fella to move & am sorry that your faced with this.

Is it hospital policy not to let the father in during a c-birth?

Yup I don't know why they have that stupid policy. Anyway I am totally going to act non french speaking during the appointments ... hoping that they will cave. I read they like to talk to you during the procedure so maybe they can justify it that way. Thanks Chimmy .:)

lol ahh!! Smart girl! I'd be fighting that one tooth n' nail too, when I had my oldest in Ireland they were really strict on who could be there & who couldn't, not sure what their c-birth policies were but for us I could only have dh there, I was sad b/c my parents flew over from the states & I really wanted my mom there. I think it's silly not to let at least one person with you - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that if you end up with a c-birth that your dh can be with you.

Oh dear, that is ridiculous that they don't allow the father in! I would be fighting that one big time! You could refuse unless they let him in! Arrgghhh, that is so stupid! Is it a firm rule or do they ever allow a father in?

°°°°°°°° Quick Update °°°°°°°°°°°

I am totally nervous right now. We went to acupuncture yesterday and the doc heated up the needles twice to get the baby movin' ! Well I don't want to speculate if he moved into position
or not , but we will find out today. Last night he was really almost overly active and I was contracting a lot so there is hope.
But I have to say I woke up today really nerve racked and sleep deprived.I tried to call about the status of our hanging crib thingy from sweeden and DH had to make the call. I want to know how he can be so cool and optimistic 24/7 . ..?
Anyway I'll update you ladies when I get some news.

I can't believe it!!!!!!!! Acupuncture works so well!!! yeeeehaaaa!!!

We went for the OBGYN appointment today and I was so nervous that I was absolutely rigid. We went through all of the rigmarole and it was extra annoying because I had to act like I didn't comprehend or speak french Lol It is hard to do and I slipped up a few times.

Anyway we met with the doctor and she was actually really sweet . She brought us back to do
an ultrasound to find out where baby was and she goes " the head is down"
"see the head is down .. "
After she said that he had just turned down within a few hours!! because he wasn't fully tucked in and his legs were extended out ; his loooooooong legs Smile she said the leg length is full term and that I can expect a long skinny baby. Which makes sense with our family.

Last night at 3 am he had started his nightly acrobatics after the 3rd acupuncture appointment and I noticed that my stomach was all sunken in and alien looking. I knew I felt different but I didn't want to get too excited . He was totally maneuvering around into landing position, yahoo. It is so strange to feel him move in different places now, he gives me more heartburn now too:)

I danced in the hospital on the way out....
It is also funny because my acupuncturist was worried because he wasn't sure that we would be able to get in 3 sessions, but we did and he moved after the 3rd.
I told his dad that he is a procrastinator like him!
I'll be riding on a cloud of bliss all night ....whhheeee
