Welcome to your lodge!
Welcome to your lodge!!! From your fellow Michigander
Welcome to your lodge! I look forward to hearing your story!
Yay, I can't wait to hear your birth story I know you were hoping for sooner rather than later.
Thank you all, i'm so excited!!!!!!!!
Woo hoo, welcome to your lodge!
welcome to your lodge
Wow! So excited you have your lodge!
I decided to see if i could check my own cervix today while in the shower, i didnt think i'd get a private minute tomorrow- which is my 36 week appt- to do it... and... it was too high. i could really only feel the edge of it, which was very very soft, so at least thats a sign of progress!
and i've been battling a NASTY cold all week, started with a sore throat saturday and ruined all the days off i had, but i THINK i'm starting to feel better today. i'm mostly human without cold medicine in me for once!
I have found I have better luck reaching my cerivx on the toilet. Gross I know, but I think your pelvic floor is more relaxed. I am sorry about the cold though that totally stinks.
Yay for your lodge!! Sorry to hear about the cold...that really stinks. Mom's shouldn't be allowed to get sick, especially pregnant ones!
I've tried checking mine a couple times too... I can reach it if I try but not easily, can't really tell dilation but it does feel really really soft too. That stinks about the cold, I've had a bunch of them this pregnancy!
i've stayed really healthy so far this pregnancy, this is my first nasty cold... but its been quite a doozy. i haven't slept much at all the last 4 nights even WITH nyquil! i didnt know it was possible! i stopped taking it because if i woke up i'd rather be just miserable rather than zombie and miserable!
And the best part- DD went to a friends to play so i just spent like an hour standing on a chair so i could see my belly in the bathroom mirror drawing a henna tattoo. i had the kit with DD but never did it, and my roommate from my first year of college was a henna nut so i spent an entire semester covered in henna tattoos, she made the paste herself and everything. IDK if its the essential oils or what but i'm so relaxed and in such a good mood over it now, i can't wait to see how it turns out!
granted it is sloppy as HE!!, YOU try doing it in the mirror! but it makes me happy!
Welcome to your lodge. Sorry about the cold, I'm still recovering from mine. They suck when this pregnant. That's neat about the henna. You will have to post pics.
Haha! Funny about henna in the mirror! Glad it's relaxing you and that you're feeling better. xoxo
the henna is pretty light because it flaked off after about 2 hrs so if it doesnt ripen a little more by tomorrow i'll do another layer on top of that so its darker.
welcome to your lodge!
Sorry you have a cold...hopefully it'll clear up soon and you can rest and then have this baby!!!
Hope you kick that cold asap.
Great job on your own henna, it looks great!
The henna looks really neat! Hope you feel better!
I love the henna, great job!
great job on the henna! i don't think i could have done that one someone else, let alone myself in the mirror
Oh man! your henna work is inspiring, I wanna go do it now!! It looks great! Hope you are feeling better today.
Well, i'm FINALLY mostly over the cold! yay!
And today is DD's 2nd birthday, my baby is getting so big!
Had my 36 week OB appt yesterday, the more i work with certain OB's the more i think that my birth is going to go exactly as i want it to (within reason i mean- nothing is perfect but i dont think i'll be fought on most of my birth preferences, and i know i will be encouraged to go drug free etc)
Even though i don't really believe that the 36 week routine u/s i had was really needed, i did go with it because its a relatively harmless procedure IMO and it ensures that the OBs have nothing to worry about and nothing to intervene with. Baby was measuring 6 lb 13 oz, which was a full 3 oz behind what i was sure that this baby would be, gauging by DD, but either the u/s was off of this baby is just a little smaller than DD i'm looking forward to several things now- 1. not having any OB's try to scare me into a c-section or induction based on the baby's size since projected 40 week weight is uner 9 lbs instead of closer to 10 like DD might have been. 2. not thinking i'll go before 38 weeks and miss my last few chances to work and make money (my last work day is at 38 weeks 2 days, hoping to make it all the way through, but oh well if i don't, i finally started training the girl who is taking over my shifts!)
so this estimated weight (i know it can be wrong) is pretty comforting at least! had a GBS swab, short conversation with the OB who told me at this point we're just waiting for me to go into labor, and i was given permission to go any time, but i'm planning on waiting until friday at least to be 37 weeks.
i also made my next appt for wednesday and got in with the most on -demand OB inthe office who i never even saw with DD until i was being discharged from the hospital! so i'm taking my birth preferences in for her to add to my file. i think the only one they can even argue with is the "please allow me to eat and drink if i am able" and i plan on staying home as long as possible anyway so i won't need to be hungry at the hospital!
I have a pre-birth appt and pre-registration at the hospital on monday, and they do the carseat check at that time to keep things nice and simple at discharge, but i've hit a snag. the cold weather has frozen the mechanism in the back passenger door of our mazada MPV, so i can't reach across from the driver's side with a baby, and i'm not sure where to move the carseat to. its like a minivan with 2nd row bucket seats and 3rd row bench seat, but kinda cramped, and with 2 regular doors instead of a sliding one.
I think our best bet is to put the infant seat in the middle of the back seat, beside DD's convertible seat which is FF in the back seat on the driver's side. I think thats the only way to reach both carseats from the one working door. the 2nd row bucket seat on the driver's side is like permanently tipped forward so we can get DD in and out eaisly anyway. That will be a fun adventure for morning not my favorite thing to do to climb in and out of the car at this stage, sitting in the carseat to snug it up etc.
Pre-brith appointment for pre-registration and paperwork at the hospital today! I'm starting to get excited Then i THINK DH and i are taking DD to the waterpark, and that will feel SOOOO nice
And for more exciting news : i had a pretty long day yesterday, ran around doing chores all morning, went to work, got home and packed DD up for a birthday party with a friend, so after sitting at her house for a couple hours i started getting uncomfortable. and i just happened to be trying to relax and started watching her clock. i was getting uncomfortable for like 30 seconds every 5 minutes. but i'm not quite ready to have this baby, and it was a LONG day, so i asked for a big glass of water. and felt nothing for 15 minutes, then it faded completely. Stress induced pre-labor! at least i kno my body is getting set up! suddenly glad i have this appt today to register because if DH is correct then sunday is D-day!
Its nice to have all the paperwork and stuff done ahead of time! That really sucks about your car though. But the waterpark sounds like a good time!
Sunday is my guess date too.
Guess dates can be pretty accurate. When I was due with DS2 I had a feeling about, or around, the 22nd and I went into labor that night. With DS1 I was way off though. Like 10 days off. lol. I was right about the 8 in it though. DH was right with him.
Sounds like a good appt. I am glad you have your paperwork done. Happy Birthday to your dd.
got some very useful information today! We finished the pre-birth registration at the hospital, and when i mentioned that i wanted the good room with the good tub the lady told me when i call the hospital to tell them i'm coming in, i should ask for that room (i guess the epidural rate is going up here, so most women don't even need the tub because they'll never see it! so i need to ask for room 179 or the other room with the big tub because then they can give me the good room and put the epidural mamas in the plain square rooms with regular tubs! yay!
Sounds exciting that you're getting everything ready with the hospital, and that you feel confident with your doctors!
That's awesome that the hospital will let your reserve a tub room by phone. Our hospital only has 1 tub and it is first come first serve. I hope you get one of the tub rooms, a water birth sounds dreamy.
Oh that was awesome you got that advice! I'm excited for my waterbirth - can't wait to swap stories!!
after i read those articles i had the most amazing dream! dreamed i was in labor and i was totally zoning out with every contraction, listening to my body, and i had a fat little 9 lb baby that i caught all by myself and it was SOOOO easy! GOOD DREAM!
You are getting close! I can't believe it!
Love that they told you how to get the good rooms, that is wonderful and I'm thrilled that there is a good chance of it!
I am glad you are able to reserve the tub. Our hosptial has one tub and it is first come first serve. It isn't in a patient room though. You just never know when you get there if you will be able to get in or not.
There are 4 delivery rooms at this hospital and they all have tubs, but one has the tub outside of the bathroom and i guess another one has the second "good" tub and the other 2 are just extra big bath tubs, which is still probably going to be nicer than my home tub. And whenever i talk to ANYONE they really seem to think that you'll be allowed to use the tub if you want to barring an epidural or extreme complications. In fact, i know a friend who actually DID use one of the tubs and had a waterbirth, but that was years ago when they were brand new!
Even though its only been 5 days since my last OB appt, i have one today because this is when the OB i haven't had a chance to see yet was available, so hopefully my GBS test came back so i can at least know the results and be able to plan if i'm +. Need to find that copy of my birth plan now...
I hope your appointment goes well!
Appointment went GREAT! double great! Only parts that were not 5 star, i gained ANOTHER 2 lbs, but i know where it went now, AND even though i told the nurse not to use the automatic blood pressure cuff because it doesnt like me, she used it and my BP read really high.... so she re-did it and it was only slightly high. but its been GREAT for my entire pregnancy so i think its just the damn machine!
So i talked to the Dr, this is the one that is really hard to get in to see because she's so awesome and so busy, she went over my entire birth plan, thought my personal notes were funny (i put on there that i don't want the bed broken down and everything for hours on end and that i might not answer to Ms. H so please just call me Jenni or sweetie or honey, or whatver)
and... now for where my 2 lbs went! The last time i got measured was 34 weeks, i was 35cm, just a little ahead. Today, not even 37 weeks, i'm measuring 42. 42. seriously! Baby is around 7 lbs from u/s and from Dr's estimate- i agree, feels a lot like Ellie did and this one is half a lb behind her, and the u/s tech did say i had a lot of fluid..... so.......
at this point we're still just waiting to go into labor!
Sounds like a ggod appt.! WTG on growing that baby!
That is awesome about the water birth option at your hospital. I hope you get the 'prime' tub room during your labor.
After considerable thinking- i actually think my birth preferences are going to be respected... for the most part. i'm sure SOMETHING is going to throw a wrench in the plans but we'll see what that is, could be as simple as GBS and having an IV. could be unforseen complications but this is what i can tell-
the OB who delivered DD is 1 of 5, and him being the most interventionist- still didnt even consider an episiotomy, i tore naturally.
when i called the cafeteria to get food... they said the liquid diet restriction hadn't been lifted yet so i had to make the nurse call and fix it etc... but they said LIQUID DIET, not NPO... so i think they WILL let me eat, at least a little bit. and nobody is going to yell at me if i do it!
the last OB i talked to, when we went over my birth plan, said that there are nurse MW's working as nurses in the hospital.... since they are no longer supported to do things themselves by the OB's they just kinda took a step back towards nursing instead of the larger role of CNM. which means i dont think they will be the type to say "don't push til the Dr gets here!" they're more like "Dr if you don't run you're gonna miss this!"
and i opened a package of NB diapers today and almost cried! so tiny! so cute! i'm SOOO ready for this baby!
if i was a chosing woman, i'd be picking feb 6th as soon as i get out of work to go into labor, i want to continue to work and support my boss, but at the same time, i'm so ready for baby! thats my last scheduled day of work and i don't want to take any more time off than i have to! and if i knew baby would behave and wait that would be helpful, but at the same time, i can't know that!
Sounds like things are going pretty well. GL!
great news that your preferences will likely be honored without a fight!
I hear ya on the NB dipes looking to itty bitty. I did that with the diapers and the clothes...held them up for DH and said "look how liiiiiiitle!"
Welcome to your lodge! Sounds like you have all your ducks in a row. The hospital you're birthing at sounds SO MUCH BETTER than the one maternity care hospital we have here.
When we were getting ready for DD DH was folding the new socks and litterally, his huge fingers fit inside each sock, he was folding with just one finger! so frickin cute!
Conned DH into DTD to see of this LO is ready to be evicted.... even though i have big plans for tomorrow and i have to work saturday and sunday......
That really does sound like a great hospital! Sounds like baby is growing nice and big for you!!
My midwife said DTD! The more, the better! LOL
Well i got some action last night, x2! we DTD and just like when i was pregnant with DD, started having some contractions within an hour. then i nursed DD to sleep and it got pretty uncomfortable... probably more because i was trying to get things done than trying to relax etc... tried to time them a few times but they were really irregular and some were like regualr contrax and some were like really mild ones that just kind held on for a long time... 4 hrs later i was getting ticked because i knew they weren't really doing anything but wouldnt go away so i could sleep. then they did go away, and i did go to sleep. not much so far today. DH just got a new job and asked me to wait until after he gets out of work today to go into labor LOL.
so at least i feel like my body knows where its going just a little, we're getting there!
Your getting there!
Tiny diapers are so cute. I totally worked the 'liquid' only policy & kept order milk, lol.
How are things going? Any news?
