Welcome to your lodge!
Woo Hoo! Welcome!!
Yay! Welcome! Can't wait to read your story!
welcome to your lodge!
Thanks for the welcome! I know I haven't been a very active board member, but I should be able to contribute more now that we are on a better schedual at home (for now) I have been reading daily, just not posting very much. I'll work on my story and post later today or tomorrow.
Yay another lodge- welcome! Can't wait to read your story!
DH (Ty) and I met online in late 2004. He added me to MSN, and left it at that. Early January 2005, Ty sent me an IM telling me about the bunny his boss brought into work that day (I had a picture of my bunny as my MSN picture). We didn't stop talking after that. We finally decided to meet in person January 22, 2005. Instant connection.
This was us summer 2006
Unfortunately we split up between September-December 2006. We got back together just before Christmas. We both really wanted kids, and started trying pretty much right away. We got pregnant March 2007. My mom was less than thrilled (I was 21 at the time) and didn't acknowledge the pregnancy until I was in the 2nd trimester. But when she came with us for an ultrasound, he became her world.
DH and I went on a babymoon in June on a cruise to Alaska. It was heaven. We weren't a fan of the dinner menu, but went every night anyways. After dinner, we went back to our room, napped, and then we ordered room service at midnight. I always had a fruit platter and hot chocolate. Yum! This was us in Alaska at the Hubbard glacier.
I gave birth to our son Jaidyn November 16, 2007 at 2:22am. He was 11 days early. I was 5 cm before I even went into labor with him. My doctor stripped my membranes about lunch time on November 15, and he was born that night/next morning depending how you look at it.
When I went to the hospital in labor, they didn't believe I was in true labor. So they let me get in the bathtub to see if things slowed down. I had planned on an epidural. I didn't know what to expect. I hadn't done a lot of research. I did have a student doula, but before she came to talk to our birth class, I had no idea what a doula was. Anyways, when I got out of the bath, I was 7cm. The nurses told me that it was too late for an epidural and offered me a shot of fentynol. I took them up on that. After an hour when it started to wear off, my doctor came in and broke my water. I was still at a 7 at that point. I was given another shot of fentynol, but it was useless at that point. I was in transition, and the contractions were on top of each other. 45 minutes after my doctor broke my water, I was at a 10.
The nurse that I had for my labor until that point left, and in came the woman who called herself the mean pushing nurse. She had me in every position possible trying to push. In the end she left me alone to do my own thing. The contractions were so close together I couldn't figure out the timing of when to push, or how to push properly. I spent the first hour figuring that out. The second hour I finally got the hang of it. All of a sudden, I felt the ring of fire and I was screaming for my doctor. Out came my beautiful baby boy, 7lbs 2oz, 20 inches long.
to be continued...
September 2008, my cousin was getting married in England. My dad used his airmiles and flew the whole family over to England for the wedding. DH (boyfriend at the time), asked my parents at the wedding for their blessing to propose to me. I didn't know what he was doing at the time, but my parents were crying. This was us at my cousins wedding.
We flew to Spain after my cousins wedding to the island of Mallorca. As soon as we got to our hotel, DH was dying to go down to the beach. I couldn't figure out why he was so desperate to get to the beach. The beach was gorgeous. I was looking out over the water. DH says "Laura, Jaidyn and I have something to ask you." I turned around, and DH is on one knee, with Jaidyn sitting on his knee and a ring in the other hand. He asked me to marry him and I threw my arms around both my boys and said yes. This was the beach where DH proposed, and of course DS at 10 months old.
We got married April 25, 2010. It was a perfect day. I don't know what else to say about it. DS was a star, and threw a tantrum while the ceremony took place. He wasn't crying. But he was lying face down behind us as we got married. We had a Sunday lunch time wedding. The day flew by.
We started TTC #2 on our wedding night. We took off on our honeymoon later that week to Mexico. We had an amazing time. DS stayed with grandparents for the week, so we had a wonderful child free vacation.
We ended up conceiving not long after we got home from our honeymoon. My cycle was so screwed up though that I has no idea I was pregnant. I was taking OPKs and getting positive ones every night. Which I thought was strange. I took a HPT, an internet cheapie, the morning I was leaving for my friends stagette and up popped 2 lines. I used a first response test, and 2 lines popped up. Brought out the digital test and "pregnant" appeared. I was in shock.
This pregnancy has been difficult to say the least. I've been in and out of hospital for various issues. Starting with blood pressure issues (normal now), then to chest pain (turned out to be bad reflux), on to a kidney infection, undiagnosed back pain (had 2 cortisone type shots in my upper back close to my spine). There's other issues, I just can't remember them all. The only good part is that as of today I have only gained 11 lbs this pregnancy.
Anyways, is my latest belly picture at 36 weeks. Plus a 3D ultrasound picture of this little guy at 27 weeks.
So, that pretty much sums up my story. Sorry about the novel.
OMG, that is SO sweet how your DH proposed, with your DS on his knee! Hopefully the remainder of your pregnancy will be uneventful!
Welcome to your lodge! I enjoyed reading your intro! It is so exciting to finally see February mama's getting lodges!
I had my 36 week doctor appointment yesterday. I'm just going to copy and paste from my BB.
Nothing really to report. Baby is growing well. My weight was down 2 lbs in 1 week. A total gain of 11 lbs to date. Ask me how happy I am about that!! My doctor is pleased :eyeroll: with all the contractions I've been having. Since we made our goal of 36 weeks, the new goal is 37 weeks (Saturday). Although she asked me not to have him on Saturday because she will be out of town.
If I still haven't popped by my appointment on Monday she said, in her words, that she will "shred my membranes to bits." I'm excited and nervous out this. Baby seems to be ready and my body seems to be ready. Baby boy is working on the exit, but can't figure out the lock lol. With DS, she stripped my membranes, and I went into labor that afternoon. Assuming baby is ready to go, I'm guessing based on DS that I may have a baby late Monday, early Tuesday.
This pregnancy has been so rough, I'm ready for babykins. I can barely walk and I can barely take care of DS right now. I feel so bad for letting him watch so much TV, but sometimes, I just can't do anything else because of the pain and lack of energy.
Do they want you to deliver early?
I guess I'm a little late to say welcome to your lodge! I really enjoyed reading your intro!
Sounds like you are ready for some action! I hope everything goes smoothly.
Wait, what? Already February due dates? I can't believe ladies from our BB are starting their lodge This is exciting and means I have less time than I thought I did!
I enjoyed reading your intro and look forward to hearing about more of your appts and BIRTH STORY soon
Welcome to your lodge. I love that your DS was face down pouting during the ceremony, what a hoot!
Wow! Welcome to your lodge! It was nice to read your full intro.
Can't believe you are expecting to deliver so soon!
Yay, you have a lodge! I can't believe its that time already.
So sweet your Dh asked for permission to marry you before proposing! They just don't make them like that anymore.
I'm anxious to see how your labor progresses!
Nothing really to report today. Back when I got pregnant, I told DH, "Watch me go into labor when we get a really big snowfall." We don't get lots of snow where we are. But there was a foot of snow in the forecast last night. When I looked out the window and saw snow last night, I started cramping, which lasted an hour. Made me a little nervous at the time.
I had some energy this morning, so I took DS to the mall for playtime at the indoor playground. And did a lot of walking around. I'm feeling lots of pressure, but I'm sure that will settle down. I'm not too worried about popping early anymore. I think he will hang on until Monday/Tuesday at the earliest. I was 2cm last week, with my cervix being 0.5cm long and baby's head engaged. But with DS, I was 5cm before labor started. So I'm not too worried.
Of course after I type this, I sneezed, startled baby, and had a mild contraction. Haha. Oh well.
Haha - don't you love it when any movement starts a contraction?? So annoying!! Glad you're cooking that baby a little longer - take each day one at a time...
I get contractions when my baby moves and I am not even 25 weeks yet. LOL Hang in there.
Woohoo!! 37 weeks today And my doctor didn't think I would make it...
Car seat installed
Hospital bag packed and in the car
Diaper bag packed and in the car
DS's bag packed and in the car
Now to wait for baby. And to post a 37 week belly picture later.
Yay! Sounds like you are ready!
Just dealt with 5 hours of false labor. Definately feeling like contractions, but only a few of them had me questioning if it was the real thing. The practice/false labor took a lot out of me. I'm exhausted.
That totally stinks, I am so sorry.
Sorry about the flase labor. I can't wait to see some action from you!!
I'm having contractions ALL the time now too. Dh keeps giving me funny looks and asking if I'm ok.
Sounds like your body is almost ready!!! And sounds like your nesting is getting you and your family ready
I had my 37 week doc appt today. Baby and I are doing good. Baby was super active and avoided the doppler at all cost lol. He was straight in my belly head down and bum sticking way out there. She did an internal and I was at 3cm until baby pushed down where I measured 4cm. She asked if I wanted her to sweep my membranes and I said yes.
I've been crampy all day with blood tinged mucous. Of course now that I'm in bed trying to fall asleep contractions started up. Right now they are 4.5-5 minutes apart lasting 30-45 seconds. These ones feel different. but i dont think il beleive im in labor until they tell me its time to push. hopefully this is it and not more false labor.
Ooooh, how exciting!! Hopefully you can get a little rest before things kick into high gear.
Woo Hoo!!! Keep us posted - hope this is it for you!! (((ELV)))
I've tried writing a reply 4 times and I keep getting cut off. Stupid blackberry and computer...
Anyways... I ended up going into the hospital Monday night after the contractions were 2 minutes apart lasting for 60-90 seconds. Unfortunately the contractions were not strong enough. I was sent home at 3am with sleeping pills and slept until 11am (heaven).
Since then, I have been contracting randomly. I've lost my plug and still loosing. Soooo gross. I can get some pretty strong contractions with nipple stimulation within a minute or 2. I know baby will come when he is ready. But being this far dialated is so uncomfortable. And today I've been having crazy pressure that makes it difficult and painful to walk.
We are all staying at my parents house which is only 15 mins to the hospital when not pushing the speed limit too much. From our house, its 45-60 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. And plus this way, DS is already at my parents house, so if we have to leave in the night, we are not dragging him out of bed. I can't wait to get back to my bed instead of the sofa bed at my parents.
Baby seems to be in perfect position to come out. DS even said "out please" yesterday. DS was 11 days early, so I'm still hoping for any day now. I'm already getting annoyed with people checking up on me daily and I'm not even at 38 weeks.
Sorry for the random thoughts.
First time this week I've been up in the night. My hips woke me up just killing me. Plus some mild cramping. I keep having some random cramping in random areas of my belly too. Ugh, I want to go back to sleep.
Just remember that "false" labor is not false. It is your body getting ready for the final delivery. Hang in there I know it is hard.
i agree...hope all these uncomfy cramps/contractions are making progress so labor will be faster once it comes!
38 weeks! Pretty good considering the doctor didn't think I'd make it to 36-37 weeks.
Braxton hicks are getting stronger. Having random contractions. Can't wait to meet my little man.
Yay! Happy 38 Weeks!!! Your body is doing a great job getting ready and you are doing great staying patient. That baby is gonna come at just the right time and be perfectly baked!! Go you! I hope you sleep better, rest is heavenly!
Any news? Did the contractions pick up?
My water broke on the doctors exam table. She was checking me, did a little sweep and said "whoops, I think I broke your water." So now I'm sitting in the lounge waiting for a room. And the contractions just started picking up.
It's BABY day!!!!
YAY!! I can't wait to hear how it all goes!
Congrats and let us know how it goes.
Yay! Congratulations! ELV's heading your way! I'm excited to hear your birth story.
Baby Bennett arrived last night at 11:43pm. 6lbs 9oz 19.25 inches long. He is such a little peanut.
Oh wow- congrats!!
Woot woot!!! More congratulations!!!! Can't wait for pics and birth story!
Congrats! Can't wait for the story!
congratulations! can't wait to hear/see more
Congratulations!!! Can't wait to read your birth story!
Whohoo congrats. I can't wait to read your birth story!
How are you guys doing Laura?? Can't wait to hear an update! Welcome Bennett!!
Sorry about the length. I have a writing problem lol.
I went to my 38 week (and 2 days) appointment on Monday January 24. Much to my doctors surprise I was still pregnant. She checked my blood pressure, baby’s heartbeat, and my belly size. Everything looked great. She asked if I wanted her to do another membrane sweep. I said sure why not. She hadn’t done very much when she paused and said, “Whoops, I think I just broke your water.” My water broke all over the exam table, and went everywhere. She rechecked baby’s heartbeat and he was still doing great. She told me that my cervix was about 3-4 still, same as last week.
I asked the doctor what do I do now. She asked about my GBS status and I didn’t know, so she checked my chart and it was positive. I was sent across the street to the hospital for monitoring and to get the antibiotics started. This all happened around 11am.
When I got to the hospital, they didn’t have any rooms available for me yet, so I went and sat in the little lounge, and watched TV, trying to move as little as possible. I didn’t trust the pad to hold much leakage. I got into a room and into a bed by 12:45. I was hooked up to the monitors. I had some contractions pick up, but they were still super weak. I was then started on the antibiotics. Once that dose was done, the nurse locked my IV, disconnected me, and told me to stay on the floor. Back to the lounge I went to pace and watch some TV.
DH came up to the hospital about 2:30 after tying up some loose ends at work. Then we started doing laps around the floor to try and get things going. I also tried to have a nap. I had my second round of antibiotics in there too. Contractions still weren’t picking up.
The nurses changed shifts at 7:30pm and my new nurse came into the room. She told me that the OB on call was getting a little worried about lack of progress and being GBS positive. She said that the OB wanted to call my doctor and discuss inducing labor. I was upset, asked some questions, and waited to hear what my doctor said. I really didn’t want to be induced as I have heard nothing good about oxytocin and the level of pain. I was really hoping to deliver as natural as possible, and I was scared that my dreams of that were going to be shattered.
At 9pm, the nurse came in to start the induction at the lowest level. Instantly the contractions got stronger on the monitor, but I wasn’t feeling them. My nurse suggested walking around, or lying on my left side. I tried walking, got nothing, and then tried lying down on my left side. WHAM!! Contractions hit me and they were intense right away. That was 9:15. At 9:30, the nurse came in to turn up the level of oxytocin. I felt like in needed to pee, and with some help from DH, I made it to the bathroom. The contractions were so intense, and on top of each other. I was sitting on the toilet crying so DH got the nurse. They got me back to bed and my nurse started running the bath for me. DH was amazing reminding me to breath, and trying to keep me focused.
Once in the bath, a bit of the edge was taken off, but the contractions were still intense. My nurse called my doctor to come in. I managed to get into a position I could labor in where I could rest in between contractions. Baby was putting so much pressure down there I had to be tilted to one side. I was able to go into a sleep like state between contractions. But I was able to hear my baby’s heartbeat on the monitor and whenever it picked up, I knew the contraction was coming. I yelled “No!” a lot during contractions while trying to blow them away.
My doctor convinced me to get out of the bath. I could hear her whispering to the nurse that she thought I was ready to push. I thought she was full of it and was going to cave and ask for an epidural. I couldn’t handle the pain anymore. Once on the bed, I looked at the clock, and it was 11:15. My doctor then said, I could push if I wanted to. I didn’t believe her. So she checked me. I asked again if I was really ready to push and she said yes. I still didn’t feel ready to push though.
Finally my doctor and the nurse convinced me to try pushing. It took 2 pushes to bring him down. My doctor was freaking out getting the nurse to put new gloves on her hands. One more push to get the head out, panting to let the doctor get the cord off of his neck, and one more push to get baby out.
Bennett was born Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:43pm, only 2.5 hours from first nasty contraction to my son on my chest. He weighed 6lbs 9oz, and was 19.25 inches long with a full head of dark hair. He was perfect. I did it all without pain relief. I’m still shocked myself about that.
About 30 minutes after he was born, I started getting some nasty cramps and started shaking. The nurse checked me, pushed on my belly/uterus and out came a bunch of clots that I was told probably equalled the size of the placenta. They got everything under control and I have been okay since then. Kind of scary at the time though.
He is a really good baby so far. He only lost 3.25% of his body weight on discharge. He is nursing like a champ and sleeps pretty good too. 3-5 hour stretches. His fussy time right now is between 11pm and 3am. He LOVES being held. He prefers to sleep in my arms/beside me.
And now, the pictures!
After his bath
WOW, what a fast labor, and awesome you did it without pain meds even though they gave you pitocin! He is so adorable!
