WOOOOOOOT!!!

YAY!! I wasn't expecting to see this just yet! YAY!!!! I can't believe I have another lodge!!! I love reading through my old lodge with Violet. I have it printed off in her baby box, even.

K, so here's a short intro for y'all!!

Married DH, Greg, nearly 4 years ago. We've been together 10 years this year though, just out of highschool. Our DD, Violet, was born April 2008. After a somewhat painful pregnancy (costochondritis, hiatus hernia inducing heartburn like hellfire, breaking a toe, needing stitches in my thumb after slicing it with broken glass, planter erythema, etc.) I had an absolute DREAM birth. She came at 39+3, early in the morning. My water broke and after 4 hours I was holding my baby daughter. She was born at home in a pool set up by the patio doors. The sun streamed in through the blinds while DH caught our baby and pulled her up to the air and handed her to me. It was magical.

Link to her birth story.

Link to her birth story as told by a series of photos.

This pregnancy has been damn near identical to hers. The only difference is that my ms was way worse this time. I was on Diclectin for the first 15 weeks. It saved my sanity. Since then, this baby has been so similar. He/she loves the same position (ROA), my belly is shaped the same, I'm measuring at the same rate (always a week behind), same fetal heartrate etc. We didn't find out the sex of this babe at our 20w scan, so it will be interesting to see if it's a boy or Violet's identical twin born 2 years later. lol.

We're planning another homebirth. All is set up to go in our dining room. We've got a La Bassine birth tub to set up next week. My birth kit is all ready to go and my nesting is dwindling as I finish tasks.

I am suffering with the costochondritis yet again, so it makes me relieved to know I'm near the end. I can't wait to meet this baby. I'm not opposed to going the 2 weeks past my EDD, but I must say, I do hope this LO comes in a timely manner, like his/her older sister. Smile Not to mention, my EDD is also my mom's wedding date. So, that will be fun to either be DUE or holding a newborn. Can't wait to know for sure!!

Thanks for the welcomes!!

Welcome to your lodge - I remember Violet's birth story and can't wait to hear about this one! You are an inspiration to me - I would love another little one so it's nice to hear of other families with more than 3!

I have to tell you that I adore the name Violet. I really wanted my Zoe to be Violet (DH said no b/c our last name begins w/a V:rolleyes:)

Your birth story sounds lovely. I hope this one is equally as fast.

What a wonderful birth story! And kudos to you- so few moms know what they want with their first labor. I love the pictures- I may even show them to my husband, they are so, um, not gory (he's terrified by the idea of a gory birth- my first one was. He won't watch any birth videos but your pics may be just the thing.

Hey, so if anyone is interested in a quality kick-count-- go to a concert. lol. My two (also pregnant) sisters and our mum and I went to a concert this past weekend. For those who might know of them it was Leahy and Natalie McMaster. Cape Breton/Gaelic fiddlers. So, very rollicking, energetic and loud. The babe was doing the same highland jig's that the performers were doing. Lol Lots of fun. Smile

Hahaha...I bet! This baby also really enjoys movie theater movies with lots of music in them.

Thanks everyone!

I'm just watching Friends. The episode where Rachel has her baby. It has to be the best birth on tv there is, as far as extremely mainstream shows go. Rachel goes to 41+1 without talk of drug induction. Goes into labour on her own. Labours without pain meds for 21 hours before reaching 10cm. Baby shows up breech and she pushes her out. No talk of emerg c/sec.

There are a few things about the episode I would have changed, but otherwise I'm always glad to watch it and don't really cringe at all! Biggrin

lol, not that that has anything to do with me or my unborn babe. hehehe.

Doesn't she end up sharing a room with Janice...or was that when Phoebe had the triplets?

Another thing that always cracks me up about labor on tv/movies is how it always strikes super hard and fast. Like the mom will just be doing her regular daily routine and all of a sudden.....BAM, she's like doubled over wailing in pain and rushing off to the hospital.

I have only seen that episode once, but that is so nice that it's such a great birth! I was always a big FRIENDS fan. Smile

I just had to explain to my DH as well about only 1 in 4 labors starting with water breaking, and how the whole one minute you're ok the next minute you're in the throes of it is really only how it happens on tv/in the movies.

Actually only about 10% of births start with SROM, it is so funny how much time women spend worrying about their water breaking in public when statistically the odds of it even breaking before labor are pretty low. Everyone I know who had it happen had it happen in the night or at a time when they were really relaxed.

Jordan I have never seen that episode ~ Did you see the recent "The Office" birth? I thought that that one wasn't all that bad (considering how they frequently go :)). I will have to watch the Friends one.

J~ Do you think that this labor will start with SROM again? What do you picture this labor being like?

(And, do you put something on your bed? Like a waterproof sheet? My MW recommends one and I didn't do it either time previously but think that I will this time in case I end up birthing on the bed)

I did see The Office birth! Actually we chatted about it on our bb while it was on, eh Mara? lol...it really wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it! The cringe factor was low. Lol

I'm not sure how this one will start. It's funny, cause even though V's labour started with SROM and within a half hour it really was at its peak as far as intensity, I don't think it will happen that way this time. I sure hope not, anyway! Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing birth and I wouldn't change a thing, but I'd like a little more warning before being chucked in front of the labour freight train. lol.

I was sleeping on a towel at the time under my breasts, cause I was leaking colostrum, so when my water broke, I shoved that between my legs. It worked just fine til I was able to get up and stand in the tub. I'll probably just do that this time too. Or I might lay a towel down under my rump to start. Nothing waterproof though, the noise would keep me awake.

Since that is how L's labor started I totally pictured the same thing happening the second time around, but then it didn't break till 8 cm and hours into labor. Crazy how different the experience of laboring with intact vs. ruptured membranes was.

Yeah that is a good episode for birth. Funny about the TV birth model since that is actually what I had with my first. water breaking and zero to sixty. DH just expects it like that again. It sounds like you were similar. It was a first birth, how close are your mws if this one is faster?

They are about 30-45min away. We all are instructed to call whenever I think it might be. lol, I asked if they are sure they want to make the trek out 12 times before the real deal and they are cool with that. hehehe.

75 hours until I'm cleared for a homebirth. :boogie:

Yeah for almost being at hb status. I know I always breath easier after that point. And I hear you on not wanting another labor where it starts so suddenly. I really do not want that either.

Welcome to your lodge Jordan!!! I tried to respond the other day, but my laptop shutdown. It needs to be replaced, but that's another story.

Speaking of TV birth.... the channel TLC is having a home water birth soon. I don't ever watch the show "baby story", but I'm recording this one. It airs on Wed. the 27th I believe.

Spent a day with DH's family yesterday. Contracted every 10 minutes all day. Annoying, but I knew it wasn't time. They petered off over night.

Here's a belly pic.
