*~*~*~Melissa's (Potter75) Birth Lodge~*~*~*

Sorry this is so late! Vanessa usually watches the EDD list for when it's time to start lodges. Welcome to your lodge! I hope we at least get an intro before your baby comes!

Welcome to your lodge! It will be exciting to see if your intuition about the sex wins over other's lol. I was right with my other two even when others said they thought differently.

Welcome to your lodge! Your plans sound wonderful and your birth will be inspiring--thank you for sharing as much as you feel comfortable!

It will be interesting to see if your intuition wins. We did find out, but I was right that it was a girl while 99% of our family and friends were completely INSISTENT that it was a boy. DH asked the tech before he checked how right mother's intuition was in his experience, and he said "Absolutely, most of the time. And small children. They just know." I think it's so fascinating!

Glad you're feeling good!

I wish there were better BC options out there too...what a dilemma! We went over the options at our prenatal group recently and...they're not great. Looks like you might be stuck with condoms. Or you could try the diaphragm, although they sound pretty inconvenient and messy to me.

Welcome to your lodge!

Sounds like you had a great weekend and are really enjoying your lasts weeks/days of this pregnancy! Its funny how sometimes we just know what our baby will be or when they will arrive like you did your last time. With my DS I was certain he was a boy and that he would arrive on a certain date. Sure enough he did.

PP BC is hard. We've had similar issues and really never came to a perfect solution.

Welcome to your lodge! Hope the remaining time of your pregnancy is easy on you. I am so jealous of the weekly massage!

I think intuition is really accurate, if women trust themselves about what they are feeling. I was pretty accurate about when my son was born. I'm bad with gender, though, because I get confused about what is intuition and what I *want*.

Just caught up on your lodge. Sounds like a very relaxing weekend! Good to get a little time together without kids before it's all kids all the time for a while! I know the BC can be hard...I have tried various things like the mini pill, IUD, and just BF'ing (that didn't work). I don't know if you can use a Nuva Ring while BF'ing but it's not bad for when you are done. And maybe you can use it while BF'ing.

I just looked it up. Nuvaring is not recommended for BFing. We've only ever done condoms while BFing.

Hooray for napping! I agree about enjoying the end stage of pregnancy and not wanting to bring a newborn into the mix! I'm missing my naps right about now! DS1 is napping but baby is not sure if he will follow suit or not!

I don't understand the wanting the baby out ASAP mentality either. I enjoy pregnancy right up to the end as well. Glad you're getting some naps.

Getting a nap in sounds wonderful. I love enjoying things like that when you can because you know that in the near future it may not be possible. Makes it even more enjoyable I think.

I love to nap but I hate the feeling afterward so I can understand not being inclined to take a nap. It's good your getting in some rest though!

I always wonder about water breaking too - it broke for my first (in a public place lol) and not till 8cm with my second either lol. It will be interesting to see if your intuition is correct about this one!

That's great! Glad you're feeling positive and your body is moving right along, doing what it should...

I love napping but hate the feeling afterward too, and I've found that doing HB relaxations is a great way to get the benefits of deep rest without so much of the groggy factor. I'm glad you're able to enjoy the downtime!

Yay, you're gearing up! And kudos to you for your patience at the end- last time I was a "get the baby out" kind of pregnant lady (not out of pregnancy misery, just out of eagerness to be out of the "is this labor or not" phase)... but this time I'm preparing mayself to be in it for the longrun and just enjoy the ride.
There was an article on CNN the other day about birth control pills for DADDIES so the males can be "on the pill". It's still a few years off but wouldn't that be wonderful for situations like these? Not sure if I'd trust DH to remember it every day though:)

I hear you on this! Sometimes i feel like my body is not my own.

My DD weaned a few months ago a bit before she turned 2 ~ but suddenly out of nowhere my nipples are killing me again ~ anyone else get this at the end of pregnancy? I don't remember this from before. It stinks.

I don't have it now, at the end, but I had to encourage DS to wean when I was about 3 months pg because my nipples became very sore at that point. I felt badly, because I think he would have kept on going - he was 19 months. Overall, though, I do have more sensitivity now at the end, but not necessarily sore.

I am definitely a "get baby out" person. I do NOT enjoy most of pregnancy. The beginning and end are really awful for me. I couldn't nap if I wanted to and I can't sleep at all with out some kind of medication toward the end. I'm working until I go to the hospital so there really isn't anything to "enjoy" anyway.

I do know that I like not being woken up every hour to nurse, but it's a trade off for getting my body back and being able to sleep on my tummy and without a sleep aid.

Being the Nana here...the talk about not enough BC options is quite funny. It has been 50 years since the availability of the pill...and life before it was a chancy business! My aunt's husband worked on railroad building in North Africa. Every time he returned on leave, she had another daughter. There were 5. She told me I didn't know how lucky I was! So do imagine life with no options!
On the other hand, the early pills were risky.
My good friend from high school died shortly before her wedding from a blood clot from the pill.

Well, I am officially more pregnant than I have ever been Smile My other two came yesterday, in terms of gestational age.

I feel great. Been walking 3 miles/day and just relaxing with friends and family. Had a good yoga class last night and am just settling in as my due date approaches. My son's preschool ends this week (thursday) and his year end picnic is that night, I would love to attend that and have a baby shortly thereafter. Wouldn't life be grand if we could just pick our labor date? Had a good 4 hours of consistent contractions on Sunday that tapered off at nighttime ~ little tease. It was good to get me thinking more about the birth and making sure that we had all of our home birth supplies/childcare plans in place.

The onesies are out, the diapers are washed and ready (after CD'ing two for well over a year I am so looking forward to only diapering one baby now that both of my others are diaper free!), the slings are ready.....the kids are really excited to meet their new sib, I think that DH is getting antsy to have this baby ~ I'm so excited to experience this home birth with him by my side.
