Biggrin Thanks.

I have a son, Jonathan, who was born in April of 1993. His Dad and I married in July of 1992 and later divorced.

My DH and I met in 1996 while I was going through a divorce from my first husband. We dated off and on for several years. Our first daughter, Christiana, was born in January 1999. Ernest and I was married in August 2000. Our second daughter, Ariana, was born in January 2003. Our third daughter, Helaina, was born in April 2007.

We said that we were done having babies after Helaina, but in December 2007, I became pregnant while I was on the pill. I was shocked, but I became excited and wanted another one. I found out in January 2008, that I lost that baby. I had a D&C at 9 weeks. I took the loss pretty hard and was determined to have another baby.

I was so excited when I found out on April 20th, that I was pregnant!

Birth story #1

Jonathan was born on his EDD, April 26, 1993. I had a great pregnancy with him. I had some morning sickness in the beginning and heartburn from the fifth month on. I did take eating for two with him to heart. I gained 68 lbs.

I lost my mucous plug around 11am on the morning of April 25. My sisters and I decided on walking around 5 pm to see if that would start anything. My water broke around 6pm while we were out walking. Contractions started around 10pm and I went to the hospital after midnight. I labored all day and he was born at 3:59 pm on April 26th after 2 1/2 hours of pushing. I did not have any pain meds with his birth. I do remember them giving me some Benadryl at some point to calm me down.

He was 8 lbs, 13 ozs. I breastfed him for 4 1/2 months.

Birth story #2:

Christiana was born on her EDD, January 18, 1999. I woke up that morning to some minor contractions and I went to the hospital around 10 am. I was admitted and labored for the rest of the afternoon. I did not have any pain medications. She was born at 7:53 pm after 2 hours of pushing. She weighed 8 lbs 15 ozs.

I had a good pregnancy with her, no morning sickness, just the usual heartburn towards the end. I did have some spotting at 11 wks with her, but everything turned out ok. I did better with the weight gain and only gained 45 lbs with her. I breastfed her for the first 6 weeks until I had to go back to work.

Birth story #3:

Ariana was born on January 24, 2003, during my 38th week. I had a good pregnancy with her. No morning sickness just heartburn. I did have a scare around 17 weeks when I bled for 7 days from a small placental tear.

I was sore and tired of being pregnant on Jan. 23rd, so I decided to take some castor oil. I took it in the evening and several hours later it sent me to the restroom a few times. I went to bed around 10 pm and I woke up around 2 am with contractions. I decided to let DH sleep for awhile. Around 5 am, the contractions were getting stronger. I woke up DH and told him that I was in labor. Biggrin

DH thought that we had plenty of time so he moved slowly. We dropped the kids off at my sister's around 6 am. The contractions were strong at that time and I barely could stand them. We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 am and I was checked. I was already at 7 cms. Biggrin Ariana was born at 7:29 am after 20 minutes of pushing weighing 7 lbs 12 ozs.

Birth story #4:

Helaina was born at 2:04 pm on April 11, 2007, at 37 wks 1 day. She was 9 lbs 4 ozs. 20 1/2 inches long, Head, 14 1/2 inch, Chest, 14 1/4 inches.

I went to my Doc's appt at 10:15 am on Tuesday, April 10th for my 37th week checkup. BP was a little elevated and I still had notable edema. Weight gain was up only 1 lb.

Fundal Height:
32 wks - 34 cm
34 wks - 37 cm
35 wks - 38 cm (u/s showed baby weighing 7 lbs 6 ozs)
36 wks - 40 cm
37 wks - 42 cm

I was now measuring 6 wks ahead in fundal height. Doc was getting concerned about baby's weight. My first baby weighed 8 lbs 13 ozs and my second baby weighed 8 lbs 15 ozs, both were born on their EDD's. My third baby, born at 38 wks, weighed 7 lbs 12 ozs. So we knew that I make big babies

We discussed the pros and cons of inducing at 37 wks gestation and the concern about mature lungs. I had been having pelvic pain and every step was hurting now for several weeks. He checked my cervix and I was 1 cm, 50% effaced, and high.

We decided to induce that day. He had me check in the hospital at 5 pm so that he could meet me at 5:30 pm and put Cytotec near my cervix. Well he forgot he had a meeting at 5:30 pm and then he went out to dinner with his wife and kids. The OB nurses paged him around 7pm since he had not shown up yet

He showed up to the hospital at 7:45 pm and checked me and I was now at 2 cms. He inserted the Cytotec and joked and said that maybe we'd have a baby by midnight or around 2 or 3 am.

Contractions started about 8:30 pm and were coming at 3 mins. apart. The nurse checked me at 10 pm and said no change in cervix. She checked me at midnight and said that I was still 2 cms and about 75% effaced. She told me that she'd give me a Benadryl to help me sleep and would start me on pitocin by 6 am. I continued to have contractions all night and I got about 1 1/2 hours of sleep.

The Doc came in about 8 am and broke my water and checked and I was completely effaced and 3 cms and said maybe baby between 10 am and Noon. I was checked at Noon and I was 4 cms and they could feel the baby's head. The nurses said that once I hit 5 cms they expected me to go fast.

Finally around 1:30 pm, I started feeling lots of pressure and contractions every minute or so. They called the Doc back and they started letting me push about 1:50 pm. DH said that he heard the Doc whispering to the nurses. The Doc said that the baby head was stuck against the anterior lip of the cervix. They had me pushing with all I could. Finally her head cleared the cervix and she was born at 2:04 pm. I did not have any tears, just a few skid marks. The only pain meds I have was one shot of Stadol to take the edge off.

My DH, Grandmother, and Mother was in the room with me. Grandma later told me that the Doc was down on his knees trying to pull the baby out when she was stuck. She was a little bluish when she came out and had apgars of 7 & 9.

We stayed in the hospital for the standard 24 hours, but they offered a little longer if I wanted due to being 37 wks gestation. The Doc told me that he was glad that we induced when we did since she was getting so big. I probably would have ended up with a c/s if I went to much longer.

I had my 36th week checkup on Tuesday. BP was good, lost 1 1/2 lbs, and I measured 40 cms. My total weight gain for this pregnancy now is 27 lbs. I am happy with that. I have exercised almost daily throughout this pregnancy. I still do a daily walk on the treadmill while my 20 month old is napping. Biggrin

This pregnancy has went well for me and it is my last. Five kiddos is enough and I am not getting any younger. Biggrin

You look great! I enjoyed all of your birth stories, and it sounds like your not far from this birth! What is the plan this time around, if you don't mind me asking? Your appointment sounds good and your girls are super cute!

I would like to give birth as naturally as possible. I am having another large baby and I am a little worried about letting the baby get to large. I had a growth ultrasound at almost 33 weeks and they guestimated his size to be 5 lbs 12 ozs then. I know that estimates can be off, but this is an experienced tech who had measurements close on for my last baby. I also know that the baby is large because I can feel how large he is. IYKWIM.

I might end up giving into induction around 38 weeks due to the size of the baby and also due to Christmas coming up soon.

I will not have an epidural, I never had one and I don't want one. Smile I wouldn't want to risk it.

Biggrin After doing some major nesting today, I had a small glob of mucous. I am hoping to go sometime in the next 2 weeks.

More mucous today and some contractions, none timeable yet. Yay!

Well, I got the bassinet and the carseat out of our storage shed today and washed them up and they are now ready. Luckily I hadn't gotten rid of the carseat yet since it is part of my travel system. As I posted before, we thought we were done after my 20 month old, but we were not.

I have my 37th week Doc's appointment tomorrow morning.

I had a big glob of mucous this morning which had some blood tinge! Yay, I am making progress.

37th week Doc appointment this morning. BP fine. Lost 2 lbs in a week. Biggrin Fundas now measuring 42 cms, another big baby. Smile

Doc checked me since I have been having some contractions and lost some of my plug. I am 2 cms and 50% effaced. I am hoping that labor is around the corner for me.

I have had itchy, dry skin for awhile now that bothers me more at night. Well, last night DH woke me and told me to go take another shower (which helps for awhile, I use aveno oatmeal wash). I laid there a few minutes thinking, I am not itching. Well, after awhile I noticed that I was having some light contractions. Yay! I have had a few today, but nothing remarkable.

So things are definitely beginning to happen. Time will tell. Hopefully before my next Dr's appointment on Tuesday.
