I had my 38 wk appt today. The baby is looking really good; yet he is still breech. My swelling is still really bad, I told him I am drinking alot of water and he told me to lay back on the water because too much water may be contributing to the swelling. My blood pressure was high again, but no protein in my urine.
He is concerned about the high blood pressure, so I have to go in on Wednesday 7/8 to check my BP. If my BP is still high then, he will schedule a c-sec for that same day or in less than a week. He finally agreed to try an external version before the c-sec; I am so happy about this.Crossing my fingers, so that the external version works.
Aurora, how's your salt intake? believe it or not, increasing your salt intake might help alleviate the swelling and the bp... have you been craving salty foods? or mostly eating sweets? try some pickles, sauerkraut, add salt to your salad, eggs, etc... It might help.
Yay for trying a version!! Step one, bring down that bp! step 2 turn that baby! (step 3, natural, easy, uncomplicated birth!)

Salt is an essential nutrient and some believe that both consuming too much of it and not getting enough of it it can cause swelling. We Americans tend to eat too much salt because it's in a lot of it in the processed food we eat--canned or shelf-stable foods, in particular. The best strategy is to avoid the pre-prepared convenience foods because the salt in them is kind of hidden, prepare food from fresh or fresh-frozen ingredients, and salt it to taste.
Drinking too much water really shouldn't cause swelling. Not drinking enough water will because it can signal your body to retain it or because you're not flushing out toxins that lead to swelling. Be sure you're drinking enough that you're not getting thirsty, but you don't need to force yourself to drink any certain amount a day.
