I am glad they are open to retesting. I would definitely try to get a negative before labor. I am in the process now of trying to get my self clear before I test. I am doing echinecea, vit C and probiotics orally and then I am starting to do the garlic inserted. Interestingly, there is actual studies showing the effectiveness of garlic that are documented by the CDC and a current study underway to verify the results. Here is the link: http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/gbsCohain.html
I was tested twice with DD since I went postdates. Also, results can change in 10 days (or even less) so it doesn't hurt to try!
Happy new year everyone!
Last night DH and I went to a movie (Benjamin Button, it was good!) and then ordered some chinese food.
Baby has been moving a lot the last couple days. BH contrax are definitely getting stronger and more frequent, but I'm pretty sure this guy is staying put for another week or two.
I love craigslist! We've been able to get most of our baby stuff that way, and all of it is pretty decent. I got a nice and practically brand new changing table for $50, and yesterday we went and picked up a pretty nice glider/rocker for $30! We'll probably be moving across the country in the next 2-3 years, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on nicer things that I will want to keep and have to lug across the country. We can easily resell all of the stuff we got for cheap on craigslist. I love it!
Happy New Year Maggie! I'm glad to hear all is well, sounds like a fun day. I wish our Craigslist was that good, not much get's listed and it's not ususally very nice stuff. Hope you have a nice weekend!
Awesome about craigslist! We were hoping to find a new dresser there, but no luck so far. With this being my 4th, we don't need much else, LOL.
About baby's positioning, you were asking about earlier: Xander kept spinning around all the way up until the very end. He was very commonly LOA, but it certainly wasn't uncommon for me to feel around and not be able to find his back at all, just limbs. He was still changing position every couple days throughout the last few weeks. When labor started, I can't remember if he was LOA or ROA, but I know that when the midwife got to my house (after 13 hours of early labor so far), he was anterior until she checked me, and while she was checking I had a contraction so she waited a minute and started over, and he'd spun to posterior. He stayed that way for a few hours, as I was walking around trying to get things to get going (I tend to have long early labors, we were ready to kick it into high gear!) I finally decided that I did NOT want to progress any further, or get him any further engaged, until he spun his little self around again. I got on all fours for a while, supported by my birth ball. It was probably an hour or so later when she checked and he'd finally spun back to LOA. I stayed on all 4s or on my left side for another hour or so, until I hit full on active labor.
So, moral of the story - Spend some time on all 4s now, to encourage the baby to get into the right position. If he keeps spinning, don't freak out, but plan on spending some time on all 4s while in labor. I'd say even if he's ROA, spending some time on all 4s will help him consider switching sides. Either way, you know that any anterior position is better than posterior, so don't stress too much about it either way.
Thanks Kelly. I spent some time hanging on my birth ball last night and I'm trying not to spend too much time reclining or in a position that will encourage him to stay posterior. He's been in the position he is in for about a week, so he seems pretty comfy there, but hopefully he still has time to flip over.
Last night I started having regular (painless, BH) contrax around every 5 mins or so for a little while when DH and I were watching TV, but they stopped. Then around 3 a.m. I woke up and knew that I'd been having contrax and that's what woke me up. They were 3-5 mins apart for about an hour and a little painful, but not too bad. It was howling rain and wind and I was tired and was not interested in going to the birth center in the middle of the night in crazy weather, esp. for a false alarm, which I was guessing it probably was, so I decided to try and go back to sleep and see what was happening this a.m., which is nothing. I've had a few contrax, but nothing regular. But, seems like things are getting ready and it could be sooner rather than later! But who knows. He could be faking it again
That sounds promising even if it turns out that it isn't time just yet. I hope all this practice helps with an easy labor.
Still having a lot of contractions here and they are getting a bit stronger each day, sometimes regular but also will go hours without any. I'm hoping they are doing something so I'll have less work to do when I go into labor. I don't feel like I'm in labor, but I am a bit paranoid because of my sister's birth experience (by the time she knew for sure she was in active labor, she was already 8 cms and barely made it to the hospital). I would love it if my labor was similar and didn't get painful or intense until the end, but I also don't want to go along thinking I'm not in labor and then end up rushing/stressed out at the end and not getting my waterbirth, etc.
So...I have an appointment on Thurs, but I've been having semi-regular contrax for the past couple days, as you know. I'm wondering if I should call and see if I can be squeezed in just to check and see if I really need to be worrying about going into labor yet, or if I should just wait til Thurs, and go to the hospital if things pick up?
What do you all think? What would you do?
