I know you're so busy with your new little girl, but when you have a sec I'd love to hear what you thought about your hypbirth and how that worked for you. I know once they broke your water it got really intense really fast and it wasn't enough, but up until that point, how was it working? Do you feel like it helped?
Hope you are home and enjoying your new family now!
HypBirth worked really well before my water broke. I managed all of my contractions with it. After my water broke, it worked for about 30 minutes. I walked the halls and would stop and lean against the wall with each contraction. I was able to relax into the contractions pretty well. After that point, the rectal pressure was so intense and the contractions were so close together, that I couldn't do it anymore. At one point my doula was using all the key words to try and get me back into it (I used a feather bed visualization) and I started cussing, and saying that the "f-ing feather bed could go to he**". lol.
Ha ha! I'm afraid if it gets really intense for me, I'll be a cusser too. When I had my kidney stone, I swore like a sailor. Hopefully I don't offend anyone!
Glad to hear it worked well for you for most of it, even though your featherbed ended up in hell by the end
By the way, I've been wondering, what does "laboring down" mean? You said they had you "labor down" in your birth story, and I get the basic idea that they had you stop and not push and try to relax, but how did they do that? Did they give you something to knock you out or slow the contractions, or what? Just curious.
Congrats Joy! I'm so excited for you. She's beautiful.

The epidural allowed me to labor down. I wouldn't have been able to without it. Basically, it made it so I didn't have the urge to push anymore. And, since I wasn't in pain anymore, I wasn't all tense and preventing her from turning into the proper position. If the doctor had arrived 5 minutes later, she probably would have been born anyway though, because she was pretty much crowning when he got there...pushing or not.
Congratulations!! She's gorgeous!
