I LOVE your carriers! I want pretty ones like that! You should sell them.
We are not buying a stroller either - I can't wait to wear this baby! Our hospital doesn't even check what kind of car seat you have (or even if you have one, since it's legal to take a taxin in NYC with no seat) so we are getting a convertible as well - we will rarely use it so I want it to last as long as possible (I think ours goes up to 80 or 85lbs!).
I have never been to Tom's - it's weird because we have talked about it tons of times (we've lived here for 10 years). Maybe we will go before baby gets here.
Hope you have a good meeting and get more things crossed off your list!
I know, the not being able to do so much myself is totally the hardest part!
We are co-sleeping but with a side-carred crib as kind of a bed extension--I felt like it was the best option for our particular family. We really fill up our bed as it is, and DH is too heavy of a sleeper and I am too fidgety of a sleeper to be entirely comfortable with just having her in the queen sized bed with no change at all to our setup--this will still have her right there in bed with us but give us a little more room to work with, and safely. And then, when she's ready for her own space, we can just move the crib and not have to buy new furniture for a long time (this actually converts all the way up to a full size bed frame, although of course at that point you need a new mattress and such.) I'm a big fan of things made to grow/be reused for a long time
ETA: Erica! Go to Tom's! And get the lemon ricotta pancakes, trust me. There is always a huge line on the weekends, but they give you fruit and cookies and coffee while you wait so it doesn't matter at all.
Beautiful carriers! Add me to the list of people who hardly ever used a stroller (pretty much only when I needed to go clothes shopping and needed a place for him to sit when I tried things on) during the first year. I hope this second babe loves snuggling as much as Christopher did!
We also went the sidecar route with Christopher (and will with this one). It worked great to have him right there, but not have to worry at all about him being in our space. Once he was big, I didn't worry about it anymore, but when he was 5 1/2 lb, I worried for sure.
cross posted from my BB:
My appointment/prenatal group last night went great. I think baby's definitely dropped at least some...my mw didn't tell me exactly what I was measuring but she said "Huh, that can't be right" (how reassuring! ) and measured again and I mentioned that my chiro had said first thing when I saw her on Monday "You dropped!" and my mw said "Yeah, you must have!" so...I don't know that she's fully engaged (I'm not waddling or anything), but I think she's definitely at least somewhat lower. And still confirmed head down, yay! I wish I'd been better about belly pics lately to compare, but DH agrees that my belly looks more teardrop shaped than high/round like it was. And I am definitely getting a lot more cramping/BH and pressure down low (including the having to pee constantly--ugh!) Everything else was looking good too--heartbeat, weight (+2 in two weeks, not bad for all the fried chicken I've been eating between my shower and the leftovers!) During my checkup, she did some of her crazy foot stretching that made my belly go so wonky that even the mw and nurse went "WOAH! What is that?" Hahaha, she does that to me all the time! I think she's just stretching out her little legs as far as she can and holding them as long as possible.
OH! And I almost forgot to mention: Found out I'm GBS negative!!! WOOO!!!!
For the class part we talked about baby care (swaddling, BFing, diaper changing, etc.) which was really helpful and interesting (see thread I posted about baby soothing!)
Then when we got home, we finished setting up the crib! It looks sooo cute (although it makes me have to climb out the end of the bed--it won't be such a problem when I'm not pregnant, but for now, ugh!) I took pics this morning but didn't have a chance to upload them yet. We still need to get a piece of foam to raise the mattress a bit to be level with ours, but otherwise: MAJOR mission accomplished! Now it's down to the car seat and packing my bag...
Yay for a great appointment and getting the crib set up! I would never have had the patience to wait for my DH to help me...I put everything together myself and did the entire nursery alone, I even moved the dresser (full of clothes!) and changing table around last week! DH works a very physically demanding job and by the time he gets homehe just wants to lay around and eat and watch tv. It drives me nuts since I cant watch tv without feeling guilty like I should be doing something...so I just opted not to wait for him to do things, LOL! We need some pics of your sidecar setup. I really want to sidecar our crib...DH doesnt think its "necessary" though...so for now we have the basinette set up in our room. I guess well reevaluate once hes here and I can see what kind of a sleeper he is. If hes really needy/hungry at night, well probably end up sidecarring because we sleep in a full size bed and I am not going to get up to get him out of the bassinette all night every night.
Yay for dropping! Its always fun when they move around at appointments. Wesley likes to kick the doppler (and he used to kick it and run when he had room in there). A few weeks ago I had a contraction while I was getting measured and the MW got all worried, but then she did it again and it was 5 cm more - it was kind of funny actually!

I will try to post the pics I took tonight. Like I said, we still need a piece of foam to lift the crib mattress about three inches, but otherwise it's done. I love it so much that I actually squealed when I walked into the bedroom at lunch today The inconvenience factor is worth it.
In other news, feeling nauseous today! Felt better immediately after eating lunch, but now it's coming back. Hmm.
Sounds like things are moving along well with the dropping and everything.
Glad you love the crib!!
