No!!! I keep saying I have no idea where the last two months went. I was just 28 weeks not too long ago! My body definitely feels 36 weeks pregnant though.Quote:

Ok, intro time! My name is Amy, I'm 23 and my DH is Matt who is 27. We met online back in 2000 and became good friends then in 2002 we decided to meet in person and see if what was developing online could be real. I flew over to Canada from my home in Australia (at 18!) and stayed for 2 and a half weeks, and by the time I left we both knew we'd be getting married somewhere down the line. Matt came to visit me and my family in April 2003 and stayed for a few months, then in August we became engaged. He was back in the country in November and we were married in January 2004 in my hometown.

We moved back to Matt's hometown in Canada in March 2004. We bought a home in May 2004, moved in July and we've been here ever since. I'm still in the Immigration process to become a Permanent Resident so I can't legally work or study yet, but it's progressing (sloooowly).
We have two pets, a cat and a dog and a whole bunch of fish.
This is Roxy. She's a rottweiler/sheperd cross and about a 1 1/2 years old.

This is Oreo. He's 4 years old and we adopted him from the humane society. His best feature is that he's polydactyl (has extra toes on his paws)... very cute!

Now on to the baby stuff. When I was 17 I was told by a doctor that I'd most likely never be able to get pregnant on my own and that when I did get married and was ready to have kids I'd have to seek fertility help. He said I probably had PCOS but that he didn't want to go to the trouble of diagnosing it at that point since I was only 17. He made the 'probably' diagnoses based on my hormone levels, I think testosterone was way too high.
When DH and I got together I was on birth control for awhile, the pill then the patch, then I stopped because I developed numbness in my right arm that I thought could be a blood clot (one of the risks associated with the patch). We went to condoms then after awhile nothing (!!!). I only had 1, 2 or 3 periods a year and after having had a few pregnancy scares (all false) I was convinced it wouldn't happen naturally. Not for lack of trying or in our case more not NOT trying. :)
Fastforward to this year... I had a normal period in April, my last one before that being back in November... then in March I had 1 day of spotting. 14 days after that I apparently got pregnant! I had very severe morning sickness for about a month, the whole time I was convinced I just had some brutal stomach flu because I really believed I could not get pregnant. Eventually we decided I better get a test, just in case. DH already knew I was pregnant, I didn't think it was possible. Of course the test was a bit fat undeniable positive. That was May 26th or something like that, when I was 10 weeks pregnant.

I was finally able to find a doctor and got in for an early u/s on June 25th because they were basing the pregnancy off my last period in April. They thought I was 19 weeks at that point, and had done the maternal serum test and the results were abnormal because the dates were off. The u/s showed a healthy baby at 14 weeks. Very shocking for me. I knew I was pregnant but actually seeing it on a monitor... still feeling 'I can never get pregnant'... really shocking.

At that point I was already trying to find a midwife but due to my having two dates (due date of November 15 or December 22nd) it was a bit difficult for them to decide if they could take me. Once I knew my proper EDD I contacted them and updated my information, and not long after that I got the call that let me know I had a midwife! I feel really fortunate in that because there was only one group of midwifes in the city still accepting new patients, I was lucky to be accepted.
One of the big factors in my wanting a midwife and a homebirth is the money aspect. We're only on one income and because I'm still an Immigrant it would cost $3000+ for me to have a hospital birth. If I have to, I will, but even if I could have a 'free' birth in a hospital I'd still be choosing home. I have had a great pregnancy other than having morning sickness into the second trimester, but I am considered a low-risk pregnancy and I've made it to 36 weeks with my home birth still possible. So I am very grateful.

I guess the only other thing I want to add at this point is our families reactions. First person I told was my sister Emily on her birth day (called her in Australia on the phone), about a week after I took the home pregnancy test. She was already planning on visiting at Christmas, so I brought up the topic to check if she still wanted to come over, and told her we'd be having a baby then too! It made a good birthday present for her, she screamed into the phone really loud! ;) Em is coming over to stay and live with us for 6 months on a working holiday, she arrives in another 2 weeks.
A couple of weeks after that I called my Mum and told her. 'Oh no' was her response, but she's gradually come around and seems to have accepted that now. She's coming over with her boyfriend and arrives in 3 weeks.
I called my Dad at the same time and he was excited, which I was glad about. He said he figured it would happen sooner or later!
We told my mother-in-law in person and she said 'why weren't you more careful'. :rolleyes: She doesn't know all the infertility history and how amazing I think it is that we got pregnant, so I just try to leave that remark in the past. I think she'll be thrilled to be a grandmother, she just worries about our financial situation.
My father-in-law was ecstatic.
