Sounds like a great appointment except for the GBS... that sucks!! You have a very agreeable little one in there though, and being so cooperative so far I hope you got a good nap in. You were a busy lady today!

Hey, Em. Have you read anything about Hibiclens and GBS? From what I've read it seems to be as effective as the antbx.
Here is a link-- but worth researching IMO....GL!
Hope you are well! I bet with baby in good position that this baby will fall out (my 4th did ) Minimal risk of infection with that speed of labor and time in the canal.....

Thank you for the recommendation, Audra! I spent a few hours last night reading about hibiclens and it sounds perfect. Local treatment instead of systemic, not going to contribute to thrush, and can make the way safer in the event of a fast labour. I don't like that it kills all good and bad bacteria, but beggars can't be choosers. I wonder if I can get this stuff in Canada?
Also, the GBS+ means that I won't be having any stretch and sweeps before labour. I don't want to push the bacteria up.
Still planning on doing any other natural induction techniques, or are you just going to let it be?
A friend of mine just used the Hibiclens when she delivered at a birth center in Michigan. She self-administered it around midnight, and headed to the birth center around 3am. Seems to have worked just fine for her...her little dear is in perfect health.
Sounds like things are going well otherwise... yay!

Sucks about being GBS +, but perhaps babes good positioning will make it a moot point anyway. If you're far along when the midwife arrives, I'm sure she won't bother with the IV and just keep a close eye on babe afterward?

Hopefully the natural remedies will work for you. I hate the idea of getting abx for no reason.

I'm glad I'm getting another baby. And my reasons for having a natural homebirth run deeper than just being anxious. But, geez, I really don't want to have to give birth again. Birth has never been painless for me and I wish I knew what to expect.
Anyone else get anxious? Every day that goes by I'm excited to meet my new baby, but I'm nervous that it's one day closer to birthing. I know I'll do fine with it...this'll be my 4th natural birth and I couldn't have a better support system. I just don't wanna.
I remember being anxious like that at the end of my last pregnancy. So excited to be meeting my son soon but thinking that he really did have to come out some way and there was no easy way around that. Not knowing what to expect gets me too.
