I'm still feeling good. I still don't feel huge and my pregnancy yoga is helpful with some of those little aches and pains--so is our massage cushion (the kind that straps on the back of a chair). I get heartburn, but it doesn't really bother me too much. I get frequent BH contractions, expecially when I'm up and walking around, I've noticed. I sometimes get sharp sort of stabby feeling in my lower belly and sometimes closer to my cervix. I wore my wedding ring on a chain around my neck today because I was worried that my fingers will swell too much and it won't come off. It seems like the swelling kinda comes and goes, though.
My DH is very excited and nervous. Losing my mucus plug was kind of a reality check for both of us, like we finally had to realize that the birth is actually going to happen, KWIM? It still doesn't seem real to us that we're actually going to be bringing home a baby, but we're both really excited to meet her. DH sometimes talks to her ("when are you coming out?") and feels her with his hands ("what is that?") and kisses my belly. It's very cute. All the cute little clothes I got at my shower are exciting for me. I look at them and think about how cute my little baby will be in them. I'm excited to see what she looks like and to hold her in my arms.
I am so excited for you! I can't believe you only have 7 days to 40 weeks.
I love how you and DH are so sweet and together in this. You will both make GREAT parents! WooHoo on progress. I also think that wearing your wedding rings on a necklace is an awesome idea. I stop wearing mine completely when I am preggo because of my fear of swelling.
This morning when I woke up I kinda felt like some liquid was trickling out of me. I wondered if it was amniotic fluid. I knew I had a midwife appointment today, so I wasn't too worried about it. I was also having some contractions--they were about 10-15 minutes apart for a while, but then I didn't feel any for a while, and then I feel back asleep. I went to my appointment and the MW did some tests to determine if amniotic fluid was present and they came back negative, but she said that the tests could just not be picking it up, and if I still feel like I'm leaking later, I should call the MW on call and probably go to the hospital to have them check it. She checked my cervix and said that I'm now 1.5 cm dialated and 80% effaced with the baby at -2 station, which is a big change from last week. I know it doesn't really mean anything, but it is nice to know I'm making progress.
I got some stuff done yesterday--most importantly, we bought a carseat. Maybe my body was waiting for me to do that before it would start labor...I don't know, I'll keep you guys posted.
Have you taken time off for maternity leave yet or are u still working?
I agree it is nice knowing that your body is at least doing something lol What kind of carseat did you get? There are soo many cute ones out there.
At least you can feel like you are making some progress, hey it might mean something :)
Well, we just got back from our first trip to Labor and Delivery. I could have sworn my membranes had actually ruptured this time, but the test with the litmus paper said it still wasn't amniotic fluid. I was also having strong contractions, but not very close together. Some of them didn't register on the monitor, but the nurse told me that happens a lot. I was dialated to 2 cm now and still about 80% effaced--so that's some progress. My blood pressure readings were a little high, but I think it was all the nerves and excitment. They called the MW on call, and she said just to give me a sheet with warning signs of pre-e (none of which I have) and send me home until my labor is more advanced. The nurse used that thing that startles the baby to get a few more good accelerations on the strip, and then sent me home.
We stopped at the grocery store on our way home. We got some electrolyte drinks, candy, and a few other random things. I got a lot of contrax while we were walking and I did okay with them, but I'm not gonna lie--they hurt. I did not like sitting in the car while having them, especially because I really felt them in my cervix. I'm sitting on my birth ball now, and that feels good. I can deal with it though, because there is always an end. I'm using an online contraction log generator now, which makes timing them a lot easier. I've only logged 3 of them, but they were 7-8 min apart and lasting around 50 sec each. I should probably try to get some sleep while I'm still in early labor, but we'll see if I can.
To answer questions, I'm was still working, I went to work yesterday afternoon. I work afternoons, from 3:00 to about 6:00 (sometimes earlier sometimes later). I think I'm going to need to call and tell them I'm not coming in tomorrow. I told them I'd keep working until my due date if I didn't have the baby before then, and they said just to call and say I'm in labor and not coming if that happened. I am not going back to work after the baby is born, with DH graduating in April, we're so uncertain about where we'll be living soon after my maternity leave would have been over, so I decided just go say I was done. I'm not eligible for paid leave anyway, I would have had to use my paid time off, which will just cash out when I quit, so it works out.
We got the Evenflo Aura Select travel system. I orginally didn't think I was going to get a travel system, but I did like the idea of being able to take the baby straight from the car to the stroller without getting her out (and waking her up if she's asleep). We liked the Aura Select the best of all the ones they had in the store at Target.
Hi Brittany, I just read all your lodge and wanted to tell you that I'm sooo excited for you!!! I've loved reading it all and getting to know you a little better! I really admire you for the way you've handled everything and the choices you've made. I CAN'T WAIT to hear about your birth and your new baby!!!! I hope and pray that everything goes great for you! And you have a beautiful, healthy baby girl in just a little while!!!!!!

I don't have time to write a lot, but Tehani was born at 9:54 pm on Saturday, February 2. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 19 inches long. I ended up getting an epidural because I had been having contractions for so long, was exhausted and not progressing (I was only about 3 cm when I got it), my membranes were ruptured, and I had been on pitocin unmedicated for 2 or 3 hours of hard, fast contractions and because I wasn't progressing they were upping the dose. I'll write the whole birth story later.
