Oh Brittany she's beautiful. I'm so glad your doing well![]()
She's sooo cute! Congratulations
Lea-Mama to Tegan, born 17/08/08 with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus
Tehani had her 2 week check up at the pediatrician today. She has grown an inch and a half (now 20 1/2 inches) and gained not only the 7 oz she lost in the hospital, but another whole pound on top of that! She now weighs 8 lbs 3 oz! She is nice and healthy!
We had a bit of a rough night last night. Tehani was cluster feeding in the middle of the night, which is lots of fun. DH ended up giving her a little bit of formula, which I hated, but it seemed to help her get full so she could sleep. She didn't seem to like drinking from a bottle much. She's been seeming more like she's getting enough breastmilk today, and she's sleeping now.
I drank a lot of water last night to make sure I was hydrated enough for my supply to increase, then I noticed some stinging when I urinated and felt like I constantly needed to go even though there would only be a little bit. I think I might have a UTI. I had finally gotten the baby to sleep and then I could't sleep because of the constant urge to urinate. It was very frustraiting. DH bought me some 100% cranberry juice and I've been drinking it to see if it helps. Dang, it is bitter stuff!

She is so adorable. I hope the cranberry juice helps, UTI's are miserable.
Cindy
on her gaining her weight back + a pound!!! That is awesome!
I really hope you don't have to deal with a UTI! Those are horrible. Drink lots of Cjuice and WATER!!! HUGS!
Sounds like the nursing is working out. It is frustrating if you need to supplement so it is good to hear she seems more satisfied after you drank more water.
We haven't had any more supply issues, so things are looking good there. I really want to exclusively breastfeed. I have to drink a ton of water. I think the UTI, if that's what it is, is getting better, so that's good.
I'm at my IL's house for the weekend, and getting a lot of unsolicited advice on baby care. I love my MIL and my SILs, but I am Tehani's mother, not them, KWIM? The same SIL who was negative about my plans to have a natural birth because she didn't have a natural bith has told me twice that my baby was hungry when she wasn't, she was tired. The second time, I told her that I thought she was tired, and she said "No, she's hungry!" Just because Tehani opened her mouth when she rubbed her cheek...um...that's kind of a reflex. It had been less than 2 hours since she ate. I took the baby, swadled her, and held and rocked her and she went to sleep for about 3 hours before she woke up ready to eat.
MIL...well, I really appreciate her wanting to help, and she's fablous at bathing babies...but...she keeps drying her bum off after she gets her diaper changed, which I'm pretty sure is unnessessary. She puts her on her side to sleep and she told DH that I shouldn't nurse her in the side lying position because her head needs to be tilted up while she nurses so that the milk doesn't drain into her ear and cause an ear infection...?

Oh hun! I hate unsolicited advice as well. I find it still comes though... and I have to take what I can from it and just ignore the rest. You are right... you are the mom and you do know your daughter better than anyone else. I am so sorry you have to deal with that. That is one of the joys of parenting I can do without! I love advice when I ask for it, but only then.
It sounds like you are a GREAT mother and that is all that counts. I am also glad to hear your UTI or infection seems to be going away! Also, that your BF'ing is going well.![]()
