Homebirths aren't illegal, but Certified Professional Midwives (CPM's) are not regulated in North Carolina and they can be arrested for attending births. Parents are free to choose whatever birthing options they want without consequences, but midwives can go to jail. Not cool!

You look great - so happy!

I'm glad you have a midwife who will attend your birth even though there is the risk of going to jail. It's awful that it is even a possibility.

Thanks for the recipe! It sounds good - I imagine I can leave out the parmesan with no major issues (I am on a dairy free diet for now), I can't wait to try it!

Holy cow Anne! I can't believe it's almost time! I loved reading your intro. I already sort of knew most of it already, but it just reaffirmed for me how amazing and inspirational you are. I am so looking forward to following your lodge, and hearing all about the birth of your sweet baby girl.

Erica -- Yes, you should be okay leaving the parmesan off. It's strictly optional.

Connie-- Thank you! ...I will let you know if/when I write the curriculum. I've kind of made it up as I've gone along this time, but I think it would be great if I could put it into some kind of organized, accessible format.

Amber-- So glad you are following me ...it's not long before it's your time, too!

That is absolutly ridicilous that she can get arrested for that!!! I cant believe that. You are super lucky to have someone who is willing to do what she does.

I also wanted to say you are such a strong woman!

That is how it is in IL too.

Kendra- Thank you! Yes, I'm very lucky to have my midwife. She is an amazing lady.

Christy- Yeah, I know IL is like that, too. Isn't it maddening?!

    Default Music for Birth

I solidified my play list of music for labor today. I've had some good ideas about the songs I want but I didn't know about the order of them, etc. Here's what I came up with:

    1. I Surrender All - Cece Winans
    2. Completely - Ana Laura
    3. Speak to Me - Mary Mary
    4. Don't Worry - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    5. Jesus Loves Me - Whitney Houston
    6. Be Thou My Vision - Selah
    7. As the Deer - Genevieve Falleur
    8. Hi There, Holy Spirit - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    9. Surely the Presence of the Lord is in This Place - Gerry Thompson
    10. Order My Steps - GMWA Women
    11. To God be the Glory - Vickie Winans
    12. Great is Thy Faithfulness - CeCe Winans
    13. Acceptable - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    14. How Great Thou Art - Selah
    15. Arise in Me - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    16. Spirit of the Living God - Vickie Winans
    17. Have Thine Own Way Lord - Mahalia Jackson
    18. Leaning on the Everlasting Arms - Mahalia Jackson
    19. He's got the Whole World in His Hands - Mahalia Jackson
    20. His Eye is on the Sparrow - Mahalia Jackson
    21. For in my Life, He is Lord - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    22. God Will Take Care of You - Shirley Ceasar
    23. At Your Feet - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    24. Belssed Assurance - Shirley Ceasar
    25. The Lord's Prayer - Aretha Franklin
    26. Prayers from the House - Ben Hill UMC Mass Choir
    27. Do What the Spirit Say Do - Sweet Honey in the Rock
    28. Syahamba - ICE
    29. What a Mighty God We Serve - Sandy Oliver

As you can see, all the music is religious music. It's important to me to keep my mind on God and the best way I can think of to do that is to only fill it with things pertaining to God. I'm also planning to have my violin around so that I can play hymns through parts of labor if I feel like it. Singing is also an option I'm looking forward to, though I don't have much of a singing voice .
