My February Space
had one of the busiest days at work that I have had in a long time. Our intern was sick, so the other PT and I saw some of her patients in our open times. Some of those munchkins are rambunctious! And of course, the last 3 of the day are the most energetic and wild Funniest thing a kid has said to me about being pregnant happened today... I was showing a 5 year old how to do an exercise on all fours...she proceeded to try to climb on my back, at which point i was like "whoa, you can't climb on me, see I have a baby in my belly" (I got up and pointed to my very large belly)... She pointed at my shirt, lifted up my main shirt (I still had more layers to hide the actual belly...undershirt, full panel of the pants)...then she goes "how did you get a baby in your belly...by eating too much???" oh kids say the darndest things!
In other work news, after a long day of silly, rambunctious kiddos, I left work how I usually do...walking down the stairs (I take the elevator up since we are on the 5th floor but have continued to take the stairs down). Well tonight is the last time that will happen...SO much pain and pressure down low in my pelvis. Yay for a head down baby but OWEEE
What a positive appointment, compared to the past few "hey we think he's still breech" appointments. First of all, the MW I saw today...super sweet...she told me how great I look (which she might say to everyone, but I don't care...bonus points for her!) She was thrilled to see the u/s results that said "cephalic presentation" and said "so now what happens is when you go into labor, we get the Ocean room (my fave birthing room) ready for you, you come in, and we have a great birth" (or something like that). I will be 37 weeks (by LMP) on Friday, so I have the green light to birth at the center now! So since he is head down and we are at the 37 week mark, he can come whenever he is ready
she did the doppler then asked if she could jiggled my belly around...then she goes (with a smile) "this is the poor man's nonstress test" hehe. baby's heart rate accelerated whenever she jiggled him around...so a-ok in that department. She did my GBS swab, which we will have results for at my next appointment.
When she was palpating my belly, I told her that I thought he had been head down since at least the last 2 appointments and mentioned that I felt something head shaped and hard whenever I did breech tilts (bum elevated on pillows) so I stopped doing those b/c if it was a head I wanted it to stay down there...and I kept doing the other tricks (flashlight, knees the chest position on the floor, etc.) that wouldn't cause him to flip breech if he was head down. she was like "yeah, you used good judgment" Darn skippy...can you tell the other people who told me he was breech?!?! But she did say that she has been doing this for 30 years and it is hard to tell on me b/c of my abdominal tone...I almost laughed at her...I mean, I am not fluffy, but I am certainly not in shape
