Well... the whole 'home vs. hospital' debate has been decided for me. My midwife's mother died last night, so she's on her way back to England to deal with arrangements. Which means there aren't enough midwives to cover for a homebirth until her return. She's not back until I'm nearly 39 weeks, at which point I was planning to have a hospital birth ANYWAY, to try out the new facilities here (they open in a few days). My original plan was to birth at home until the new hospital opens, and once the new one opens to birth there, to try it out (sort of a preparation for future clients).

Anyway, looks like it's a hospital birth this time around. Guess that makes my decision for me! Now I just have to hope I have time to get there, and don't end up having a baby in the car!

I'm sorry that the plans fell through, but it sounds like you're good with the outome so that's great, and a new facility too, that will make it all much nicer. Our hospital is pretty dated and not pretty to look at, not that that matters I guess lol. You're a great Doula, you'll be researching first hand for your clients

Well that stinks, but I bet it feels good to have it all decided and squared away.

I'm sorry that the choice was made for you, instead of you making it yourself. But it sounds like you have a good second option. I hope all goes well! By the way- one of my best friends had her baby in the car on the way to the hospital, and she said it was actually very peaceful and no big deal! Lol!

Sorry your midwife is away for a while and that the decision has been made for you. But it sounds as though you have a great opportunity to check out the new facilities!

    How are you doing generally?

Thanks ladies! I'm doing ok. I've had a crazy couple days of contractions. I really thought on Wed that it might be it... but nope. Everything stopped and no progress. I personally think I'm going to go quite close to my EDD, but everyone around me thinks I'm going in the next week or so. I think I've got another couple weeks (maybe that's my mind not wanting to accept the whole 'three kids' thing) Ugh, this is the worst part for me! I wish I knew when she was coming so I could plan!!!

So, HOORAY! Just lost my mucous plug! I know that means absolutely nothing in terms of 'when', but it's the first real sign I've had that these irritating contractions/cramping are doing ANYTHING. So, I'm feeling pretty encouraged.

With DD I didn't lose my plug until a couple hours before she was born, but with DS it was a week before... so, I know it's not predictive of 'when' I'll go, but hey, a girl can dream, right?

Off I go to teach my third from last class - maybe walking and stairs will move this baby along!

Yay! That's awesome! Everytime I go to the washroom now I'm expecting to see mine. I hope she comes soon! Can't wait to hear her name!

I would be excited as well. Even a week isn't too bad!

I'm so glad the new hospital renovations will be done for you. That will be really nice. Do you have childcare figured out?

I would be excited to see some mucous plug too! Sounds like things are progressing a bit.
