That's a great birth story! The male nurse would have pissed me right off.

    Congrats again!

What a wonderful birth story, TFS! I would have not been neatly as nice with the nurses as you were.

Thank you for sharing the full story. I'm so proud of you for standing up to all those nurses. I'm sorry you had to do that at all though.

You have a great story, congratulations!

    Default 2 Weeks PP

I've been lurking on here and haven't signed in. I've been wanting to update... sorry!

So, little Charlie is doing great. He's more than gained his birth weight back. In fact, our little guy has gained 2 pounds from birth!! He was 6lb 12.6oz at birth. He's now 8lb 8oz!!! SERIOUSLY!?!? Little dude is a GREAT nurser!!

On the other hand, I've learned something about my milk supply. I have an overproductive milk supply. I know, sounds like a good problem to have, right? Well... it's great that I don't struggle with low milk supply (I truly am thankful) but on the other hand, I am practically drowning my baby in milk!!! It comes flying out and sprays him in the face. I'm still engorged half the day. The milk goes into his system so fast and furious that it builds up in his asophogas and then comes spewing out projectile style!! At least once a day he's got projectile vomit going across me and, well, the room. It's lovely. He's very gassy. When he has gas bubbles it makes him fussy. Which stinks because he is SUUUUCH an easy-going baby. He doesn't cry much unless he has an air bubble or is *really* hungry. I hate seeing him in obvious pain AND knowing that it's from my milk. It's horrible. Just a bad feeling. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping that he'll grow into it more. We'll see. So that's why he''s gained an amazing amount of weight too!

We did newborn pics today. I'll post some once I get a chance. They turned out pretty well. There are a few really cute ones anyway. I was just anxious to get him in there and get them done since he is changing SO stinkin' much! I mean seriously, he's 2 lbs heavier already!! It's amazing how different he looks already!

My stitches are healing. I'm not as freaked out that I'm going to be completely mutilated down there. I think I can see it coming back together. My doctor said it was a small first degree tear but I'm pretty positive it's a second degree tear. It just goes back a lot further than a first degree would, I'm pretty sure anyway.

Oh, and I had another WIC appt this week. It was WAY better this time. The lady was so supportive of me BFing two kids. She never looked at me like I was crazy. She was sweet and supportive. It was a good experience. I hope all my reviews are with her.

My newbie isn't a big fan when my milk lets down. Have you tried taking him off, letting your milk spray (maybe into a milk storage bag?) and when it stops, then re-latch him? (you likely have, but just wondering if it makes a difference).

Can't wait to see those pictures!

wow, glad things are going well. I had a similar problem with my milk with DS. I'd literally squirt across the room, so I'd just 'siphon' off the top till it was a bit slower and easier to handle. I just squirt it into a towel if I didn't have a bottle near me. Its a thought. Hopefullly your flow will adjust soon.

Glad to hear things are going well!
My milk supply is like that, too, and my boys gained weight like that. DS went from 7lbs 8oz at birth to 9lbs 3oz at 2 weeks and DS2 went from 7lbs 8oz to 9lbs 8oz. The spit up and vomit from it is not fun, though. I always nursed with a burp cloth between me an baby and sometimes would just let the letdown soak the cloth then feed him. Sounds wasteful, but it helped some. Mine definitely grew into the milk supply. Do keep in mind if you ever give him BM in a bottle he might get upset if you use nipples with a slow flow. Those used to drive my boys crazy because they were so used to my ridiculous letdown.

Thanks for all the input gals.

I do keep a burp cloth between me and Charlie during every feed. And when my milk goes crazy I just spray into that. I know it sounds wasteful but I don't think he'd be patient enough for me to get anything else there to try to store it. So anyway, that does help some. But the issue is more that my milk just sprays strongly into his mouth, with or without a letdown. I just have lots of milk. It has gotten better and I'm sure his growing helps too. But we'll keep working with it and hoping it gets better. My main complaint is that he is SO gassy and SO uncomfy. It's really hard to watch and hear him cry like that. Thankfully he's a really, really good baby and his crying is always very short lived. Sweet baby!

We got our cosleeper and it's all hooked up now. But he's still not sleeping too well without me near. But I feel better about him sleeping on the outside of the bed with his sleeper right there now. Last night was still rough though. Just not sleeping well. Mostly from the gas I think. Poor baby! But we'll keep working on getting him to sleep not on me and in his sleeper. I'm so happy we have it set up though!!

So, I was having a hard time with Charlie being early. I was so upset my mom didn't make it and all that. But having gone through the last 3 weeks, I now have A LOT more peace about it! I mean, there's nothing I could have done to change it, obviously. And Charlie has done SO super well, I can't even begin to complain about any of that. So, yeah. My mom has been here on and off (has to keep going back to FL for work during the week 2 days). And this week my lil sibs (elementary aged) are here too. DH is back to work and it's been a bit chaotic at times. I've had a few times when it's been just me and 5 kids (3 week old, 20 month old, 5, 6 and 7 year old!). CRAZY! I can't imagine if I was only 1 week PP and trying to deal with it all. I mean, i doubt my parents would have left me with all the kids in that case, but still. I'm glad and thankful for Charlie's timing!

Charlie was baptized on Easter too. That was a wonderful day! My family was here and so was DH's.

Here are some pics from the last 3 weeks!
