I woke up this morning feeling pretty good, so I got up and took a shower, which was nice, but wore me out. I know I shouldn't have done it, but I threw a load of cloth pads and wipes in the washing machine and then went back upstairs. I think that was way too much walking and activity for me (not that it was that much) but it really made my bottom a lot more sore than it was. I'm currently sitting on a frozen witch hazel pad.
Cramping overnight was a beast! It actually got so bad that I was wimpering through some of them, like I did with my contractions. I'm surprised my husband didn't wake up. I eventually drifted off to sleep and woke up a while later with a soaking wet pad and undies, and a spot on the sheets. I didn't see any clots, but something may have been going on in there. I did notice that although my uterus has shrunken significantly and is hard, it's not in the middle, it's more to the right hand side, and I don't know why. I'm going to have to contact my MW about that today.
Lindy slept really well last night. She nurses about every 4-5 hours and is turning out to be a good little nurser. My milk has started to come in. I can tell a difference in the fullness of my breasts and in her sucking patterns. She's asleep right now in the pack-n-play a few feet from me. Swaddling is working really well for her. We didn't swaddle Evan. Now I'm wondering why, lol.
Other than that, my house is a wreck and it's really bothering me because my husband is having to clean it by himself and I won't invite anyone over until it looks better than it does now. I do feel ready for a few visitors, but we may wait a little while longer. We don't get a huge amount of people coming over. Mike's family doesn't live here, and my family is quite small so that really limits the number of people who would want to come, so that's good.
Amber, first off, CONGRATS!!! I'm so happy for you! I think your birth story is amazing...I'll have to reread it later, since I'm busy and had to read fast.
About the horrible after pains....did you get a shot of pitocen to help the uterus contract? Apparently after pains are worse if you do. (No judgement on whether you got it or you didn't...I'm just musing.) Also, be very cognizant on whether or not they're getting better or worse. If you feel like they're getting worse, or they're more painful than you think they should be, definitely get checked out. You could have a small piece of membranes or placenta left inside that's causing this. I know someone this happened to, and I remember her talking about the absolutely horrid after pains.
I didn't have any pitocin afterwards (thank goodness). I'll pay very close attention to whether or not they are getting better or worse though. I didn't think about that.
So glad to hear that Lindy is sleeping and nursing well. I hope those afterpains ease up on you very soon!
First of all, Congrats on the arrival of Lindy!!
In my personal experience the cramping when bfing got progressively worse after each pregnancy. After #5 was born the cramping was horrible, to the point where I had to take meds for it, it stopped after about a week. I hope the cramping doesn't last as long for you.

The offside uterus is, to my understanding, caused by a full bladder. Make sure you pee lots...drink lots and pee lots. Keeping your bladder empty helps the uterus shrink too. At least that is what my midwife has told me, as I've had the uterus leaning to one side phenomenon too.
I'm sorry the afterpains have been bad. Are you taking any tylenol or advil?
Congratulations on your baby girl! Thanks for sharing your birth story
Yeah Emily, I have heard that about a full bladder pushing it to the side too. I pee almost as much as I did when I was pregnant, so I thought I was doing a good job keeping it empty, but maybe not.
I've taken tylenol and motril for the cramps and the motrin I find works much better. I'm also using a heating pad that is helping a lot.
Congrats on your baby girl! Thanks for sharing your birth story. Sounds like you did really well, considering how much pain you were in. Good to hear that Lindy is sleeping and nursing well. I hope your pains lessen soon!
