Ok, here it is. For as quick as it ended up being, the story leading up is long!

    Short stats:

    Clara Lynn
born February 11 (my birthday!!!!!) at 38 weeks
    4:32 p.m.
    8 pounds, 2 ounces 20.5 ounces

I'd had contractions off and on for over a week before having her. But they just felt like intense BH's. SIL went ahead and came to visit. She wasn't scheduled until Feb. 16 to arrive!

So we've been hanging out, getting things done on the lists while wondering when the contractions would turn into something productive. But since SIL arrived 3 weeks before due date, we figured it would still be a while.

So on the night of Feb 10, SIL took DS to the fire station to visit DH since he was on shift. I ended up falling asleep twice while they were gone (around 6:30ish p.m.). I fell asleep sitting straight up! So I just stayed in bed when DS got home and went to sleep with him. I woke up around 4 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep, but stayed in bed. Around 5, I started getting more of a menstrual type cramp, but still very, very mild. But since I didn't want to get up and wake DS up, I stayed in bed and timed them. They were lasting about a minute, but about 8 or so minutes apart.

Got up around 7 and took a shower to see if they would go away. The warm water helped, but they were still coming, but just not consistent. So I bounced on the ball for a while. Still getting them, but seriously, like I posted, I wasn't sure if it was truly contractions or poop cramps!

I told DH to let's go ahead and go for a walk since it was 60 degrees and sunny. I figured if it was labor, it could only help and if it wasn't, then I'd just come home and nap to rest. So we walked for about 2 hours. Stopped by a friends house and visited for a while. Had contractions the whole time. DH had the ipad with the contraction timer to time them while we walked! I could walk through them and talk, so nothing crazy. On the way home a couple got more intense where I had to focus but nothing so intense where I thought that it was close.

Right before we walked into the house I called the birth center (around 1:30 p.m. - 3 hours before she was born!) just because I wanted to give them a heads up before they closed and they had been busy the day before with having 5 babies born. Talked to the nurse, explained that I'd been having contractions since 5 a.m. but wasn't sure they were real productive yet. She asked how long my first labor was. I told her 10.5 hours. She paused and said, "yeah, why don't you come in to be checked?"

So DH and I walked back to the house and told SIL that we were heading in. DS was already napping, so we figured we'd go get checked, go eat and come back home.

This is us right before leaving the house. 2 hours and 15 minutes before she was born!

We get to the birth center around 3 p.m. and was 5 cm and baby was in great position. We were so happy because labor until then was super easy! They had me lie on the table and be monitored for about 15 minutes to see the contractions and monitor baby. That wasn't so much fun to be strapped down with those things...even though the contractions didn't really hurt, it just wasn't comfortable.

So MW came back and we told her I needed to eat. She said to go across the street to a BBQ place since they had good food. We got there and I ordered a BBQ sandwich, coleslaw, collard greens, green beans and mac and cheese! Took it back to birth center because it was so warm I wanted to eat outside.

These photos are 30 minutes before she was born!

Spread out the food on the hood of the car in the parking lot in the sun to eat. SIL arrived. our photographer arrived and all was great! It was while I was eating that the contractions started getting intense. I asked DH to rub my back between contractions. After one, I told him to run in and tell them to fill the tub. There were only about a minute between contractions at this point.

After about 3 of the intense contractions, I went inside and straight to my room. Worked through some contractions while the tub was filling.

MW checked and I was 7 cm. Asked if I wanted to have her break my water so I wouldn't have to get out of tub if I wanted to deliver in tub (can't have meconium present in water and deliver in tub). I said yes. She broke my water and I had a contraction while she was doing it. It was tough! I stood up and pretty much ran to the tub! the MW was telling me to hold on and she would help me climb in properly so I wouldn't fall! Then I couldn't move. I couldn't talk! The baby was coming! the MW caught on and said, "Are you pushing?" I couldn't answer but nodded and she said, "She's pushing, get her back to the bed"

They pretty much threw me back on the bed. All crooked, flat on my back! Can't believe that's how I delivered since I know it's not the best way, but for this girl it was!!!

So in the 6-7 steps from the bed after she broke my water, to the bathtub and back to the bed, baby was crowning!

I used all of my might to let her ease out instead of barrel out and tear me. It was INTENSE! I was not at all in the mind frame since I thought I was going to be in the tub for the next 2-3 hours at least! My body was crazy. It was totally pushing by itself. I had to hold back and let baby stretch me slowly. After her head came out, I could totally feel her rotate so I could deliver the shoulders! It was crazy feeling! After I pushed the shoulders out, she slid out. DH was supposed to announce whether it was a girl or boy but I think with as fast as it happened and the umbilical cord was between her legs, he was silent!

The MW said, "It's a GIRL" and everyone screamed!!! DH was crying, I was laughing, it was great!

My mom totally missed it. DS missed it because my cousin who was bringing him just couldn't get there fast enough either. Which ended up being a blessing because I was SCREAMING! I ended up asking everyone to help me many times! So I was glad he got there right after she was born. Since the tub was full and warm, DS got in and swam around for a while

We had to wait 4 hours after she was born to go home, so at 8:30 p.m. we headed home and got cozy for the night! DS stayed with my mom for the weekend, so it was nice to get adjusted before he got home today.

We took her back up to the birth center Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. to get checked out. She had went from birth weight of 8 pounds, 2 ounces to 7 pounds, 15 ounces! My milk had already started coming in! Yay!
