Sorry I'm late to your lodge, but I enjoyed reading the story about meeting your DH!

Hooray for GBS- and for reaching full term! I hope your hip is feeling better today.

I am another acupuncture lover - I know what you mean about getting great naps while you're there.

My hip finally feels a bit better, not 100% but at least it's tolerable. I have the morning off which is awesome. I even got to sleep until almost 8:30 this morning, it was so nice! DH & I went out to dinner last night too - it was really nice to just go out and have a "date".

I'm making some lists of things we need to get done and I keep getting stuck on packing my bag... I really am having a hard time figuring out what I want to labor in... I am not a naked person (although I might be in labor). I think it's just one of my weird little mental blocks anyway. I am subconsciously creating these little "non-problems" for myself - I have had them about burp cloths, socks, and breast feeding so far... now the clothes to labor in.

Nothing is happening with my body really - no contractions or any signs of labor. I think the baby dropped a little, but I will have to look at some pictures to see.

I actually ended up buying something to wear during labor--a little cotton knee-length spaghetti strap nightgown. I wear it as a swimsuit cover-up sometimes. It wasn't really the best for hosptial birthing, though, since I had to pull it up over my belly to put the monitors on (which I never got off once they were on, since I got there at 8cm). A sports bra and sarong-style skirt probably would have worked better.

I'm glad your hip is feeling better! Whip out those pics!

I'm planning to make sure and get a date night with my hubby in those last few weeks as well. I bought a night gown to put in my bag but it's more for after baby arrives than anything. It's about knee length and buttons down about half way. I also bought a light robe that I can chuck if it gets too messed up. For laboring, I think I'd actually prefer to wear my birth center's gear and/or nothing. I know some ladies prefer to labor in their own clothes because they feel more comfortable but I'd be buying something new and really cheap anyway so it wouldn't feel like my clothes either way. I was thinking about bringing a sports bra or bathing suit top for tub laboring but then I saw lots of ladies in videos just covered in towels in the tub. I've got my own mental block about what to wear. I keep thinking that it will be a pain to remove a sports bra or top of some sort for immediate skin to skin so why not just wear a towel or nothing at all. In the moment, I bet you'll completely forget your modesty anyway!

Last week of work!!! I can't believe I am at this point already Work is really starting to wear me down, so I am really glad this is my last week. I just am having a hard time physically doing my job these days (if the kids would cooperate a little more it might be a bit easier). This last week is super busy between work and appointments though.

We had a super busy weekend trying to make sure everything we need to do gets done. I finalized the person who is going to do my placenta encapsulation and started making sure I had all the stuff she needs. We set up a diaper service for the first month or so, I don't think I could deal with diaper laundry right away (we have to go out to do laundry) so that's a relief. Otherwise, we are just going down our list amd trying to get it all done. I have to get some labor snacks/drinks and pack my bag still - DH is getting crazy about that.

I have an appointment at 1 today and acupuncture tonight.

I hope your appointment goes well!! If it were me, I would probably pack a big over-sized t-shirt of DH's to labor in. Either that or a big comfy, cotten nightgown. But I'll most likely be a naked laborer, especially at home lol. It's been so hot, half the days I sit around naked anyways lmao.

Sounds like things are definitely coming together... and BIG YAY for last week of work!

I tried to update about my appointment earlier, but I couldn't get on to preg.org - so here's my update.

My m/w appointment was good - there was a new m/w who was joining the practice so she sat in on my appointment - she didn't add much and I didn't think to ask if she will be attending births at this point. I kind of hope she won't be, just because I don't know her. I know they are down a m/w (they normally have 5) because Amanda - who I really wanted to be there for my birth - is on maternity leave. Anyway - BP was 100/60, baby is down a lot lower and her HR was great.

We discussed the stupid eye goop and Vitamin K (for what feels like the 900th time) and I am so frustrated with NY State! I can't opt out of either of those because it's a public health law. It doesn't fall under the vax laws so I can't get an exemption either. The state can basically take temporary custody long enough to administer them if you refuse (not only would that be traumatic beyond belief, but I can't have a child services report filed on me, I am a teacher and could lose my license). I am very allergic to erythromycin and even that doesn't matter, because the attending ped that my m/w spoke to said it won't make a difference, because a baby that young can't even have an allergic reaction (which I am pretty sure is BS). We discussed what options we have - basically we plan to wait as long as possible (although NYS law says it must be done within the first hour of life) and hope she gets sleepy and will try to do it on closed eyes and then immediately wipe/wash it off. The vitamin K will be done at that point as well. I am just really upset that my daughter won't be even an hour old and I will not be able to make choices to protect her. As much as I love living in NYC, some of the laws really stink. If I were to give birth over the river in NJ, it would be a choice.

Wow I would be so frustrated and probably angry in your position. It sounds like there's not much you can do. I don't see how the vit K is a public health issue, that's just dumb. It all is. Ugh.
Yay for an otherwise good appointment and last week of work.

I can sympathize with the hip pain. DS did a number on me during pregnancy and that is the thing that took me the longest to "recover" from after birth.

Yay for GBS- and can't wait to hear about tomorrow' appt to get your all clear for the BC.

Loved your intro about you and DH and the dog! My DH's dog came to live with me about 5 months before DH moved in

I'm glad you had a good appointment other than the eye goop and Vit K issue. I understand what you mean about not being able to make decisions for your new baby. It is an awful feeling, but I agree that I would probably not make that fight either. It sounds like you have a good plan as far as waiting until she's sleepy and then wiping it off asap.

    How are you feeling today?
