That's weird that NY won't let you opt out of vitamin K and the eye ointment. There has to be a way out of that. I'm going to look into it.
One thing I just thought of, can you get your pediatrician (or the MW) to give the Vit. K in oral form? The baby would still be getting it, but from the research I've done it's much better that way, better absorbed, and the baby doesn't have to get an injection. Just a thought.
That is absurd! Not to get into a political rant...but things like this is why I think our government is too big and tries to put it's hands into things it shouldn't have it's hands in. If a mother doesn't have an STD, then one of those NY doctors needs to tell me exactly why the baby needs to have the eye goop. And I'd love to know why oral vitamin K isn't acceptable to them. What a mess, I'm sorry you have to deal with that!
I just had an idea. Have you ever been to mothering.com? If anyone's been able to get around this stuff in NY, they will probably be there. I would head over there and ask for advice.

I'm sorry about the vit K and eye goop issue. Especially with you being allergic to ethromycin. People shouldn't have to choose between making what they feel is the best health decision for their child and keeping their job.
My final ultrasound is today - I am so anxious to have it done and to hopefully have the official clearance I need. I am going to be all jittery until this afternoon!
Oooo I'm anxious to hear how your u/s goes as well!! GL!

How frustrating. I can't believe you are being put into that position. It is things like this that make me want to move to some deserted island.
GL on your u/s. I hope you can get into the birth center.
