Good luck at your U/S!
It really stinks that NYS is such a nanny state when it comes to newborn care. I was a little surprised at how little AZ requires (since we seem to want to regulate so many other things lately). I did some googling and came across this :http://www.vaclib.org/exempt/newyork.htm#newborn
It states right there in bold lettering how difficult it is to get around it but perhaps it can help you. Even taking all the proper legal precautions, they still might call CPS on you. If you can't do that because of your job it might be time to admit defeat.
I have looked at that site before - but I can't risk the call to CPS because of my job. We discussed it extensively and it's very likely that they will call. If we didn't live in the city it might be a different story because the hospitals might be somewhat more flexible. I hate feeling like I have given up though.
So my u/s was mixed They couldn't even see my placenta with the transvaginal u/s so I have clearance for the birth center, which is really great. My fluid was lowish though - it was a 5, which I know is borderline, but they are having me go back in on Monday for a BPP to check my levels. I know I haven't been getting enough to drink and have been running around like crazy this week, so that has to have a lot to do with it. My ankles are swelling also. I had planned on working tomorrow and running lots of errands/doing last minute things this weekend, but I am going to take it easy and not do most of them and have already called out of work for tomorrow - I would rather relax and rehydrate so they won't try to induce me if my fluids are still low on monday.
I'm drinking a ton - coconut water, recharge, lemon water w/sea salt and plain water. I feel like I could float away at this point. But the good thing is that after just super hydrating myself from 4pm yesterday until I went to bed last night, my ankles are back! They had been really gross and swollen all week. I was so happy to see them back this morning! Plus waking up without my alarm clock was really nice.
Yay for getting clearance for the BC! Drink up and get those liquids back to normal.
I'm so sorry about the NY laws about what they have to administer at birth. That just stinks. I feel you about being stuck too because a call to CPS would be the end of my carreer as well. I wonder what people do when it against their religon?

Hope the hydration and rest does the trick for you! Yay for being cleared for the birth center!
So glad your placenta is out of the way! The hydrating reducing the swelling in your ankles sounds like a good sign. I read something recently about how coconut water is like a natural super sports drink.
I hope the hydration works. I hadn't heard about the coconut water, that is interesting. I think resting and recharging is a perfect idea. Try and relax as much as possible. Yay on the clearance for the BC.
