Home again...went in at noon for NST in the Birthing Pavilion. There was another woman in the bed next to me (behind the curtain) and she was getting her cerclage out. Her water had broken & I don't know how early she was but I heard her say that they estimated her baby at 4lbs and she'd had shots to develop his lungs, etc. Poor thing!
I sat on the monitor for over an hour, baby's HR going up and down. I had a couple of ctx. Finally I was getting really sick of sitting there, and starting to feel a little puffy and achy from not moving, so I hit the call button and asked if I could get up. They said they were still waiting for the MW and to sit tight. Soon after, an Ob stopped in to see me--I'd never met her but she was really cool. She glanced at my monitor strip, proclaimed it "awesome" and asked how far I was. She did a little eye-pop when I said 10 days past EDD and explained that I was there for the NST in lieu of induction. She said, "you probably want to get home then" and offered to check & sweep me. I was still 1cm, very soft, and 30% effaced. I started to say something and she said "30, 50% something like that." So, no further effaced. She did the sweep and I breathed through it--it wasn't that bad and was over quickly. A few mins later the MW came in and said there was one opening for induction on Thurs (42w) and I needed to book it, so I did. I don't have any other appts set. I just hope I go into labor SOON! If I get induced Thurs I will not be released in time for DH's graduation on Sat.
We then went to lunch (DD was home w/my mom) and then shopping. I felt some ctx but nothing earth-shattering. SIL was already here when we got home! So I'm going up to change sheets in the guest room, do some last-minute cleaning, and wait for labor!! Oh, in the TMI dept: my system *may* be starting to clean out. Not dramatically yet, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks for all the vibes!!
well sounds like a great appt. hopefully the s&s will get you going. i'm sure you will go before thursday...you sound like you are sooo close.
drats! I really keep hoping for you...I will be upset for you if you dont make it to the grad! I was as active as you are near the end (but again never made it quite that far)...some bodies carry pregnancies just too well (if there is such a thing)...On the plus side though, its great that you were/are able to get them to wait until 42 weeks. I really wish you all the labour vibes I can muster!
*whew* Just had a very busy evening: laundry, made up guest room, cleaned kitchen, reupholstered our last 4 dining chairs (off-white microfiber + a toddler don't mix so we recovered them in wine-colored vinyl), and picked up toddler debris. DH & his sister played Mario Kart Wii while I finished the kitchen (I have no problem with this: they don't get to see eachother very often, and she's tired from an 11hr drive up.)
I'm feeling lots of ctx but so far they're not getting TOO intense. Right now I'm having one that is kind of wavelike, going from my belly to a very low cervical ache. Being on my feet for the past few hours (except when I was sitting on the floor with the staple gun doing chairpads) probably helped.
I guess this is nesting; I think of it more as last-minute cleaning that needed to be done. My ILs arrive midday tomorrow. They never expected me to still be pregnant!
Let's hope my next update is the one where I say, "I'm on my way to L&D!"
I hope your contractions pick up. You've been so patient; you really deserve this!
