We have a wimpy window unit in the dining room, and a big, not-very-efficient energy sucker in the office. DH has a million computers (web developer home business) and they generate a TON of heat. It's tolerable, but I've had a few days where I get all irritable and pissy cause I'm just sick of being hot! Sometimes I take a cool shower in the middle of the day just to cool off even tho I showered that morning...
Well, this is a pisser....
MIL and FIL are currently driving to Houston to see the ovarian cancer specialists at MD Anderson. Isn't it great that there's a tropical storm getting ready to land? Ugh.
Anyway, I spoke with MIL before she left, and she's determined that they can't afford to pay out of pocket for the cord blood banking. It really is expensive ($2,000). I'm worried that MD Anderson might recommend a transplant, but her application to CBR will be denied. I'm currently trying to work up a way to split the cost between MIL, us, and SIL. We'll see.
Ergh. Stupid ****ing cancer.
It is expensive...
I hope they don't get caught up in the storm!!! I'll be thinking of them!
Thanks. One of the girls from my other board, JLIH, is keeping tabs on the weather for us.
In other, BETTER news, here's a XP:
I can't express how lucky I feel. Our annual income is going to take a hit, because I'm dropping to part-time and DH is taking a pay cut to join this company. But it means security, a "normal" schedule, and lots of time for me to be at home with Cubby. Yay!I feel really blessed. DH got a new job just yesterday - it's been in the works but yesterday it's official. They made him an offer that really works for us. I still plan on going back part-time (I provide the benefits. They're much better at my job.), but DH said I can probably stay out of work for longer than the estimated 6 weeks or so I was planning on.
So - I'm hoping to stay home 8-10 weeks, then I will return for Friday and Saturday night shifts, during which DH will stay with Cubby. This way we won't have to pay for child care, and I'll essentially be a housewife/SAHM for 5 days/nights per week. DH is going to take 2-3 weeks "off" after Cub is born - his new employer is being really flexible with his official "start date". Until then, he's just working on an hourly basis.
I feel so lucky and am excited!
Andrea, that is awesome news about dh's new job and the flexibility is amazing!!!!
Ok, I am soooo behind on your lodge!! First of all, that is amazing about the placenta capsules. Me and DH always joke about frying it up and eating it. But I really hope you find some great benefits from it. I'm excited to hear about your experience!!
That sucks about your MIL having to battle cancer again. She sounds like such a strong woman and fighters like that are the ones that can beat it!! I'll be praying that you will find a way to fund the stem cells. What an amazing gift your little Cubby will give his grandma!
Also, congrats on the job and the routine you will be able to have. That's wonderful you won't have to pay for childcare and can keep your benefits!!
Congrats on the job news! I work PT and provide the benefits for my family as well, so I know how that goes. My DH stays home one day (of the three that I work, my mom watches the other two) and the bond he has with my DD is amazing. You will be amazed at how much more you love your DH when you see him taking care of Cubby. It's awesome! (Plus, they really appreciate how hard it is when they have to do it all by themselves. )
Well....I don't know if I have gas or if I'm in early/practice labor. I'm having contractions every few minutes and they're starting to hurt. I've been having BH's for a couple of weeks, but this is new.
They usually go for a few hours and then quit, esp if I lay down and sleep. It started with horrible gas/indigestion last night, which led to a night of menstrual cramping and contractions. I was still able to sleep quite well, especially thanks to Hypnobabies. Then, today, intense BH's continued ALL DAY LONG despite my doing housework, vacuuming, having a scheduled prenatal visit from our doula, taking Mali to the vet, etc.
I ate some Chipotle for dinner, and they started to become painful/more attention-demanding, and menstrual-feeling again. So I listened to the Hypnobabies Deepening track. I fell asleep for a while...woke up comfortable. But as soon as I got up off the couch I'm back with frequent, painful contractions. I'm comfy enough to sit here and type, but they definitely hurt more/are stronger than they've been.
gas? indigestion? early labor? who knows?????
