AACK! You have a lodge already?? EEK! I remember you being AuntieArty on TOC when I lurked over there last summer. Holy cow and you're due just before me so...you having a lodge makes me very nervous, Ariana! But I'm excited for you as well. Get ready, you are in for the ride of your life!
Had my 36 week appointment today. Did the GBS swab. Crossing fingers it comes back negative. I also had a bit of a shock. I saw the backup backup mw today, and the first thing she says to me is "You had Hep A before, have you had your liver checked? Because if you are at all thinking of having a homebirth, you need to have that ok'd by your doctor." And I'm thinking, crapola, there's no way my doctor will ok a homebirth! But it turns out it's all good. The Hep A was when I was a kid, and everything's been fine since. I've had my liver checked since then and it's perfectly healthy. I just need to get a copy of the specialist's report on that. But still, it would have been nice to know before now that I need that! Jees!
Congrats on your lodge! Glad it turned out ok with not needing dr approval for the homebirth! What a stresser that would have been at this point. It`s funny how midwives notice or point out different things huh!
No, I wouldn't do a UC. That's my dream, really, but not for number one. To be honest, I don't give 2 hoots what my family doc has to say about it. I don't really like her, and I've always found her to be moderately uncooperative with me. I tried to find another doc, but that's another story.
So *if* it had turned out that this whole liver thing really WAS an issue, I'd have a good long heart to heart with my primary midwife. She's excellent, in that she doesn't try to sway me one way or the other. If she didn't have a really good honest to goodness reason why I couldn't birth at home, I just stick with the plan. If she presented a really good reason why I'd have to go to the hospital, I'd plan to labour at home as long as possible before heading over. The hospital is only 5 minutes away anyway.
