Loved your stories. Great job in labor mama!! Sad you're in so much pain - praying for you to get some relief!! xoxo
I enjoyed reading your stories- how cool that you and DH have known each other for so long! I'm sorry I have no advice for the swelling. You sound like you had a good first birth- what are your plans for this one?
ETA- how has your son's club foot done with treatment? I was born with a club foot too- not sure on the severity of it but I had to have a cast on my foot as a baby and I remember my parents doing stretching exercises and really working with me to walk correctly on it. I hardly notice it now though.

My hands feel better, the right one still wakes me up at night, but at least the severe pain in the left went away. It's crazy what pregnancy does to our bodies!
As far as our plans for this birth: we are hoping for a homebirth. We had our home visit on Saturday. I love my midwife, she is adorable and comforting and great. I have all my birth supplies and laundry done so we are all set when baby decides it's go time.
I have been having lots of strong contractions for a few weeks, so hopefully I am dilating like I did with DS. In fact, yesterday afternoon I was having strong contractions that created a LOT of painful pressure on my cervix. The MW doesn't do internal exams unless necessary so I won't know if I am making progress 'till labor, if then. But I hope it is another short and sweet labor.
DunyaWolf - Will's feet are fantastic, thanks for asking! Both his feet were turned in, the left much stiffer and the right more flexible. When he was 6 days old he got his first set of casts and a new set every week for 6 weeks. At 6 weeks he had a minor surgical procedure to loosen some tendons and wore his last set of casts for 3 weeks. After that he was fitted for a set of Markell boots and a metal bar. He wore those 23 hours a day for 3 months and graduated to only wearing them at night. He stills wears the brace every night and will till he's 4. It has been a long, hard, sleepless road, but we are really pleased with his progress, you can't tell anything was wrong. He walked at 10 or 11 months and ran shortly after. He jumps and spins and dances and hops.
He treats at the Shriner's Hospital in Tampa, it's a 3 hour drive for us, but treatment is free. The Shriner's are really amazing.
thanks for sharing your birth story. I am glad your son is perfect and that Shriners was able to help you. I have carpal tunnel when not pg so I feel your pain. Have you tried splints during the night?

Last night was fun, I felt weird and I was contracting in a strange way. I thought we might have some action, but then I sat up and burped and that was the end of that. The pregnant body is so weird.
I had my 38 week appt. on Thursday. Everything seems fine. The MW did my GBS swab so we will know in a week if I need the antibiotics. She sent me home with a set of antibiotics just in case I go into labor before the results come back.
Jack is still nestled head down, but she said his head is still floating. He dropped a week or 2 ago - it was pretty dramatic, the night before I was showing my mom where he was, all lodged up in my ribs, and by the next morning I went to find the top of the fundus and it was down a good 3 inches from my sternum! Will was engaged and applying pressure to my cervix really early. By the last week I was walking around his head. But if Jack's head is still floating near my pelvis then I suppose we have more waiting ahead.
Will was born at 37w6d, that's today!! It is hard to wrap my head around the idea that we are talking about days instead of months till Jack arrives.
I'm starting to get a little antsy for him to get out though. Last time I was focused on keeping the baby in and enjoying the magic and the wonder and all that goop. This time - between the carpel tunnel and the pelvic pain - I am kinda ready to get my body back, please and thank you. Of course that means I am jinxing myself and he will go 2 weeks late!!
Thanks for sharing you stories! How sweet that you & dh met as young teens. I'm glad your all set for your HB. Sounds like you body is getting ready.
