I had a WONDERFUL appointment with my midwife and her apprentices today. BP was good, h/r was good, and we are thinking he is laying ROA (what I suspected). I am GBS -. We talked out the whole EDD ordeal. I'm getting ready to delete my ticker anyways lol b/c counting the days is aggravating. I am measuring 41 weeks, and by one of the first dating u/s I should be 37 weeks today (by LMP, I am 37w5d). She said she doesn't think he is that big though based on feeling his size... her guesstimate was around 7 lbs right now. DD was 8 lbs even born at 39 weeks, so that wouldn't surprise me. They all said they can definitely tell he is very low in my pelvis... and I am for sure feeling that way.

We had a long talk that I felt was more important to me than anything (well, other than a healthy baby of course lol). I got out some of my stress about my mom, as well as the loneliness I am feeling without DH here, plus the fact that I am extremely worried about him over there. I also told them about being worried I won't call in time. My family is so dramatic that I tend to swing the opposite way and I don't call sometimes when I should, and my mw is an hour and a half away. There was all around really great energy in the office today, and that is just what I needed!!

Home-visit scheduled for next Tuesday... which is a full moon too I believe!!

I'm so glad that you had a wonderful appt. today and that you got to talk some things out and feel more at peace. Yay for a home visit next week! I'm having that exact same fear about not calling in time (MW is just over an hour from us) and I have the same mind set as you and won't call when I should. I'm trying to let go of that idea that I'm putting the MW out if she gets her way too early but its hard. I totally feel you on that.

Yay for a great appointment. You found a great group of ladies. Delete that ticker! Baby will come when he's ready and watching that clock will just make it worse. If he comes so quickly that you don't call in time, no worries, you'll handle it just like the pros. It happens!

Have you seen this video?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoIiVszj1EU

I watch it for inspiration from time to time .

Erin, I LOVE that video... the expression she makes when she catches the baby is PRICELESS!!!

I forgot to add earlier that they told me they have had 2 HBACs since I last saw them. One was 36 hours and the other was EXTREMELY short!! We are hoping I fall somewhere in between the two. I have been visualizing a 4-8 hour birth, so hopefully that's what happens

Glad you're feeling better Ariel. It sounds like you really needed to talk some things out with your mw.

I can't imagine what you go through with DH overseas. I know it was so hard for me when my brother was over there and sometimes we wouldn't hear from him for long stretches. I think I've asked you before but I can't remember, what is DH's MOS? My brother is EOD, which completely makes sense to me. He loved to blow things up when he was a kid and play with fire so a job in explosives makes sense

How have things been going lately with your mom with the birth getting closer?

How's DD doing? Does she understand that there's a baby coming?

Glad you had a good appointment. It sounds like you really got a lot off your chest that needed to be out & discussed.

No matter how much preparing you do, there's always a chance something will happen that you know nothing about! Your DD's birth sounds like that would've been the case regardless. I'm glad you both ended up okay although it must've been very scary! I hope all goes well this time

DH drives trucks The last deployments they pretty much stayed on the base, but this time he has been out and about everywhere. They come back for like a day or two and then they go out again. OMG, your brother is crazy!! LOL... I can certainly see how that would make you very nervous with him over there.

You know, mom and I haven't really talked about it. Birthing from Within helped me to sort of have a revelation. My mom had 3 c/s and she never got the chance to trust and believe in her body. So when I try to talk about things, I honestly think she is just lost. All she knows is her experience, and then all the emergency situations she has handled as an L&D nurse. She is one of those people when you call that immediately asks, "What's wrong?" instead of "Hey, how are you?" LOL. I am feeling better about all that... she just isn't able to be my NCB support, but I have YOU ladies and my birth team I think we are going to wait until I am in good active labor and then call her. And of course I hope she is there afterwards... she is a wonderful nurturer in that sense. After I had DD, I don't know what I would have done without her!!

I don't think DD really understands. I tell her there's a baby in my belly and she pats it and gives me kisses sometimes, but I don't think she gets it. She does have a little baby doll that we take care of, and feed, but I can't really explain to her. I talk to her about it all the time though, so maybe she understands more than I think lol... never know!!
