I'm sorry you had such a rough day. I hope your cousin is doing well. Hopefully your cold will go away and labor can start on its own before Monday. I'll be thinking of you.

Thank you ladies. Today has been a little better. For one I FINALLY finished editing all the images from my last wedding. Huge relief! Then my cousin said she was feeling better so I'm sporting a new cut and color. It's amazing how much that does to help feel better. Then in talking to my sister she reminded me that the baby is more than full term and I can probably take anything I would take while nursing - including Cold FX so I've started that and I hope that I can hammer this cold by the weekend. Then DH finished setting up the pool so I laid in a chair in it for an hour and it was beautiful.

So in talking to my cousin who is naturally minded she had an interesting thought about induced vs natural labor. She was telling me about how her cervadil induced labor was so much longer than her spontaneous labor. Now part of that might have been 3rd baby (induced) vs 4th baby (spontaneous), but her 2nd which was spontaneous as well was quick and a breeze. She thinks it's because you can potentially have hours of hard ctx that don't actually dilate you. And when I think about Adelle's birth I know that I started the induction at 3cm. 3.5 hours later (and having hard ctx almost the whole time) I was still 3cms. 2.5 hours after that I was at 10 cm. I wonder if I had gone into labor on my own if it would have only been 2.5 hours? Just some things I'm thinking about as my induction day approaches.

Yeah for a new haircut! I got mine cut right after my due date too and it made me feel so much better.

I think your cousin's theory sounds good. Both of my labor have been induced and I started both at about 3cm. The second time I had four hours of Pit contractions that did almost nothing. Things didn't get going until they broke my water. With the first, they broke my water right off the bat and it went faster and easier. So I know I dealt with unproductive contractions that did nothing but wear me out. I don't have a natural labor to compare it too though.

I hope you go into labor on your own and you don't have to worry about your induction date.

I know with my induction, I started out not dilated at all and after 24 hours on cervadil and continuous hard contractions I was only dilated to a 3 slight 4. Even though my contractions were intense and regular, they were not productive and did very little. So I definitely think there is something to your cousin's theory.

I'm glad you were able to get your hair cut and had a much nicer day yesterday! Your cousin's theory sound very reasonable.

    Hey Connie,

Just dropping by to get an update and was hoping to find, well, I'm sure it's more what you were hoping than what I was!

I'm leaving tonight for 3 weeks so I'm gonig to have to just cross my fingers for you and wish you the very best in your labour and birth.

I talked to my MW (Barb Scriver) and mentionned you. She's got such a great memory that she remembered that you left a message with her... and she feels bad that you couldn't get a midwife...

I think your cousin is on to something about induced vs spontaneous labor. I have had both. With spontaneous labor, you don't usually have the frequency and intensity of contractions of "active labor" before 4 cm like you do with induction.

I hope you go into labor on you own, Connie! If not, I hope the induction goes smoothly.

Aw... I wanted Barb so bad this pregnancy but it's my own fault for thinking I had time to secure a midwife. I know better I'd there is a next time. I hope you have fun on your vacation Sarah!

So yesterday I took matters into my own hands. I tried a castor oil cocktail my old midwife is currently recommending to her clients. It's supposed to be lemon verbena and then a cocktail of apricot juice almond butter and castor oil. The almond butter is supposed to make it so it's not a toilet induction. I can't find lemon verbena anywhere in the city so I had to skip that step. Two hours later I was swimming in the pool with my kids. It didn't have the effect I expected or maybe the almond butter is really THAT good! I was crampy until around 7:30pm and then started getting regular ctxs 2 mins apart...30 to 40 seconds long. They were gentle but strong enough I had to breathe through. This was 5 hours after I had taken the cocktail... So no idea if it caused the ctxs?

Anyway I timed them for an hour. They were steady and would occassionally get stronger but not strong enough compared to what I've had in the past so around midnight I went to bed still having these ctxs. I woke up to still having them. But they are the same strength. I want to get them going stronger!! So anyway I guess today I'm going to make a good attempt to get things going better. Long walk, and nipple simulation here we come!
