I blew it up when it first arrived because they have like a 48 hour return policy against factory defects but it's not blown up now because it takes up so much room (my midwife is lending me a pump that blows it up in 15 minutes). It seemed really roomy, but it's my first experience with a birth pool. it's the deepest on the market and it definitely felt deep when I sat in it... I'll have to be careful to fill it up enough so there is enough water to be buoyant but not so much I feel like I'm swimming! Definitely enough room for me and DH though.

I can't remember when I inflated mine last time, but I kept it inflated and turned it on it's side on top of our dining room table. I only have a foot pump though so it takes more than fifteen minutes. It really looks like a nice pool, I hope it works out great for you.

Welcome to your lodge!! Your birth story, I think, is where most of ours started. That's how it started for me. Happy homebirthing!!

Hi Kristina! Congrats on #5, I love the name

Well I'm kind of bummed this morning because I went to bed early last night with DS (thank you daylight savings time!) and missed the text message from my midwife that we would have to reschedule my appointment because she was going to be at a birth all night. I didn't really have anything to talk to her about but I wanted to get the air pump & water pump from her in case the full moon tonight brought labor on . I still have to drive up there for my chiro appointment and it's 45 min-1 hour away depending on morning traffic so it kind of sucks I have to go up there twice this week but DS rarely can make it through both appointments anyway without trying to destroy the exam rooms... even with snacks and juice and toys in both rooms. I'm a little terrified of what life is going to be like with a 2 year old and a newborn. I have a feeling I'm going to be a huge hermit and all of my holiday shopping is going to be online this year.

The lady who delivered our Chinese food last night predicted I would give birth in 7-10 days so I'm interested to see if her prediction is right . She was pretty wide-eyed about how big and low I am as if I would give birth while signing the receipt, it made me laugh. She should have seen me with the last pregnancy! I've gained 40 lbs this time and it's all belly and last time I put on about 65 and was very swollen.... he was born at the end of August in Texas so that probably had something to do with it. My birthday is November 12 so I'm really interested to see if she'll show up before, on, or after my birthday.

I still have a few last minute things to get that I almost completely forgot about. I need to get food-grade hoses and connectors from Lowe's to fill up the birth pool and plastic covers for the pillowcases if I can remember it. I *think* that is about it but I can't find my list of birth supplies and I was going to get a new list from the midwife this morning but I'll just have to wing it until we reschedule. I'm pretty sure I have everything I NEED need so if I go into labor I'll be fine.

I do need to go grocery shopping and make sure the house is stocked with food... snacks for labor, snacks for midwifes and husband and something good to eat after labor. I was going to do a crock pot meal but I think we're using that to keep damp washcloths warm for during the pushing stage if I'm birthing on land.

I've been having a lot of mild contractions but nothing regular or intensifying... I lost my mucous plug for the second time (both times was a huge glob, so I wasn't losing parts of it) last Thursday after losing it for the first time 3 weeks ago so maybe that means I'm dilating a little bit more. I walked around a TON on Halloween with my DS and had to carry him half the time (and he's a hefty 33 lbs) but that didn't send me into labor so I'm accepting that I have absolutely no control over that and she'll come when she's ready... I just hope she's ready sometime before Thanksgiving .

I know how you feel with taking a toddler to office visits. My DD always tries to get into EVERYTHING. I'm interested to hear if the lady who delivered your Chinese food ends up being right. Good luck getting all the small last minute details taken care of.

This is my first chance to say welcome to your lodge. Did you make it through the full moon? Sorry your appointment was canceled, that is always frustrating.

No full moon baby for me!

My midwife appointment was rescheduled to yesterday and I picked up the air pump and water pump for her... I STILL need to go pick up the hosing but every day its getting just a little harder to get everything done with a toddler and a belly that just keeps getting bigger! Hopefully today I will get some nesting energy and finish unpacking our bedroom (we've been here a month and we're STILL not fully unpacked). I have totally not felt nest-y at all and that makes me think she's not going to show up for awhile. At least I'm not going to get any more cervical checks to see if I'm progressing because even though I *knew* it "meant nothing" when my midwife checked me a few weeks ago, here I sit, knowing I've been at least 2 cm and 75% effaced for this long and am still not going into labor and that is driving me crazy!

I think because I'm approaching the gestational age when I was induced with my DS I'm just losing a little bit of confidence in my body. I KNOW my body can do it because its already dilating and effacing on its own but not knowing what a natural progression of labor is like makes it hard to believe it will ever happen. I can't wait to go into labor. I'm really not that uncomfortable, just anxious and wanting to experience it and meet my little girl.

My little sister is visiting me this weekend and she is hoping I'll go into labor when she is here. I would love for that to happen because if my sister wasn't living 3 hours away and going to college I would definitely want her here for the birth. But with my luck it won't be for 3 or 4 weeks

Even if you know your body can labor by its self, it still frustrating wondering when it's going to happen. It sounds like your body is on the right track though!
