Thanks everyone
I am still in hospital so haven't had much of a chance to write a birth story. We're all doing well, I just need a little time to get BF completely sorted. Nights are tough. The first night I slept 2 hours total over about 15 minute blocks and last night the midwives (I love them) took the girls for a couple of hours to allow me to get some sleep! Might go home later today, we'll see how today goes - I am not going to rush anything
Funny story (to me anyway). The obstetrician came round yesterday with his colleagues. He proudly showed off "his" natural vaginal twin labour. Glad I could help![]()
Also, one of the midwives also told me that he had wound up the other obstetricians during ward handover earlier by telling them that I was still in labour and refusing a csec and epidural and that they would have to take over as he was going home! Where's that banging head blinkie when you need it??

WARNING - PHOTOS OF PLACENTAS BELOW:
All pregnancy I was told that there were two separate placentas. So it was a bit of a shock when a single large placenta came out! I still think the girls are not identical and that the placenta must have fused at some point.
I don't know if this is too graphic, but I found it really interesting... This is how the girls were positioned in their sacs. My midwife is holding up the sacs on the placenta and you may be able to see each of the cords coming out?
And the maternal attachment side of the placenta:
Considering one of the reasons that I was told that twins "have" to be delivered at 40 weeks is the increased risk of placental degradation....no calcified areas on my one at 40+1 weeks!

I know- thank you!!
They spend almost all of the time snuggled together, I guess because this is how they were in the womb....neither dropped into my pelvis for any more than an hour or two so they must have been head to head for the majority of the time.
What freaks me out a little though is that more often than not they sleep like this:
I'm sure that they would move if they couldn't breathe......I guess??

They are so adorable! I'm happy to hear that things went well. You rock!
Congrats Jules! You are amazing and they are beautiful! I love the placenta pics! That is so amazing!
BTW, I thought of you while I was labouring, and giving birth. I kept thinking, "how the f*ck does a twin mama do this twice?!!!" Seriously, YOU are my hero!

I LOVE the placenta photos. Placenta's are so dang cool. When my twins were little they both would sleep face to face, it made me crazy b/c I always worried they'd suffocate one another but they never did & they were like that a lot in the womb too.
Congrats again!!
Mama to 7 curious, wild & wonderful little ones ♥
