Well, I totally failed on the second car seat issue! We managed to get one into the back of the car....looks really weird, I'm going to need to get used to these extra seats! I NEED to get the other one sorted this week.

DH helpfully said that instead we should just choose our favourite baby and just take that one home

So had an appointment with the Obstetrician and MW today. It was.....good and strange.

All very boring medically I guess? BP 121/78, urine normal, no swelling, measuring term (but have for several weeks), bloods good (had some taken last week), FHRs 131 and 158 bpm. Had the US machine quickly run over my tummy to check positions, both heads are down next to each other and "right there". Neither are engaged but very, very close to my pelvis...positions are pretty much the same as in my previous photo except that B is slightly more posterior so good on that front as well. Apparently I am the most "normal" twin pregnancy that they have had for 12-15 years....hopefully that bodes well

So the strange bit. After having all the checks etc.. I sat down and he started with "so have we talked about pain control during labour?". At this point I thought "here, we go again" and geared up for a fight. I said something along the lines of "yes, and we disagree about the epidural". But then he totally shocked me by just accepting this, we had a sensible conversation about the pros and cons (I am well read with the medical stuff) and he just documented our discussion and my decision. That was it. He stated that as the two heads were in a "perfect position" for vaginal twin delivery and I probably wouldn't need the epidural....WTF - after all that stuff before??? Now hopefully he keeps to his word and doesn't push it when the time comes. But YAYYYY!

Then he just said that he would probably see me again in labour but provisionally booked another appt for two weeks (I have a MW appt next week for my general checks etc..). He doesn't want to think about inducing me until at least 40 weeks (at my request, and he would be very reluctant to do at all) as I have a "tendency to go over" and have gone into spontaneous labour twice. I am in total shock but very happy!!!

Anyway, just thought that I would post my appt. Now everyone has to just behave themselves, myself included

Wow that sounds like a great appt to me. Yay for doctor being reasonable. The part about the most "normal" twin delivery cracks me up, because it makes no sense. LOL I have 4 carseats in my van. I am so used to it now that I don't even think about it. My issue now is what to do about the upcoming baby. eek!

LOL - I know about the "normal" twin pregnancy. I do wonder though whether all the hoops you have to jump through and information about the risks of multiple pregnancy doesn't help matters??? It seems that I was bombarded with all this negative information about what could go wrong from the first day I found out I was having two...

My risk of pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes (I declined the GD test), birth defects, preterm labour, IUGR.....IS higher with twins and this was stressed heavily. However, I was also lucky that I have a midwife who was able to say that it is also possible to have a relatively smooth and uneventful pregnancy. I think that's crucial too.

Five car seats??? Man, I am struggling with seeing three and I need to get another in this week...

Awesome appointment, LOL and way to be "normal". I remember my OB when I delivered Aidan called my delivery "text book" it seemed odd to me too lol.

Great job baking those babies, I can't wait to "meet" them

Woohoo - made it to March!!! That was my goal

You know when you can't sleep at night (grrr - stupid contractions!!!)? Well, last night a question from the obstetrician was playing over and over in my head. At the end of our appointment he looked at my girls and said "so, are you having two boys this time?" and then paused when I didn't respond and said "or is it another two girls?". I explained that I didn't know and these two are surprises...

So now I am thinking "did he *see* something in the very quick scan?" (which I actually doubt as it was literally a check on positions and trying to work out which part belong to which baby let alone seeing between the legs of each baby) and was trying to back-peddle and WHY didn't he say "or one of each?".

Argghhh I am over-analysing this one!!! I am now at the stage when I want to know what and who they are...
