Let me start by saying - my 2 pregnancies have been TOTALLY different and it's 2 boys
We try to talk to Ethan about the baby but he doesn't seem too interested most of the time. He's felt kicks - to the point where his head bounces off my stomach - but he seems totally oblivious LOL He's advancing so fast right now overall though that I could see how those few months older Jacob is can make such a difference!
I'm opposite - I never wanted my kids this close! But after it took 27 months of TTC the first time, it happened really fast this time!
Did you end up cutting Jacob's hair at all yet? Ethan's has grown back out and I need to get it trimmed. If I don't wet it in the mornings to make it curlier, the front falls in his face all day and bothers him.
Wow- Being fairly new around here, I love reading the long intros- I love getting a real sense of who you all are. Thanks for sharing your story. Every time I read a lodge intro, I think about what I will write in my own... and I bet you- mine is going to be long too!
I do hope you get the homebirth you want! Sounds like you have it all planned out!

No, Connie, I still haven't managed to convince myself to cut it!
You can get a pretty good idea of how long it is from these pictures:
I don't seem to have a good picture of the back, but it's well below his armpits and a bit curly at the bottom. I was so close to cutting it last weekend, but wouldn't you know it, he said he didn't want a haircut right then. Good enough for me! I'm sure I'll cry when I finally cut off those bottom baby locks.
How long is Ethan's?
I hear your pain with the hair, I had to Isaac's last week cause it's straight and was in his eyes and ears and really bugging him....then I called DH and cryed about it. Jacob and my Hadley have VERY similar hair, I haven't cut hers since she was tiny
Thirty-eight weeks today! My plan for the day is to finally get around to washing the baby clothes. Oops.
I'm almost finished knitting a baby kimono. Just one sleeve to go, plus the ties. It's so cute but I'm afraid I made it too small and it won't fit for more than a few days - especially if I have another big baby like DS. Next up, a pair of wool longies. I'll be making those a bit bigger, since it'll have a drawstring waist and the bottoms can be rolled up to fit during the early weeks.
Got all the clothes, blankets, etc washed yesterday. I think I have all the homebirth supplies I need now. Have one package of disposable diapers, 12 small prefolds, all of the cloth we used with DS (started at 4 months with him), and tons of covers. I think on Tuesday I'll pick up some more small prefolds. I have no idea how many cloth diapers I should have for a newborn, especially since s/he likely won't wear them for too long (right?). Anyone use cloth from the start? How many should I have on hand if I want to wash them every 2-3 days? And how long do they use the small prefolds before moving up to the regular size?
That kimono sounds cute, what pattern did you use?
As far as the CDs we started DS at one week. We only had 24 diapers and we were washing every other day. This time I got 36 pfs to wash less frequently. I got the newborn, but am thinking of switching to the smalls since DS was not small either. We started out in just o/s, but he was in medium pockets by our months. but he was a fast grower. Was your DS a ast or slow grower, that may play a role in how long the next one will be in smalls.

Congrats on getting the laundry done. It must feel nice to have that accomplished. The Komono sounds so cute! What a cool idea!!

It's a BOY!!!
It's been 8 months since we cut Ethan's hair and it's grown back out a lot! This isn't the best pic but it's the most recent. It's from a day when I wet it.
Kinda hard to know exactly how long it is since it's so curly! Before we cut it I took some pics with it stretched out so we could tell exactly how long it was. Here's the collage from before we cut it.
I didn't cry when we had it cut but I came awful close It helped knowing I wouldn't have to deal with the tangles anymore LOL
