I'll be happy to share pics! Of course, I don't have a huge plot of land...we live in a 1200sq/ft townhouse with a small fenced yard. We all maintain our own yards though. Earlier this spring my backyard was a big old plot of dirt, so all this grass is a huge accomplishment. LOL!
My inspiration has been my children...I recognise that with two preschoolers and a newborn I will be pretty housebound for the latter half of the summer and I wanted somewhere for us to hang out that would be pleasant and fun. So I worked on the lawn and now I'm so much stricter than I thought I'd be! No kids playing on it if it's rained...that just tears the turf, ect.
I commissioned my FIL to make us a sandbox, which you can see in the corner of the pic. Behind the grass, where I am standing, is our patio wtih a BBQ, picnic table for the kids and garden box with a few Impatients in it.
The branches you see on the stone wall were taken off our crabapple tree last night. That's one thing DH wouldn't let me do: operate the chainsaw. LOL! But, the kids and I will put them into the wagon later today and take them to our neighbourhood mulchpit.
I have a few planters in the front with flowers too...this is the new flower that I'm most proud of, even though it's apparently easy to grow: Shamrocks! You can also see the garden stone that my DH helped my DS make me.
And a closeup of the flowers they produce.
This has made me feel better. I slept horribly last night...heartburn is really killing me. I've never had it this bad before and I'm dying. I finished off my bottle of Gaviscon in the middle of the night and started drinking cream instead. Does anyone know of any other remedies that are safe and effective?
Those flowers are beautiful, and your grass looks nice too!
For the heartburn, I've been taking Zantac, and it's helped a ton. It lasts for hours.
Your yard is beautiful! We're in a condo and I wish I had a little fenced space of my own...I love it!
I hope your heartburn lessens today.
I'm sorry about your heartburn. I hope it goes away soon. Your yard looks fantastic way to go!!! I'd do more in ours, but it's definately DHs job since we have 3 acres. It takes more than a day to mow/weedwack on the John Deer. DH enjoys and I'm happy tending the plants instead of the grass! Your FIL was very kind to make you a sand box!!! The kiddies will LOVE it!!!
Heartburn blows! Have you tried a liquid Calcium Magnesium supplement? I found it worked moderately well, but I have no idea how it would compare to Gaviscon.
Maybe Farzzle will be born with a ton of black, spiky hair, just like my dream!
Nice Yard Em. At least you still have the energy to work on it

Your lawn looks great! Sounds like you've done a lot of work on it. I love doing yard work. I didn't really know it until we got our first yard, but there really is satisfaction is having nice green grass and keeping flowers/veggies alive.
Can your neighbours see you working outside? Mine think I'm crazy for being out there pulling weeds and pregnant.
Yes...my neighbours can see me! LOL! My one neighbour lets me mow her lawn too...I have a push mower and I love to use it. We never really had a yard growing up so it's so nice to have some grass to mow. My other neighbours cringe when they see me but I don't care. It's a nice break to get outside and do the lawn. The children don't bother me, I'm moving, it's satisfying work.
I was just looking up heartburn remedies and one site said, "Shed a few pounds " LOL! I plan to in just a few weeks. LOL!
I just love that pic of you & Mallory right after her birth!
