Yay, congrats & welcome to your lodge!!
Mama to 7 curious, wild & wonderful little ones ♥
Awwww--- thanks, friends! You are all so sweet!
I'll need to go look at other lodges and figure out what I'm supposed to put in here--lol. Perhaps a quick intro?
Hi! I'm Audra. I've been 'round these parts for a really long time-- since TTC our first in 2002.....my how time flies! I've been married to my sweet dh, Trey for just shy of 6 years. He is absolutely amazing. Our "story" is pretty basic-- we went to to high school together, graduated, started dating and as they say the rest is history.... We have two beautiful girls already (yes, I'm biased...) Trey is a SAHD and I work full time. I'm a fundraiser for a university and enjoy it-- and it allows us the freedom to have Trey at home full time (which wasn't an option on our previous salaries as teachers *sigh*)
I have been so very blessed with fairly easy pregnancies. Aside from puking for 20+ weeks I've always felt pretty darn good, and with this bean I didn't even puke that much! I've had fairly uneventful labors/deliveries-- both were in a hospital. I'll go back and see if I can cut and paste my birth stories of our girls from the other boards....
This go 'round we are planning a homebirth with a midwife. I'm so at peace with this decision and having just made the choice in the last few weeks I feel like a giant weight has been lifted from me. I know this is right for us. My MW has such a calmness and gentleness about her, and I so enjoy her presence and peace.
At present I'm in Washington DC (one major drawback of my job is the travel...ugh!) But this is my last trip for a long while..yay! I get home on the day I hit 37 weeks...and will have my home visit and such. I'm not worried 'bout being on the road...and my other babes have been "late" and I'm certain this baby will be, too. But I'm just ready to be in my own house and my own bed and enjoying my family before baby arrives.
I look forward to sharing a lodge with ya'll! But get comfy...'cause it will be a few more weeks![]()
Wanted to welcome you to your lodge, I look forward to reading your other birth stories and this one of courseHope your travel finds you home safe and soon.
Congratulations on your lodge! I look forward to hearing everything you have to say!
Sounds lovely Audra. I look forward to hearing about your homebirth preparation.

Congrats on making it past the 36W mark!
How wonderful that your DH can be at home full time. I can understand why that would be more appealing than your previous situation as teachers.

Thanks for the warm welcome ladies--you are so sweet and I feel so special!
Can I vent for a moment? I'm on travel for work...essentially I travel to visit with alumni/donors of our college. Yesterday my schedule worked out so that I had some free time during the day and spent some time doing office work from my hotel room. Obviously, I'm not usually home to watch daytime tv (as I'm working) and even if I was, we don't have cable....but anyways, yesterday I spent the afternoon watching TLC. OMG-- A Baby Story about made me crazy. I think I saw three episodes total and was just floored and it made me so happy that we are doing this at home this go around. People having c's left nad right, people laboring in bed...they all looked so miserable.
So here are the things I'm so excited about:
* my family will never have to "meet" our new baby from behind a glass window.
* Nobody is going to count to me while I push.
* Silly, but my baby won't have a computer attached to them so that they don't get stolen....some of those devices were so cumbersome.
There are 1000 other things I'm excited about but those pop to my mind today.
Fantastic reasons to be excited about a homebirth! I must admit I've never watched A Baby Story as we don't have cable either, but from what I've heard it's all about interventions. You get to avoid all of those things with a homebirth!
