Default The birth of Cory Isaac

LOL My son is almost 7 now, but I don't think there are enough stories on this board so I thought I'd share mine. I met my ex-husband when I was 16 years old. We had 3 classes together, and I thought he was really cute and shy. We started dating and after about a year, I wanted to become pregnant. Now keep in mind, I was only 17 years old! But by golly, I wanted to have a baby. So after about 3 months of TTC, I found out I was pregnant. My due date was May 17, 1996. My pregnancy went well besides high blood pressure which is common for teen moms. On the morning of May 9th, I woke up with very wet panties. I had had diarreah all night long, and I had an upset stomach the whole day before. Just a general not feeling well. So I thought that maybe my water was leaking. We dicided to go to the hospital (30 min drive) to get checked out. Turns out it was not my water and they told me to go home. I had an u/s at 1pm that day, and they said he was 9lbs!! And I had a whole week left! So we went home. Around 5:30pm I was laying on my bed, on my left side of course, when I heard AND felt a *POP* down low. Well being 9 months pregnant, I didn't think anything of it. So much strange stuff goes on in there at that point! My son's father came in the room and I got up. That's when I realized what the *POP* was! My fluid came gushing out like a faucet! My pants, legs, and the floor were soaked! Thank gawd I was at home!! I began laughing and crying at the same time because I knew that was it. I had a quick pb&j and a glass of milk before we headed out. I got to the hospital, and the nurse told me to have a seat in the waiting room!!! I wasn't really having any pain, just an upset stomach. About 15 minutes later, I went to the nurse and asked her for a new pad because mine was soaked. She then replied, "Are you leaking THAT bad?" I was like "YES LADY! My water BROKE!" So then she got me in an exam room, and they found I was 5 cm! And I hadn't really felt any pain at all! I got into a room around 7:30pm. I started feeling some pain, but not that much. The monitor showed me having contractions, but I guess I have a high pain tolerence or something because they didn't really bother me. Needless to say, the nurses kept bugging me to get an epi! I kept telling them no I don't want it. Finally about midnight, the pain did get worse, so I decided to get it. At 12:30 I was pain free and fell asleep. I don't remember how much I was dilated at that point, all I remember is waking up suddenly at 1:15am with an INTENSE pain in my lower left side. My ex said I was biting him! (I don't remember that!) They gave me more epi meds and checked me...10 cms! Ready to go. I started pushing. And kept pushing. And kept pushing. And kept pushing. And kept pushing. And kept pushing. LOL Finally at 2:51 am, May 10, 1996, my beautiful son, Cory Isaac, entered this world. I watched his entrance in a mirror, and it was the most beautiful experience of my life. I remember taking him on my naked chest right after he came out of me and thinking he was so warm and wet and heavy! 8lbs 7oz, 20 1/4" inches long. Just gorgeous! I am now expecting my 2nd son on August 21, 2003, and I look forward to sharing this birth as well! Thanks for reading!
