Just checking on your lodge. Hope you start making some more progress!
Your pump will work. Do double if you can and do 15-20 minutes at a time. Don't make yourself sore though. Put some lanolin on first and afterwards to keep things soft. and of course get Finn involved in the extra curriculars That's way more fun that pumping anyways well - I think so
Yep, my MW recommended pumping, but the other way is a little more fun if you are up to it!
Well I think we might actually be getting somewhere. I started having reall irregular spaced out contractions yesterday afternoon/evening. But rather than going away they increased. So I went to bed and woke up at my usual 4:30 time and they were still going on and closer together. Had trouble falling back to sleep through them so Finn drew me a bath and took some Tylenol. Was able to fall back to sleep around seven and just woke up and yeah the contractions have not gone away. The are still pretty mild, so I think this could last awhile yet, but I am just so happy they have not stopped yet.
Sounds like you're getting close, birth buddy!!!
Oh, cool, Drake!! I'm so excited for you!!
:woohoo: sounds like little Hawkes is getting ready to meet you!!!!!
I'm sooo excited!
Sending you labor vibes :vibes:
Just got back from my 40 plus week appointment. well I am a bit more dilated and effaced and he is way down. She said his position is still abit weird and that he is pushing my cervix to the side, so that may be why it is slow going. She did strip my membranes though and this has definately picked up my contractions, so I hope this keeps up. I go back on Friday for a BPP to make sure it is safe for me to continue to 42 weeks. She also wants to get a sense of his position and weight, she thinks he is going to be a big baby. We expected that all along, so no biggie. I am actually doing better than I thought being overdue. Really only two things are driving me nuts. One is that my MIL has taken to calling everyday to see if their is a baby, like we will not tell her. Also I really sick of the feeling sorry for me looks I am getting evertime I tell people I am overdue. And then the next question is are they goign to induce you, and they really look sorry for me when I say not before 42 weeks. It just bugs me, that is what I want, I would much rather be pregnant for a few more days than face a hospital induction. I have started to avoid the mailman because he is always like no baby yet, ug nope. It seems everyone is impatient, but me.
Aw hun! Sending you labour vibes - and ignore everyone else. What you want is what counts
Wow hon, sounds like kind of a bummer of an appt. Glad the membrane strip is moving things along, hope it continues! And sorry about the people demanding to know what is happening. I think I would be avoiding them too!
Stay in your bubble! You can do it!!!
Wanted to drop by and lend my support! Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job~hang in there~baby will be here soon!
I'm glad to hear things are progressing for you! I know what you mean about feeling like everybody is impatient besides yourself - but hang in there!
Well I am still having contractions, they never stopped since last night. Luckily I was able to get some sleep last night unlike the night before. I had a few this morning that really hurt, and they are stronger overall today. I feel bad for Finn and my mom because i am being a complete b**ch today, not sure why I am just irritated at everything. Just trying to take advantage of this last bit of time to get stuff done. I am hoping I do not make it to my appointment tomorrow, but who knows.
Irritability is a good sign too! You're in my thoughts!
Sounds good - better than mine! (((HUGS))) Finn and your mom will be OK, I'm sure they understand. I flip-flop back and forth between being a b*tch and being sane and rational, so I guess that follows my overall pattern. ROFL Thinking of you hon, I hope you don't make it to your appt. too!
This is so exciting, you MuST be close!
I hope you don't make the appointment either!!! Thinking of you :vibes:
Have to agree that the irritability is a good thing!
As for people who ask when you are due, just tell them next week, then they'll leave you alone! No, they would probably be like, wow you are so big for x amount of weeks! No matter what they always have something to say, ykwim?
Sending lots of (((ELVs))) your way for when they time comes!!!
Well the contractions have picked up this evening. They are now closer together and hurt more, I cannot ignore them as much. Also I have had bloody show. I never thougth I would get so excited about bloody mucous and pain. So hopefully this will just continue on till he comes.
lol at "I never thought I would get so excited about bloody mucous and pain" When I had bloody show I yelled woohooo! in the bathroom and dh is like- what is going on!!!?!!! Oh, jsut bloody mucous honey!
I have an adreniline rush for you right now- sending tons of ((((((((((ELVs))))))))))) your way!!!!

Sounding more like baby time!!!! I never had bloody show - but i remember being so impressed by all the mucus and wantin to show kyle. "Hey! would you look at this!!!!....holly Elephant snot wads!!" I was all smiles and to excited - he ahhhhhhh didn't get it

Congratulations are in order! Woo hoo, welcome to little Hawkes!!
Yayyy, that's wonderful news - congratulations!
Well my internet is back up and he is asleep so I will give a quick update. It is going to be awhile before I can get my birth story together, I have quite a bit of processing to do. It was way harder than I ever could have imagined. It all started when I woke up in the middle of the night to a sharp pain, jumped out of bed and my water broke. After that I did not get a break until he was born. Strong hard contractions a minute apart and a minute long until I got to pushing. He was not positioned well, in fact he came out transverse and did not tuck his chin so I had to push out the widest part of his head. But after 2.5 hours of pushing he came out in a rush. Amazingly I only had a small first degree tear and am completely healed today. He was born at 12:00 and weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and was immediately pink. We are all so happy and I have never known such love. He is a great nurser and latches great. Here is a quick pick. We are still getting them onto the photos onto the computor.
yeah!!!! He is sooo darn precious! i am sitting here trying to remeber both you and Fin in more detail trying to decide who he looks like. He's more you isn't he? He's just gorgeous!!!! I was worried for you since you kept saying that your MW said the whole cervical positioning was "awkward" I figured you might have a challenge with him! But I knew you'd figure it out. Sounds like your body met the challenge well! Congratulations!!!!! :woohoo:
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of the story!
Congratulations, he is just adorable!
Aww Drake, he's so gorgeous! Sounds like everything went well for the most part - WTG! Can't wait to hear more!
Oh! He is so beautiful. I can't wait to hear your incredible birth story. Way to go Mama!
That is such a cute picture!
Sorry you had a tough labor, but I'm terribly envious that you didn't have any real tearing. That is great. Can't wait to read the whole story.
Congratulations again! He's beautiful! I'm so excited to hear the rest of your story.
Congratulations!! Welcome to your little baby boy! He is a beauty!
What a cutie! Congrats to you Momma ~ Great job! So happy for you and welcome to the world little one!
What a beautiful little guy! I made such a fuss over the pic DH had to come in and have a look as well.
He is SO cute! Makes me want t go wake Noah up and cuddle him Can't wait to hear the rest of your story, once you have processed it, and are ready to share. Congrats again!
A little update on us. Things are going well here. We had an appointment with our mw on Monday and I had lost 19 of the 26 pounds I gained, so that was exciting. I am healing well although my energy is still very low and I am still pretty pale, I lost quite a bit of blood right away so I am recouping from that. I also seem to have some skid marks that are really burning especially when I use the bathroom. I find if I keep Tylenol in me I feel better. Hawkes is doing well his head actually grew more from Friday to Monday. It was 35in at birth, which puts it in the 95th percentile. I guess that is why it hurt so much. He lost his cord at the appointment before my mw was even able to take the clamp off, so that night he got his first bath which he loves. He is a really mellow baby although we have been dealing with some gas issues since my milk came in. He is not a great burper, but we are getting better. I just hate to hear him cry in pain. We went out and bought a swing today which seems to settle his tummy, so that is nice. He is still sleeping quite a bit and actually sleeping for three hour stints at night. It is crazy at our house since my mom and dad are here and my brother comes in tonight. It is really great having them. My dad is doing all kinds of projects around the house and my mom has been cooking up a storm. She has filled our entire freezer with food for us, we will not have to cook for at least a month. Finn has been great and just loves being a father. he has been really helpful and is in charge of changinf him and even gets up in the night with me to help out. I am taking advantage of this week with others to watch him to rest and get some stuff done. Next week my family leaves and Finn will be back at the office during the day. Wow this is long, so I am goign to catch up on other posts.
Glad to hear things are going well Drake. epsom salts in your bath might elp those skid marks feel better. The only other thing i absolutely can't live without (for ANY momma or bottom kind of pain/trauma) is Earth Mamma Angel Baby Bottom Balm. www.thestorkwearhouse.com carries it and she is located in Des Moines - so if you are down (or someone else) this way you could get it ASAP. i LOVE the stuff and wouldn't be without it. i prefer the balm over the spray. It's also great for hemmroids, UTI type pain, basically any inflamation, or iritation south of the border. For gas we tried burping like our friend in Germany learned. She lived there for awhile and said all the woman there were puzzled about the way we American's tend to burp our babies. They sit them up on their lap facing away from them an scrunch up their legs kinda rolling them up. She swears by it! Can't hurt to try.
hang in there and take advantage of all the help while you have it!
Glad to hear that things are going well! Love the new pic!
Glad to hear things are going well! UGh, hate the gas issues! The burping "position" that Erika reccomended is the one my doc also reccomends. With Noah though, the only thing that worked for him was draping his midsection across my shoulder, not his chin on my shoulder, but his tummy, so he was kind of flopped over me! But hey- when you find what works, stick with it!
Glad to see your doing well, what a fun time with your fam. I'm glad your taking advantage of the time to rest before it's all over. Gas is a bummer of a deal, I found that rubbing the lower back really helped also, it's all in the baby though. Hope you find something that works for you.
Glad you have such a good little baby. Sorry about the burning. If it helps, mine actually hurt the worst at 5-6 days then got much, much better in the following days.
Wow Drake, sounds like all is going really well. I'm so happy for you! I'm with you on the burning - I have a second degree tear with stitches. I will have to try some of those remedies out. Also agree with the PPs about finding different burping positions. I had luck with DS1, sitting him on my lap supporting his jaw with one hand and burping with the other. GL!
