I'm originally from Nebraska, so I'm no stranger to snow. I've visited CO many many times, in all seasons, so I'm familiar with the climate, but it will still be a shock after being in TX for so many years.
I'm on weekly appointments now. I'm sure I'll get another internal, so we'll see. I feel alright today. I'm trying to get some work for my class done, but I'm putting it off, as evidinced at how much time I'm spending on here! I'm kinda tired, so I'm about to go take a nap. I'm really trying to stay rested at this point since I know labor could start any time.
Omigosh...the house is basically sold then? Fabulous! I KNEW it would work out for you!
I can't wait to see this little boy!
Omigosh...the house is basically sold then? Fabulous! I KNEW it would work out for you!
I can't wait to see this little boy!
Crazy isn't it? I had a feeling it would work out too.
DH and I can't wait to meet Michael either! The other night, Chris was sitting next to me with his hands on my belly and he said to me, "I wish he was here now." :cloud9:
Welcome to your lodge!
And as for sitting outside the lodges by the fire, we also like to howl for our laboring friends!
I hated those cervical twinges, ugh, horrible! If your doc likes all 4s for pushing, I really reccomend it- I labored my entire active labor like that for my last baby, except for maybe a few min here and there for monitering, and it was the only thing that gave releif from the back labor for me, so may help if your back is really bothering you.
YAY on your house selling so easily in these times!
Yay on selling your house!!! I know that was worrying you, and it worked out!
I remember those twinges too. They freaked me out the first time I felt them and I thought I was going into labor any minute. That didn't happen. It sounds like things are really moving along for you! It will be soon!
Hi, hope you are doing well today.
I actually liked the twinges, a little wierd, but then I knew my body was doing something. I didn't have many of them but had a few. It was nice to feel them since I never felt any "contractions".
Congrats on the sale of your house! Thats huge!
Thinking of you and hoping that your DR appointment was great on Monday ~ Keep us posted!
Congrats on selling your house!! My sister lives in Texas City....just a little tidbit of info for you Hope you are feeling well today!
Still here. Still pregnant. Still feel normal.
I've got all the stuff done for my class that I needed to get done in advance for my replacement. The house inspector is here today inspecting the house for the buyers. Everything seems to be hinging on when Michael gets here. No pressure.....
WTG getting everything done!! I finished my work a few weeks ago - it's a great feeling just to be able to sit and wait. (Well, sort of. LOL) I really hope everything pans out with the sale!
That's such great news about your house. That must be a big relief!
I'm sure it also feels really good to have all your class work finished for the replacement. I'm stalking you and Drake all the time now, can't wait to hear about your babies!
Congratulations on your lodge. Easy birth vibes to you. I hope you don't need to be induced and baby comes soon!
Congrats on getting your work done for your class. I wish I was as on top of my schoolwork.
Well, I have only the one class, and I'm the teacher, so I've got the answers in front of me.
WooHOoo on having everything prepared! That much less to have to think about
Well, had my almost 39 week appointment this morning. I am now 2 cm dilated. :woohoo: I'm not sure if she stripped my membranes or what, but she said that she would try to 'loosen things up' in there. It was fairly uncomfortable, but wasn't terribly painful. Of course, I'm bleeding a bit now. Luckily I remembered to bring a pad. I was pleased to hear that my doctor regards all the cramping and tightening I've been having as 'real contractions' as opposed to 'false labor' or whatever. She said, "Well, they're making you dilate, so they're real contractions."
I don't have anything timeable or getting progressively painful, so I'm just taking things easy. I'll probably take a bath tonight and maybe take a walk with DH this afternoon or tomorrow.
I called my mom earlier to let her know how the appointment went, but she didn't answer her cell. She called me back later while I was napping, so I'm sure I didn't sound like my normal self. I'm sure she thought I was in labor because when I called back after I woke up more she seemed worried at first, but I assured her I'm not in labor. I'm certainly not telling her I'm basically in the early stages since things could continue like this for weeks.
wohoooo for progress!!! sounds like those contractions are doing their job!!
Great news, Elly! I hope labor continues to move forward for you!
Well, last night I had some more mucousy blood and I had some again this morning. I'm assuming this is 'bloody show'. I'm not too excited because the exact same thing happened after my internal exam last week, and I'm still pregnant. I have been having more pelvic pressure and cramps, though.
Still trying to take it easy. I forgot that I haven't bought a Christmas present for my mom yet, so I'll try to do that today. I already bought a bunch of catalog stuff and had it sent to my parents for the rest of the family. I'm having my mom wrap it for me.
Well look what happened with Drake, Elly! I really hope this is it for you hon!
WTG on your Christmas shopping - I never even started mine (though money's been tight too)....
You've got the perfect excuse for no Christmas presents this year, then! I'm sick of the huge gift orgy my family likes to participate in, so this year everybody got one, maybe two small items. I'm using having a baby and buying a house as an excuse, but I hope to continue the thrifty trend!
:woohoo: for making progress Elly! Hopefully your MW did "loosen things up" for you. Just think, that's 2 cm less your body needs to work when you go into active labor!
I know how you must feel with your mom re: not talking about being in early labor. If I even breathe funny or make a funny noise my Mom looks at me as if I'm gonna pop and drop the baby on the floor right then and there. If only it were that simple!
Okay, seriously, how much mucous can come from one cervix??? I lost some mucous plug after my first internal, and I'm still losing more after my second internal. I suppose it could have regenerated some the week between internals, but this is just nuts!
LOL! Any other signs?
Yeah for progress and hopefully the show means something. It is amazing how much can come out though.
Not really. I don't think I'm cramping any more than usual. I'm really trying not to think about it. I haven't felt the need to time anything yet. I know I could drive myself completely insane, so I'm just taking things one day at a time.
DH has been so accomidating to me. It's my week to go grocery shopping, but he offered to go instead. I'm just not up to dealing with the pre-Thanksgiving crowds right now.
Yay for a good DH! I went to Meijer Saturday and the crowds were already getting bad. I made sure we were stocked for the week, I'm not dealing with it this week (and I'm not even pregnant!)
Hopefully you're getting close!!
Okay, seriously, how much mucous can come from one cervix???
Woohoo for a kind DH who helps you out. I don't blame you for wanting to stay far away from the grocery store. Around here, on weekends, the stores are crowded enough without a major holiday in the upcoming week. Hopefully you were able to use the time to rest...or maybe some last minute nesting?
Holy stretchmarks, Batman! Just about the entire pregnancy, I have been baffled by the lack of stretchmarks on my belly. I know I'm not one of those women that just don't get them because I have old ones on my thighs and breasts from puberty, PLUS I have these really red and angry-looking new ones on my breasts. Well, my belly is no longer stretchmark-free. I caught a glimpse of my stomach in the mirror in the bathroom earlier today, and I have a whole crop of them on the underside of my belly. They weren't there this morning after my shower (yes, I check for them every day), so they must have appeared during the day sometime. Weird.
They aren't stretchmarks....they are battle scars!! LOL
Glad you are hangin in there, you sound fabulous! Just checkin in on you
Elly, the same thing happened to me. On one of my many trips to the hospital for my kidney, a nurse was hooking me up to the monitor and said she was jealous of anyone that didn't get stretch marks on their stomach while pregnant. I'd only had them on my hips too at that point. Well, wouldn't you know it a few days later, I saw some on the underside of my belly, darn it, that woman totally jinxed me, lol!!!
Sorry I've been pretty absent from your lodge. I've been checking in but have been so swamped I haven't had time to post much. Just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best as you are nearing the end of your pregnancy. I know what you mean about the stretchmarks. Mine suddenly showed up one day. I wish they would go away like that! Poof!
OMG- same thing happened to me this weekend! I've had this blank slate belly the whole time, and then Poof! These stretch marks come out of nowhere... Well, at least I can't see them unless I look in the mirror I know they are just going to get worse during the next month......
Still here. Still no baby.
I finally quit my teaching job last night. It's quite a relief, actually. It wasn't the kind of job where you can just show up and muddle through, even if you feel irritable and crabby. Since it's my first semester teaching, preparing each lecture takes a considerable amount of time, and it just got harder and harder to fathom doing that and then being in a good enough mood to teach it to my students. I kinda feel bad for my students, but the head of the department is taking over these last few weeks, and he's taught the class many times before.
I can't say I've been feeling much different or anything. My next appointment isn't until the Monday after Thanksgiving, and I'll be one day over my due date at that point (ticker is off...) I'm sure my doctor will discuss induction at that point. *sigh*
Good for you for quitting! You need to focus your energy on you and your baby now.
How do you feel about discussing induction? I'm sending you strength for whatever you want.
Hi you! I kwym about needing to stop teaching... I teach music privately and had to stop about a month before dd came - I just couldn't focus, and found myself very irritated that the students were coming to my house and demanding my attention. I think we have a real need to focus inward in late pg and just deal with the situation at hand.
So what's your take on induction? If you figure they'll want to discuss it... will your Dr. be "discussing doing it tomorrow" or "discussing doing it next week"? It was funny... when I had my consult with OB for dd, he had me make an appointment for 1 wk "past date" to "discuss options". Neither of us believed I'd still be pg at that point (and then I had her the next day) but I said, "normal pg is up to 42 weeks" and he clearly just didn't buy that, even though he was a very supportive natural birth OB who was willing to catch a breech if I "made him do it" (and if he was on call of course - and we know how THAT went  ). The OB attitudes about due dates really seem screwball to me.
Well, I'm not opposed to inductions if there is a medical need for them. My dr said she doesn't like to let women go more than 1 week past their due date. I'm REALLY hoping I won't need one, so he'll be here sooner. I'm fairly confident that if I do have an induction, it will result in a vaginal birth since I'm already 2 cm dilated and effaced somewhat (didn't get exact # at last appointment), and my cervix is anterior (or whichever position it's supposed to be in).
I just really want to have this baby, especially since I've been getting more uncomfortable lately.
ETA: I know my cervix isn't ripe enough for an induction right now, but I'm just hoping since I've made progress in the last weeks, and it feels like I'm still making progress, that my cervix will be ready for an induction in about a week and a half if I have to have one.....
Sorry I have gotten a bit behind on your lodge. Good for you for quitting your teaching. In those last weeks I stopped goign to class and even asked for an incomplete in one of my classes and am so glad that I did. Right now you need to do what is right for you. I hope you go before you need to think about an induction. Would your doctor be open to having you get a BPP at 41 weeks to see if the baby is fine before discussing an induction? This is what I was scheduled for on Friday, but ended up not needing it. Enjoy these last weeks the best you can.
Hi Elly! I haven't really been posting much in your lodge here, but I have been following it. Just wanted to let you know. Sounds to me like you're getting really close. :bigarmhug:
I'm not sure about the BPP. I can always ask at my appointment on Monday. I definitely don't want to induce if conditions aren't favorable, though.
YAY! for quitting your job, and cervical progress! As for the possible induction, lets just hope it won't be necessary- open cervix! lol- don't we wish it was that easy!
And as for how much mucous can come out of one cervix- trust me it is SO much more than you would think!
Hi there Elly, just wanted to wish you a great day tomorrow. I hope your able to relax and eat some good foor. As for your baby, I hope it doesn't make you have to worry about induction:) Wishing you a restfull weekend...and an easy labor when the time comes! I second that your cervix will make WAY more mucus then you would dream possible, oh the joys.
Hopefully this will happen soon for you. Even a week is plenty of time for your body to jump start and send you into labor so I'm really hoping induction won't ever be an issue.
Can't wait to hear good news!
Elly, how's it going? I've been thinking about you!
Elly I'm thinking about you too!!! Good for you for quitting your job. I know it's a relief for you. I hope you can avoid an induction also. (Just wanted to add that I was induced at 2 cm and 80% effaced, and I had a vaginal delivery without problems. Since you've made the same progress, I bet you'd experience the same thing.)
Come on baby!!!
It's going alright. My ticker thinks I'm due today, but my "official" due date is Sunday. Everybody is getting very anxious for this baby to be here, including me!
I haven't had any cramps for a while, so DH and I may take a walk tomorrow to see if that will do anything.
This whole labor and birth thing is such a huge unknown for us because of my back issues. I'm trying to prepare myself just in case I need a cesarian, which would mean being put under a general anesthesia. Not the best option, but I'm trying to focus on the outcome and not the process so much.
happy due date. How are you feeling today? walk as much as you can and have lots of sex I went 5 days over, walked 10 miles, had the membranes stripped the next day, and scheduled to go in and have my water broken the next morning.. went into labor and had baby before i was scheduled to go in
You can do this, just relax and enjoy your last day/s in peace.
Hi Elly! Happy Due Date...again! lol Hope you're having a good day.
Happy due date!
You sound calm and centered which is great. You also sound totally ready to meet baby!
Thanks for the due date wishes, everyone! :o
Ha, ha! I guess I've fooled everyone on sounding calm and centered! j/k
I don't see the point in walking around in a panicked frenzy. There's plenty of time for that later! I quit work, I'm letting DH take care of the moving stuff, so I really don't have much to concentrate on other than waiting for baby and trying to do my routine stuff around the house.
We went for a short walk yesterday. I definitely get more crampy/ pressure when I walk. I had to stop and rest after only a few blocks. My other walks have been fairly pleasant, but for some reason I didn't feel as good on the last one. I had a much harder time walking. I don't know if that means anything or what. It was kind of frustrating, because I've always been an avid hiker and have been on many extended hikes and I've even gone backpacking a few times.
The past two nights while lying in bed, I've felt the baby squiggling around, accompanied by some pressure and cervical twinges. I'm hoping that means the baby is moving lower and my cervix is dilating more.
My mom has been calling every day, and everybody seems to be in a holding pattern waiting for this baby.
I've got my ob appointment on Monday. I'm sure she'll discuss scheduling an induction in a week or so. Hopefully, I won't need it.
