Thanks for posting the verses Julya. I'm going to print them and put them in my hospital bag if you don't mind.
You have inspired me to look up some more, hopefully I can find some good ones.
This is one of my favorits, although I'm not sure how it would relate to childbirth, but it always helps me to release my fears.

Psalm 118:6
"The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

Julya, I love those powerful verses! They are perfect for you! You know, you posted that affirmations thread, but to me these are the perfect affirmations for you. We have very different beliefs, but I still think these are wonderful.

You are going to do great with this birth!

I can't wait to hear the news!

And aren't you 39 weeks tomorrow?

I share your faith, Julya. Can I add Psalm 91 to your list? It's always been a great comfort to me:

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

I'm not Christian either but I think it's wonderful that you put faith in your faith. It's so nice to know for you that you can gather strength and will from it. Congrats! You're so awesome!

Julya, the verses you shared are awesome! This was the one I knew would get me through a difficult transition, but you know what? I needed it in the days/weeks leading up to Sarah Cate's birth as I began to doubt myself. Labor and transition were a cinch largely b/c I had claimed this and I wanted to share it with you:

Phillipians 4:13
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Oh Julya those verses are so beautiful! I am so glad that you've found your center again and that your feeling calm. I think it's totally normal to be a bit nervous and scared but it's also good to keep things in perspective & I think your doing an amazing job of that. I'm so excited for you. I can't believe your birthing time is so close!! How on earth did you become 39wks so fast lol

Thanks you all! This board really is amazing!!

Jennie - I was just thinking the same things, that these may just be my affirmations. I didn't think of it until after I posted the affirmations thread. I started to get scared that night (what's up with that?), then I went back and read Laura's lodge. I'm writing all these down, and the other affirmations too. Smile

Thanks to all who shared other verses! They are beautiful! I am going to write them down and take them with me.

Chimmy - I never in a million years thought I would make it to 39 weeks pregnant!!! LOL!! It feels so weird to say "39 weeks" ...now I'm wondering if I will go post-dates! I hope not, actually!

It's May now, baby! Yahoo We made it, and we're ready! It's time to come on out and meet the family! YAY!!

I'm so happy that you are able to focus and bring yourself *back* when you start to feel fear. I agree with Jennie that you are going to do GREAT with this birth. I'm so excited for you and your family. Lots of love hon.

LOL ...you read my mind!! Isn't it funny? I wanted to make it to May, didn't expect I would, I did ...and now I'm anxious! LOL!

So, I went ahead and told my boss that Sunday would be my last day before maternity leave. A co-worker is getting married in early August, and this would give me maternity leave through July 31st (12 weeks) ....since my workweek is Thursday-Sunday. So, I'm hoping the baby comes by Thursday ...next week at the latest ...because I want to spend maternity leave with the baby as much as possible. I'm ready for those labor vibes now! LOL!

Oh - two Dads in the news room told me they think I'm having a girl b/c of how I'm carrying. One is very confident ...he keeps looking at my belly and going "it's a girl!" LOL! That is the fun part of not knowing the gender! Having people guess toward the end.

I told one of our PAs that I'm ready for the baby, but I'm not sure if s/he will ever come out. He goes "yep, it's mid-June, and Julya is still here ...we're still on baby watch 08!" ....I was dying laughing ...then he goes "here we are in December, still waiting ..." LOL! That put it in perspective for me! Haha! Afterall, even Arty didn't stay pregnant forever! Ha!

I had some braxton hicks/mild contractions all night last night. Good sign, huh? Plus, we have thunderstorms rolling through tomorrow morning ....and I would love to labor during t-storms. Hmmm....

I'd also be okay to go ahead and make it through working this weekend. We'll see ...the baby has to come out sometime. LOL!

Maybe I'll make it through the weekend, wash clothes and clean the house on Monday ....then have time to rest before having a due date baby on Thursday (May 8th). LOL! That would be fun!

I'm at work ...and lots and lots of crampiness. Like period-like crampiness. It's not really steady like contractions though. Thoughts?

(Peggy, I'm thinking pink too ..lol ..of course, I'd be happy either way! I just "feel" like its' a girl. I have from the start. I dunno ...I guessed right with David too. Smile )

Julya, I think that may be the start of labor. Even if it doesn't come today, if you get the same feeling at the same time tomorrow, then I think your body is gearing up.

I thought you were thinking boy early on? No? I know you've been thinking girl for a while now. Either way you win!

Still pretty crampy this afternoon ...hmm.... LOL! Thunderstorms are heading this way too. Wink

This preganancy has been SO different from David's. I would not be surprised at all if my labor was totally different too. With David, at 36 weeks, I lost my plug ...and literally just a few hours later labor began. The contractions were very regular, even to start, then hard labor started a few hours later ...I was at the 4-1-1 rule and heading to L&D for pre-term. Looking back, no wonder it scared me to pieces!

This time, I'm wondering if things aren't gearing up slowly. If so, I like this better. It's a pace I can handle much better. Sometimes I think I want a fast labor, but honestly ...I think I can handle the slower labor a bit better. I think I can keep on top of it easier maybe.

Jennie - When I first got my BFP, I wanted a boy. I wanted a little brother for David. That's probably what you were thinking. I thought it would be neat to have two brothers close in age ...then a little girl for a third. At about 12 weeks along, I noticed I was naturally saying "she" instead of "he" when I talked about the baby ...just by accident. I did the same with David, only opposite ...I said "he" instead of "she" before the ultrasound where we found out. So, it will be interesting. Smile

Crystal - that would be fun to have our babies on the same day! I remember you said your family is pushing for the third.

I think I'll be pretty happy unless I go past NEXT weekend ...then I may start getting cranky b/c I want to spend my maternity leave with my baby, kwim? So far, so good.

Crampiness sounds very promising! That's what I'm waiting for myself, too. Every once in a while I feel a low ache and try hard to remember if that's what menstrual cramps feel like. Lol

Whew! What a heck of a lodge to catch up on! And I got here at the last minute, it sounds likewith the feelings you are having.

I loved reading the verses you shared, and that others shared too. It made me think of a site that someone posted here on my edd. www.birthingnaturally.net they have a section on Christian childbirth that I found immensly helpful- and when I finally was in full blown (not prodromal) labor two days later, it was something I found on that site that got me through my entire birth! They have a section on the different Biblical names of God, and I wrote down several, and during ctx would chant the names that felt right to me, calling on God's promises to me to get me through.

Now I just have to keep up in this lodge!!! Biggrin

My last was born during a huge rainstorm - it was very relaxing to look out the window and see the raindrops sliding down it. Good Luck - I hope that LO comes this weekend too!

You're getting so close, how exciting!!
I was reading the site Kasey posted and just had to point out this article (http://christian.birthingnaturally.net/prayer/index.html) May 5, Monday, is the Global Day of Prayer for Childbirth. How cool would it be to give birth on a day when so many people are praying for safe childbirth?

Well ...I'm having contractions too. Smile It's 4:30am and I've been up since 2am. When I lay down, I get crampy and can't sleep. When I sit up or move around, I feel better ...but still have the contractions. It just feels better to be standing (gravity taking pressure off my back).

I'm having contractions about every 12 minutes ...lasting 40 seconds each ...since 2am.

It may be nothing ...may just be early labor that fizzles, but I sure hoping it keeps up!! I feel so ready to have this little one today! Smile

I was suppossed to go to work at 5:30am, but I went ahead and called our producer to have her call the other meteorologist. I told her that I may be in tonight (I work split shifts), but that I won't this morning. Even if this fizzles, I'm too tired to do weather! LOL!

Pray this keeps up!!! I'm really, really excited, so I hope this is it!! PLUS, we have thunderstorms today!!!!

7:30 am now ....contractions still coming. Smile Still stuff happening ...still not able to sleep.

I'm gonna go downstairs and try to eat a little something.

Should I go walking and try to get things moving a bit more? The contractions are at about the same length as earlier. The weird thing is, they pick up a lot when I lay down ...I mean, a lot! I also get more discharge and such when lying down. When I stand/walk, they still come, but I get breaks in between of about 8-10 minutes.

Oh, I hope this is it!!! I really do!!
